TFA Graflex Research (That's a Graflex, right? Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

I had the SW technical journals and went off that for the lightsaber functions(still do). I remember after getting my first G R A F L E X and being kinda "huh?!" after opening the box, when I moved the clamp lever only for it to come loose(first time accidental disassembly, lol.

Now the one thing that I've come to notice recently with the TFA trailers, Boyega holds it with the longer portion of the cut out, S curve what have you and the bunny ears towards him and clamp down. In all my umm "handling and studying" of my ESB saber, I've held it just the opposite where my thumb would be on the activation box and the bunny ears would be positioned away from me. This seems more natural to me, even though "would" have more exposed blade to your body than the other way as it would be "guarded" from the blade by the cut out and bunny ears.

ANH clamp position is very comfortable to hold with bunny ears pointing in your direction. Clamp would sit in a position you can put your thumb on (if you hold it in your right hand).
ESB clamp position is very comfortable to hold with yout thumb resting on it when the bunny ears are pointing away from you.

It's just like in the picutre above. You can't hold a Graflex with ESB clamp position comfortable in your left hand while bunny ears pointing away from you. :D
Ok maybe you can hold it that way, but you can't wield it.

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

I was just checking my on-screen guide and I'm not showing ESPN showing this on Tuesday night. Am I missing something? Regular ESPN, right ?

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

On DirecTV it says there's a 30 minute SportsCenter titled as a "Star Wars Special" at 7e/6c.

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

I found it, the guide says 'Sports Center' but the description lists the Evolution of the Lightsaber Duel.

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

Can anyone LMK what channel and time ESPN is showing this special in HD. I spent 30 minutes on a diatribe against AT&T and their channel guides but realized
the futility of that. Any and all help would be welcome. P.S. ...This is also coming from someone who spent an hour online... watching the premiere... which I realized at the bitter end, I was sadly not also going to see. :(

After playing in Photoshop, I've figured out the measurements for the grips. With an assumed length of 90mm - it appears the notches start at 14mm up from the bottom, are 7mm wide, and end around 21mm from the bottom. This snugly fits a 6mm screw (or rivet) head. The same dimensions appear to be used for both the hero? saber and the Disney display saber, even though the grips themselves appear to be different.

GREAT!
I was about to do this study!
I've got 6mm flat head rivets in stock.
I will put them in my webshop after tomorrow's screening!

The grip screws look like torx star screws that have had the heads machined down as there are visible machining rings. Both visible top screws look slightly different as well.

And the Kobold screws look like hex and not tri-wing.

Still, there are no real clear conclusive photos unfortunately.

Wow, you're absolutely right. Those are torx screws, no question about it! The Kobold screws are clearly flat-headed hex too.

The question still remains, if this is the same hardware featured on the screen used prop(s). Looking at the high resolution black & white photo, you can just make out the star "points" on the head. I going to say they are also torx screws, though they don't have as much of a machined look to them.

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

It's on right now. Started 9 minutes ago. It should be listed in your guide as "SportsCenter".

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

The one on ESPN was about the lightsaber fighting style and Kendo, not lightsabers themselves. Still, twas neat.
