Supernatural Season 6 - Spoilers

Finally saw the first two episodes of the new season and I didn't think it was off to a good start. Sam's return was just a bit too uneventful for me. We knew Sam managed to escape the pit when we saw him standing outside Lisa & Dean's at the end of last season, but when he made his appearance in the season opener, it just didn't have the same impact as Dean's return in Season 4. The introduction of Grandpa Samuel and clan was also kinda meh, although we're given the impression that something's not quite kosher with Samuel. The only time I felt enthusiastic was when Dean took the Impala out from storage (didn't quite like Sam's new ride! :p) Here's hoping Cas would make an appearance soon!

Yeah, it doesn't strike me as a bad start to the season but I really like shows that go out on a strong note. They might pull it off whenever the show is cancelled so I'm not giving up on it but part of me does wish they had just ended the show with the season 5 ender.

A similar situation for me was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The season 5 finale on that show was fantastic but then they pulled two more seasons out that honestly were lackluster for the most part. I hope that won't be the case with Supernatural.

I really wish sometimes that we'd see an end to the open-ended way of doing things here in the U.S. It gets really old seeing shows you love (like the X-Files, Buffy, etc.) linger on to the point that they end the show on a low point instead of a high point. The new BSG was one of the only exceptions to it IMHO...

Yup, it'll be pretty tough to top the apocalypse. I mean, we went from Lucifer to a King Shapeshifter! :confused

I felt the exact samen way!! REALLY hard to top the apocalypse, and Sam's re-entry was definitely "meh".

There is definitely something hinky w/ Samuel and the group......

Yeah, I might give season 6 a pass. The original showrunner has stepped aside; he told the story he wanted to tell through 5 seasons. I almost feel like this season is a glorified fanfic. I'd rather think that Sam didn't return, and Dean lived as normally as he could manage with his new family the rest of his days.

You can really tell that something's off this year. I can't really put my finger on it. I feel like part of the problem is the past is just being glossed over. Lucifer, the apocalypse, sam's addiction to demon blood, Sam's return. It just seems like the writers are passing up some really emotional character development and trying to get on with their new story

I'm trying to keep an open mind. I missed last week's episode so I've only seen the season opener so far. My feelings are more based off of the way good shows have been driven into the ground before. I would love for Supernatural to be the show that breaks the pattern... I'll just have to wait and see. :confused

I didn't know the showrunner stepped down? Who's in charge now?

Executive Producer Sera Gamble is technically the showrunner now. Kripke however is still heavily involved judging by what was said at the 2010 Supernatural Comiccon panel (available on YouTube... just search for it).

The latest episode restored my hope somewhat. I've been anticipating Cas' return and he doesn't disappoint. Loved that falling off the building stunt that resulted in Sam's car being totalled! :lol At least the brothers are back together in the Impala.

So we're gonna have another showdown between Dean and Sam (if it is Sam) with an angelic civil war in the background? Sounds a lot better than fighting against a King Shapeshifter, that's for sure.

So far, the show is ok. Sam clearly isn't right. I hope the twist is good. I'm surprised they let Dean call Sam's car a plastic piece of crap or something like that.

The bit about Cas not being able to use his blood in his potion because he isn't human. Huh? His vessel is.

Aside from the Bobby episode, I've been very disappointed with this season. Just doesn't have the same feel as before. You can really tell the lack of Kripke's influence in these episodes.

Not sure why, but it's really bothering me that Cass couldn't tell that Christian was a demon. Or that he just didn't mention it. Seems like they just glossed over that and hoped no one would notice.

I think it's a case of Sera Gamble trying to fill Kripke's shoes and do what he did in 5 years in just one. Those little details are glossed over when you're rushing a storyline.

I admit that I like the angle of Crowley holding Sam's soul hostage, they just took too long to get there.
