That is a tough one.
Well work on the version 2 LED driver board and new battery pack are going well so far.
I built up a prototype v2 driver board yesterday. I put in on the bench and drove a v2 blue blade at a full 12V... :eek The current draw on the blade was a whopping 3A.
That's 36W going to the blade.. :eek :eek
The current Li-ion battery wont be able to source that much current, so I will have to dial it back so this isnt a problem. I never thought the battery drain would be the biggest issue now. LOL
Even after running for 20 minutes, the new driver board was as cool as a cucumber.. :lol It didnt even get hot. Now the blade boards started to warm up alright at this power draw. But I really cant drive the LEDs any hotter without burning them out or shortening their lifespan. I am "tapped" out as they say.
The best news - the blade at full brightness has to be
AT LEAST 2x brighter than the v1 driver (using an 11V battery).
That is rougly about 4x brighter than a stock MR or luxeon.
So far I am very happy with the results. I am now working on the new firmware code to take advantage of the new brightness settings that I need to incorporate. Hopefully by next week I will have worked out all the bugs and stuff in that code...

Here are a couple pics so far. It might be hard to tell, but this thing is BRIGHT. And not just bright, but eye watering bright.. :lol Clearly enough to be seen in broad daylight, which is a first.
Here is a shot I normally do at 0.8" F2.8. You can see the thing is just saturating the camera.

I then take a shot at 1/30 of a sec. Normally an outdoor day shutter speed. The blade still looks bright and is throwing off enormous amounts of ambient light.

If that wasnt enough, I then take a picture with full flash. Even with a flash at close proximity, you can still see the blue aura coming off the blade. Plus the blade core is still saturating. B)

Enjoy the pics and the upcoming 4th.
