I hear ya on the secondary hull. Ever since they put the Matt Jefferies drawing on the AMT model kit box people have been putting extra curves in that secondary. :lol

The actual hull is, as you say, mostly a straight tapered cylinder.

I just looked at those plans more closely and they are really close. They are the best Karl on the net. He's just got a slight curve in the secondary hull that should just be straight. So for those of you looking to build a TOS E these plans would be the best to use and that coupled with the pictures I put a link up to here would get you there.

Rel thanks. And yes I'd have to agree with you. I'm sitting knee deep in a lot of models all around me in this office-shop of mine. But this one will take the cake. Hard to top on that what's next. But there will be a next.

Today I had garage shop duty making up my popular Spock-pointed ears. Then a lot of bore time on the PCs sizing, making templates and printing them off to cut the additional hull parts I need. I want to get those indentations sorted out before I sheet the hull. And the forward bevels that the base of the deflector will fit to. It always takes longer than one would think.

Actual building progress again tomorrow. Sometimes you have to be stuck at these darn things before you can do some building and that was today! ;)

Steve, that Mercury Redstone rocket is all wrong. You need to box it up and send it to me so I can fix it! LOLOLOL!!!! Serioulsy, Bro, you've got one kicking man-cave! Awesome amount of awesome awesomeness!

I had some requests to see my office. Here's a quick tour. :lol

Wow - so many questions present!

You (seriously) should open a new thread dedicated to your shop/display room so we may have a Q&A without distracting from your "E"-build thread.

For instance, I'd love to know more about the large-scale commercial jet liner, and the bigger of the two (hanging) Glennis...

I agree! Love the Glennis and the wind-up Gort. And if that's the 1/12 Mercury capsule from Atomic City, I'm asking Santa for one.

Wow, very cool. I agree; needs to be a new thread. I love the delta wing X-15. Saw that in a book and thought it would be cool to do one of those (I also thought it would be cool to build a giant Enterprise). You seem to have beat me with both! lol. Looks like a very fun place!

How how how did I miss this?? Exceptional work, this is shaping up very nicely indeed, really inspiring stuff! :thumbsup

Thanks you guys for all the nice replies and questions. I'm getting a bit behind here as I have so many things going on. Another thread for the cave might be a bit much to add to the load right now.

Except for the Plastic display models all the planes, ships, boats, and submarines operate. They are all radio controlled. Even the big Air liner. Even the rockets are flying ones and mostly all scratch built.

The big Redstone is all scratch built with a G re-loadable engine. Fun stuff and always more on the way but I'm sticking to the Big E as much as possible except for those paying projects. And one of those is on the way here. A big 66 inch Disney Nautilus from Custom Replica. The owner wants it built and Radio Controlled. I will start a separate thread here for that. I usually build these and test them in the pool in 2-4 weeks.

Thanks again guys,

Steve

Before I can sheet the hull it occurred to me that those three flat areas on the hull had to be dealt with first. Then sheet up to them. On top of that I had to make the beveled section and the flat ring the deflector base sits on. And sheet to that not the other way around.

Tomorrow I can sheet with 3/32 balsa the hull. Putty and primer. Next after that will be to sheet and shape the neck and attach it. Now keep in mind these are exact left and right halves. This structure separates right down the middle for molding.

More tomorrow,

Steve

Again, nice work, Steve.........:cool

On another quick note, what's the process for getting some of your Vulcan ears? My eldest son fancies himself a Vulcan, and is considering doing one for MegaCon here next year; he wanted me to get some particulars from you....:cool

Rob

Rob thanks. It's best to PM me about that and keep the thread on track and the Admins. Happy. ;) Then I can give you links and stuff like that.

Thanks again Rob,

Steve
