Supernatural EMF detector

So we also think the blocky thing on the back of Garth's meter is also a 9V battery?

I can't be 100% sure, but I would bet on it.

:)

Season 8, episode 6 has a very brief scene of Sam using an EMF surreptitiously. It seems that there are no jacks in this version.

What I am going with in my mind is that the boys each have an EMF. Dean's has the jacks, Sam's doesn't.

Of course the prop department must have built several as I'm sure they get "abused" during filming, but since I have to decide how to finish my daughter's, that's what I am going with.

Update... feeling better. I have to get caught up with my real work, but I may be able to finish with the EMF over the weekend.

This was a pretty nasty flu. Everyone in my house got it. :(

:)

I love this thread.
I think an EMF detector will be one of my beginner projects because so many characters in it make their own cobbled together version, so I won't feel too bad if mine looks totally ridiculous.

EDIT: Yours looks totally amazing, but I understand that it's a lot of work.
If you decide not to sell them, do you think it might be possible when you're done to post a small tutorial of what electronics you used and how you hooked them up together to make lights/sounds, for total newbies?

Hi, the funny thing is I'm a newbie too. I am using an Arduino as the "brain". Arduinos are a great way to get started with electronics projects. You can start with a tutorial that just blinks one LED on and off. That's how I got started with this project. Arduino - HomePage

Thank you! That's a great resource. It's nice to have a starting point when your skill level is 0 haha.
You're incredibly talented, your attention to detail is wonderful and I think it's lovely that you're making things to cheer up your daughter.

feel better soon.....hoping I see a INT thread on the EMF's from you soon. :love

Oh thank you :)

I'm really excited about this project. The ones linked are looking incredible, and it's nice that the fantastic work of people in this thread has produced a parts list, size/dimension details, and information about how to learn Arduino and use it. All this makes me feel like this project could be a possible beginner one for me, so I'm really grateful!

OK, got most of my parts! Time to follow in the footsteps of the fantastic contributors to this thread.

Finished soldering today. 54 separate soldering points :wacko.

Programming the sound is a bear. :confused Almost there.

:)

I'm loving this thread. I'd love to make my own. You guys might actually give me the courage to start this out. If I screw this up too badly is there anyone that IS selling them? I've seen (and bid) on the ones on evilBay, but they seem to be in low supply. Anyone "mass" producing them?

Thanks and love all the Supernatural fans here

Update... on my work bench. Sound, lights and meter working. One more piece on the front, the back and battery to install.
