Supernatural Props.What Ya Got... 4 Years 2010-2014

Re: Supernatural Props.What Ya Got...

RE: The Men of Letters Key & Box, I also lack the skill for it but I have a Flickr gallery of 720p HD screenshots of every appearance of it in the 2 episodes it shows up for anyone who wants to try.
Supernatural References - Key Box - a set on Flickr

It is, at least, very clear detailing of the largest and side panels (I'm pretty certain it's symmetrical) although there's never a great view of the smallest two panels. The construction looks like the top of the box opens like a cigarette packet with the two hinges hidden on the inside, the top panel slides off and is held in place in the lower right corner so it pivots, allowing the gold plate that covers the key to be slid up and out, which reveals the key in its little housing.
To me, it looks like the mechanism to keep it closed are small magnets - the little silver and painted studs visible on the shots where the box is open. Although we don't see the back side of the pivoting top panel it must also have a set to keep it attached to the front of the box.

Amazing! Those images should go a long way towards helping someone make a replica, great effort by someone who doubts they could make one lol.

Looking at those images I'm almost certain that if I had the $$ and workspace that I could cobble one together. it looks like it's all wood save the gold plate and the key itself.

Maybe over the summer after my big move I'll give it a go if no one else has made a reasonably priced one by then.

Re: Supernatural Props.What Ya Got...

Also, sorry.. I can't remember the contents of the crossroads box off the top of my head :/

All good, I've since answered most of my questions. I searched around a bit and according to a few sites the contents are 1) photo of the perosn wishing to deal 2) graveyard dirt 3) black cat's bone and 4)Yarrow.

I have no idea where to get Yarrow, but it looks like those little white flowers added to bouquets. Baby's breath? IDK, I'm a dude lol.

I think it was Season 2 Ep:8 that the Crossroads Demon was first introduced, anyone have the DVD or BR and willing to get some screen caps? I think most of the images that I found were fan made boxes as the contents varried beyond the 4 items I mentioned. Some had jewlery, almost all had some form of coinage.

Excellent resource!! Thank you so much for sharing. I haven't gotten my hands on a HD download yet so the caps I've collected weren't able to showcase the great details in the design of the box. So, I really appreciate you taking the time to cap and then share :D

Awesome.. 'tho I'm not sure what Yarrow is either, and I'm a chick :/

Re: Crossroad Blues - yup! That was 2.08 :D Unfortunately my favourite cap site is down for service updates or something (i dunno i'm not tech savvy) but if you're still looking for caps next week, I'll post a few for ya.

Re: Supernatural Props.What Ya Got...

Hi Jhorcher I love your entire collection!! Can't imagine how much work it was to track everything down! Beautiful stuff :)

Quick question about the cooler 'tho.. I have that one too, got it on ebay last year.. it's actually the only spn prop I have *silentsobs* but the inner shell is damaged pretty bad. I'm wondering how your plastic liner is doing? And if by chance you know any secret underground covens that sell replacement stuff for our awesomely old cooler?? *fingers*crossed*

Haha, I had to use the Google a little bit to find out what Yarrow was. Still didn't help me to figure out where to get it.

I can't access a laundry list of sites off my work PC so I'll be trying to search more from home tomorrow, I think I'm dragging this thread off topic now though so I'll start a new thread once I get some pics.

Thanks for the help though! I'll let you know if I can't find any good pics, every little bit helps!

No problem. 'tho this does pose a great question. And massive apologies if this isn't the right place?? But, I don't really know where the "right place" would be? Anyway.. the question is, where would we go to share HD Caps to help fellow Supernatural prop fans get detailed images/references? If this is the place.. then, awesome. If this isn't the place, I would truly appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

-this nooby thanks u.

Re: Supernatural Props.What Ya Got...

My inner plastic liner is actually in great shape. I use the cooler all the time. Not sure where you could get new one for yours. Just best to always keep a eye on eBay

I can get 720p or 1080p frame-by-frame screencaps of ... almost anything, depending on whether it was filmed in HD and how obscure it is.
I'll try to get ahold of a HD version of the Crossroads Blues episode, and the couple of others that show deals.

I sent the mods a request to add Supernatural as a category for TV.

Personally I'm going to trim my Key Box pictures down to just clear shots without motion blur and organise them for what they show clear views of and post them as galleries on my blog I guess.

If anyone is interested, using Media Player Classic Home Cinema (free video player) you can scroll through frame by frame holding ctrl+ left and right directional keys. You can save an instant screencap with F5.

Re: Supernatural Props.What Ya Got...

About yarrow... I wonder if they use yarrow root (I haven't looked yet) since yarrow root sounds/looks witchier, and is sold commonly ground-up as yarrow root powder as a herbal remedy. If they used ground yarrow, it would be A LOT easier since you could buy that at any healthstore and just break the capsules open!

Everything You Need To Know About A Crossroads Box

Okay forget what I said above! I've gone through Crossroads Blues and All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2 for the crossroad box details and yummy 1080p HD screencaps. Prepare to have the window massively warped.

I posted the entire thing as a gallery on my little hobby blog (just for this purpose!) where you can see thumbnails of them all, and click on the little 'see fullsize' button bottom right in the slideshow to get the fullsize image. I'm not going to post them all here because it's... too many. Please go here: Supernatural ? Crossroads Box Reference Gallery « Made of Pixels for the whole crossroads box reference gallery.

Crossroads Blues: When Dean and Sam arrive at the crossroads they note there's yellow yarrow flowers growing all around it, and mention yarrow flowers are used in summoning rituals. However, there is no trace of yarrow in 2 out of the 3 crossroads boxes we see next, and no sign of yarrow growing at the crossroads site in All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2. If you want to include it anyway, you can buy bunches of dried yarrow flowers right here on eBay, and you can also buy yellow yarrow seeds to grow your own.

supernatural-s02e08-1080p-bluray-x264-teneighty-mkv_snapshot_11-05_2013-02-17_10-52-11.jpg

The contents of the first box, belonging to George Darrow, is shown to be the black cat's bone, bottle of graveyard dirt (there's a symbol in the glass on the bottle), the photograph of George Darrow, and an indistinct blurry bundle of something brown which could be a tied-together bunch of old, dead, black yarrow flowers.

We see that the container doesn't have to be a box or a tin, the blues player uses a burlap sack tied with string. We don't get to see its contents.

I took some bonus screenshots of the goofer dust in the gallery in case anyone wanted to recreate that. From google it looks like goofer dust is a real thing actually used in voodoo but is a sort of general term for many different blends of hexing powder, and the pictures of it all vary and I couldn't find any that were black like the show. Dean mistakes it for pepper, so that's probably your best bet for making your own goofer dust pouch.

When Dean comes to bury George Darrow's box again, but with his own photo instead this time, the box visibly contains different sized silver coins. I can count five that are visible. The same bottle of graveyard dirt, the same black cat's bone, and half his ID which says "Prince Animal" and calls him "Robert".
There's no sight of the (what I am assuming is) the dead yarrow, it seems like that was removed from the box when Dean buries it and summons the Crossroads Demon to save the final victim.

All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2: Dean makes his own box to save Sam. He uses a metal Oriental Mixture Tobacco tin. I spent a few hours searching for these, got some great product shots, and saw a couple sold recently on eBay for $10. At the moment there's only one I can find unsold listed on an antiques shop's online catalogue but they don't have an online shop or any contact details listed at all. I went slightly stalker and whois'd the domain name to get the store's address, phone number and e-mail address and e-mailed the owner. I don't live in Ohio, or I'd go knock on the door. I'd appreciate it if no one bought it from under me.
Anyway, it is a tobacco tin which makes me think the original tin was as well, they're the right size. You can find absolutely hundreds of hinged metal vintage tobacco tins on eBay and on Etsy.

Into this tin, Dean first empties a bag of silver coins, presumably the coins we saw in the last box. I can count 6 this time, but there's no in-focus moments of the coin details sadly. He then adds the same bottle of graveyard dirt, and what looks like a cat skull (which he pulls from a Senator Virginia Cut Plug Smoking Tobacco tin, which I guess is their handy cats-bones-tin, with what looks like part of a dollar bill and masking tape stuck to it) and an ID from their ID box, calling him Agent Dean Ford from the US Wildlife Service.

Bonus product shots of both of the tins I was able to identify (Dean's-to-save-sam Crossroads tin and the here's-where-we-keep-our-cat-skulls-why-what-do-you-do-with-yours Senator tin)

The Senator one is actually pretty easy to find. There's one on Etsy right now, and a couple of other websites, for around $20.

Definitely saving this thread for future reference. Awesome!

^^
I'll be putting up more reference galleries on my blog, cause it's an easy way to store them.
I just had the fun of getting the whole frame-by-frame sequence of Castiel's shadow wings opening. Now I kind of want to make a .gif out of it XD

Re: Supernatural Props.What Ya Got...

Almost there. Just need to make the grips and finish the fine tuning.
