Survivor: Fans vs Favorites

Really?? I LOVE the Andrea vs. Malcolm drama! I'm glad she stayed so we can see more of it.

Having two strong, smart players not on the same side is fascinating. It's usually just one person dominating the game with others going along with them blindly against underdogs. To me that is so boring. I like to see two pretty equal players trying to outwit each other. And they really are fairly nice people too - no nasty hateful personal stuff coming out of them. They are just playing the game.

Crazy funny is that Philip really thinks he's the Boston Robb of this game.

Yeah, I had trouble with her last week, but this week she pulled off a pretty good lie with Malcolm. She is smart and is playing to win - she just doesn't have a charismatic of a personality.

Looking at previews, she seems to not be able to handle the pressure emotionally. She was pretty upset with Andrea's panic last minute vote change this week that undid most of what Dawn had worked on with Malcolm - and is going to make her look very untrustworthy now. I'm going to guess that's what it is... she loses her 'neutral, I'm on everyone's side' stance that she's been enjoying.

Oh Julie, I don't really want to see Andrea go. Mostly because she's hot. But I want Malcolm and Reynold and Eddie to wrest control of this game away from Specialists-R-Us, or whatever the Hell the rest of the castaways are called. Andrea would be my last pick to go. Philip would be my first. Dawn would be my second. I only said I wished Andrea had gone home tonight, because she was the one Malcolm had targeted.

As for the previews, I hope Dawn's breakdown is fatal, and she's the one to get booted next week. If I was out there, on Malcolm's side, I would totally gaslight her!

Dawn did have a point, why go to her after she was the downfall of Corrine? was Dawn able to cover herself so well that no one knew she told all about the attempts to recruit her?

I'm wondering if something has been edited out about Philip. Could he have made a Final three agreement early on and has been actually living up to it? (thinking he's Boston Rob and can't be defeated?)

Dawn seems to be so sure that she'll be around awhile if she just keeps telling Philip and Andrea what's going on. I'm thinking that Philip might see Dawn and Cockran As the easiest people to defeat and made an Alliance that has been edited out (for drama) and won't be reveiled till later.

I just see no other reason for dawn to be SO dead set to keep Stealth are us in power.

Glad you don't have it in for Andrea...

But I want Malcolm and Reynold and Eddie to wrest control of this game away from Specialists-R-Us, or whatever the Hell the rest of the castaways are called.

Ha! That reminds me of Cochran's epic comment last night; I so wish I could quote it word for word, it was brilliant... but something along the lines of it not appealing to him at all to team up with the testosterone gang of numbskulls. hahahaha!!!

I'm for a split of both teams, actually. I would be happy if both Reynold and Eddie got booted, both seem pretty naive at this game and want to just ride the wave of being chest beating studs. blech

That's why I like Malcolm; he can pretend to be only that, but he's so much more...

The rest I could see go easily too: Dawn, Phillip, Erik, Sherri and Brenda. Unless Brenda starts playing like she did in her other season... that could be interesting if she stepped it up.

My ideal end game would be Cochran, Andrea or Malcolm... and Cochran wins.

But with the way it's going, whatever happens, I'm enjoying the game. :popcorn

This was one of those shows where I really had no idea who was going to get votes. Before tribal those folks were all over the place. Since there were no votes for Malcolm, I think his play may have cost him an ally. Unless he can lie his way out of it well.

Has Brenda had a confessional at all this season? Maybe its for the best. She is smoking hot fine but I seem to remember really hating her during her last time on the show. Maybe she saw how b!tchy she came off as last time and has decided to just be cute and quiet this go 'round. Sometimes hotness is better seen and not heard.

“And we’re men! We’re men and we hate women and we’re gonna slap each other with towels in the locker room and chug beers — that doesn’t work with me. That doesn’t appeal to me at all.”

I also loved it when he said, "I rarely leave my apartment, I rarely leave Twitter."

Enjoying the season.

Yeah! Haha! He's so funny. I may have to go visit my unused Twitter account just to follow him. :p

I think Brandon and Phillip have some mental issues I truly hope have been diagnosed. They need to get their heads right. Dawn has even bigger issues I think. She is an emotional and mental wreck. She needs to go before she has a complete and utter breakdown.

I actually feel embarrassed for the people when Philip does his R Us crap. That's the kind of stuff I did when I was like 10. I'm really rooting for Malcolm now. That was brilliant getting Reynold(right?) to give him the idol! The only thing that would have made that perfect would be if they had actually voted for Malcolm. I don't know why Malcolm voted for Reynold unless that was his plan to get him voted out.

One thing that really pee'd me off was the reaction shots the show's editors used (ostensibly) of Philip and Brenda and others right after Reynold gave Malcolm his idol. The editors used reaction shots that were NOT from that moment. They totally wanted us to think that everyone had voted for Malcolm, so they showed Philip put his head in his hands, Brenda looked terrified, and so on.

I knew the show did this kind manipulative editing with reaction shots in Tribal, routinely...but this instance was over the top, and really bothers the Hell outta me.

I don't know why Malcolm voted for Reynold unless that was his plan to get him voted out.

From my spoiler text above:

Now, I don't think he (Malcolm) was trying to stick it to Reynold as much as try to vote the way the favorites told him to vote so that they might trust him again... and to try to convince everyone that he really does not have the other idol. I'm not sure what he's going to do back at camp as far as explaining himself, but I can't wait to see it.

Wook - I didn't even notice that...

Yes, Julie, they edit the reaction shots routinely. And I understand why it's often necessary. For instance, let's say Philip and Brenda or any of the other members of Specialists R Us smiled when Reynold gave his Idol to Malcolm, what would that tell us? It'd tell us they did NOT vote for Malcolm, and that would mean there'd be no suspense when the votes are being read. So I get it, they can't show us those real-time reaction shots to Reynold giving his Idol to Malcolm, in a case like that.

HOWEVER, in such a case, they should've shown us NEUTRAL-expression reaction shots from Philip and Brenda (or whomever from their alliance), to leave us wondering as the votes were being read. Instead, they went overboard by showing us completely misleading reaction shots that were NOT from the actual moment--looks of terror and defeat--thereby manipulating us into thinking Malcolm's plan (hedged though it may've been, with him voting for Reynold) of getting rid of Andrea was going to work!

Another freaking great episode!

Now- I really couldn't care less that Michael went home. This was absolutely hands down an episode where I had NO CLUE who was going home!

And yeah- big brass jewels on Malcolm to actually ASK for Reynold's idol WHILE HE IS ABOUT TO PLAY IT! I mean really!! :lol :wacko

Before the Andrea scramble, I honestly thought that the Favourites plan would have been the best blindside yet...

They tell Malcolm they are splitting between Reynold and Eddie but actually vote Malcolm.

So Reynold plays his idol to save himself (thereby flushing his idol). However all the votes go to Malcolm and since he would not have played it he would have went home with the idol in his pocket.

It would have been the perfect play if Andrea had not gotten chummy with Eddie and then freaked at hearing her name.

What I don't understand is how Andrea thought they had the numbers to get her out. Even if Erik voted with the fans again, it still should have been 6-5 for Malcolm no?

Is it because they knew Malcolm had figured it out? Or had an idol?

At any rate it most definitely did not go down that way. :lol

Once again Cochrane demostrates how sharp he is seeing past the "all male" alliance.

Totally agree that Dawn looks like she's gone Jungle Happy in the preview.

This season has been one of the most interesting in years! :thumbsup

Tonight's episode was TOTALLY AWESOME! I am loving Cochran's comments, this show is one of the greatest seasons in a long long time.

All I have to say right now is EPIC!!!!! WOW!!!

Biggest move ever as far as I can remember. OUTSTANDING!!!!

SPOILERS!!!

Malcolm is amazing. I'm not sure he's going to be able to win anyone else over because it is TOTALLY obvious that he is amazing now and likable enough to win it all if he makes it to the end. But then again, some at the bottom might join up to go further.

The looks on their faces when he pulled out that other one was priceless! haha!!

News release: Erik woke up!

Oh, and - YAY! No more Fill up.

Continuing the Spoilers

I love how Erik flipped again to boot Phillip that was great. But that Tribal was ALL Malcolm. Just to see EVERYONE's Face when he pulled out the second idol and handed it to Eddie. Priceless.

And poor Andrea, thinking she was GONE. lol

Speculation -

With Phillip gone, Sheri really has no choice but to try a hand with the Guys now. Phillip was the one keeping her on. Yes, Andrea was a bigger threat and that's why her name was being passed around after the Prevote Blindside.

I'm actually excited to see where this goes now.

Definitely a Top 10 TC of all time last night. But I wouldn't quite rank it in the top 5 because of the lack of suspense when the votes were being read. There was suspense, no doubt, but for me, the only suspense was which, if any, of Specialists-R-Us (SRU) would vote alongside the three amigos. To me it was a fait accompli, that regardless of who SRU voted for, its ringleader was going home.

Don't get me wrong, TC was AMAZING! I just kinda wish the three amigos had kept their cards close to their chest, and blindsided Philip, rather than tip everybody off ahead of time. I don't see what that gained them. They didn't need Erik's, or anyone else's vote to take out Fillup.

Well, while writing this, I suppose it was smart, because they did get one to betray SRU...Erik. And they can exploit that defection the next day (which it appears they do in the sneak preview). Because yes, even after this epic move of Malcolm's, he's right, in that technically speaking, it's not a game changer if everyone of SRU stays tight next week. They'll still be sitting pretty with a 6 to 3 advantage. But by beginning to lure Erik to their side last night, gives them a good head start next week at wresting control of this game away from SRU's remaining members.

So yeah, I guess it was smart, but in the interest of theater, I wish Fillup had been truly blindsided. Tonight's TC was great, if a little anti-climatic when the votes were being read.

ps~I love Cochran's retort to Jeff next week at the Food Auction! And Jeff's reaction. :lol

That's a good point about blind-siding Fillup making it more tense, but for a minute there I thought Malcolm was hoping that by revealing who they were voting for, they would get enough people to flip that he wasn't going to play his immunity necklace!

That's where the tension was for me - would he be the guy who had the perfect plan and risked it all, only to go home a week earlier than necessary?

Because really, if Erik had not of flipped, he could have been gone this week. And next week, if not enough people flip, and he doesn't win immunity or find a necklace, he's outta there.

Also, I think they played their hand so they could enjoy the scrambling. A blindside is fun for as long as it takes for the person to stand up and have their torch snuffed... what they did gave them who knows how long to revel in the glory of their scheme.

All excellent points, as usual, Julie. And I enjoyed TC immensely. I just prefer the vote-reading drama of a true blindside.

See y'all on Sunday!

Same here. I think it was just way too risky. I think it was brilliant though because I'd have no problem leaving after getting Philip out!
