Hey Steve, I need to make a Plastruct order today. In that order, I want to get the hemisphere halves and the cross-tube. What is the diameter of this tube, if you don't mind? What are the other Plastruct shapes I need to look out for? Also - is 15" even long enough for the cross tube?

And away we go! :lol Today I officially started, the ANH Tie is in the making! Nothing fancy yet just basic shapes and patterns. The wings are pretty monotonous, a lot of patterns to make for the cool-shade! The wings were cut from 1/8" PVC, CA glue loves this stuff!

Hell yeah - happy birthday Jamie!

Yes, the PVC foam is great. It's pretty easy to cut, sturdy, and CA bonds it supertight! It's your B-day and we get the gift. Thanks, and happy birthday.

Thanks guys!

It's been a LOOOONG time since I've been able to build anything. This afternoon I'm putting together a workshop. Y-wing is coming back out of storage (lots of parts to add), Tie is on its way, Salzo V3 is awaiting a machined armature, and the ANH ISD is being planned! :)

Still waiting here, too. My parts were supposedly cast, but I haven't heard a peep. What's up, buddy? :)

Does anyone in this thread know about molding and casting Koolshade?

It's impossible, the finish at best will look like the Tie standard wings which has a solid look.

Do you mean the standard Neisen kit? It's fine... This will work for my purposes now. Just don't have enough $ to pay for enough koolshade to do a TIE. Especially since I want to make more than one. Later I will come back and construct one with real koolshade.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

That material is undercut all over the place by its very nature, so you'll have to fill in the slats partially using clay. It could be tricky to mold. . .

The vertical "stripes" are really more like twisted ropes made of two pieces of thin wire. The slats are bronze metal strips woven into that wire.
