Nice Battlestar there! And I agreee. Any in accuracies in reproducing the uncluttered, curved shapes of the Enterprise would be immediately more noticeable to the naked eye than something with a surface as "busy" as the Galactica.

X-actly!
I have the UTMOST respect for anyone doing the Enterprise!!!

Starting in on the nacelle recesses. These are really rough and need lots of clean up but the basics are there and will work. The cooler parts are just laying there and aren't glued down yet until I finish pointing up the recesses more.

More tomorrow and thanks again for the kind words guys.

Steve

I disagree.
I just built this from a Revell kit- took me 2 months in my spare time because of the TINY bits I hadda add that were not included, or wrong! My next one will be 3', and it'll still be a LOT easier than getting all those curves & smooth surfaces right on Enterprise! :wacko
You can disagree all you like, but we were referring to the grebble nightmare that is the TOS SS BSG. Both Steve and I will be long finished sanding by the time you have found half the kits populate the SS miniature.

Darn sexy work! I can't wait to see how you tackle the fiddly bits on the nacelles

I 'm antsy for the weather to warm up on the East Coast so I can get back to work on some building.

Hey Steve! I was wondering where you got that bar sander you used on the saucer. I have asked several stores about it and they look at me like I was nuts.

My local hobby store if it's the one I'm thinking of. They are common for building model airplanes.

Well I just had to do it. That damn Bussard collector just wasn't right so I did it over again a third time. It's right now a dead match to the plans anyway for what that's worth and it compares to the actual pictures.

So tomorrow I finish off all the little detailing and preening (there are still some edges that need to be straighted up. Recess parts are unfinished and just sort of stuck on for a look) I hope and it's on to the small stuff. Nearing the end.

The reason my nacelles are one piece it I plan to make two piece molds off them. Lay up in glass and close the mold with buttered edges just like a model plane fuse.

Since there's no lights inside and only the cable to go to the collector I thought it might be nice to have two nacelles you didn't have to seem together. More on that later as I am approaching the molding process.

Dontcha mean two cables... don't forget the flashing running lights on the other end of the nacelle! :)

There were no running lights on the other end of the nacelle. On the studio model there are small what APPEAR to be running lights on top behind the bussard but we never see them running. There was nothing at the aft end.

I should never post when I'm this tired. ;) But yes. And those lights I haven't seen lighted yet on any model but I plan to. Easily reached still as the end caps a Bussard sections come off. I'm good.

I think he was referring to those Oni and there are clearly marked on my plans. Since they are there I think I'll light them up on mine.

Steve

P.S. And yes I still have to make the 3 recesses for the dome clamps and the clamos themselves.

Dear Steve,
Your work is fabulous.
Will there be a giant kit available sometime?

I think it's a great idea to light those bussard lights.
As you can see in the picture, the original Master Replicas
version was going to have them light up but they opted not to at the end. Damn shame.

Keep up the good work.
