Here's some more pics I took today outside.

Yes, and landing test's too. My spine right on those springs, I have the worst luck with trampoline's.

Rel,

Any chance you could embed a small piece of aluminum bar or something in the resin to maintain the shape?

-Gary

My comprehension is very limited here... :confused

Is it that it is not getting hard enough to retain it's shape? Even with more setting time in the molds?

Exactly.

What about slight re-inforcement in any problem areas?

The fastest solution would be to back the casting with...you guessed it, FIBERGLASS. :)

The truth is that fiberglass is strutural in nature and a very elegant solution to the potential sagging issue.

Wait a minute. Here's another idea. Back the castings with expanding foam. That'll take care of the sagging and flimsy-ness. But it will make lighting the model a pain in the neck.

Well, if anyone can come up with a fix, Richard can. I have a feeling that this is not something that won't be overcome.

In some countries, you get arrested for even saying that. :lol :D Ok, Just kidding but yeah, R man can rectify about anything. He corrected my golf swings and perfected my synchronised swimming movements in just 2 phone calls on his 1800-CALL ME REL number.

I think that for the moment, glassing would be the only way to go until the R man can think of something to fix the problem. Maybe he already has?

^ He's been pretty quiet of late.

I'm sure a solution is in the works.

Arrested for saying, " come up with a fix "? Yeah, I can see that. But in my realm, that's just a technical expression for " Developing a work-around ". :D

Man your signature makes me dizzy, whatever he ate didn't sit right.

I'm concentrating on the fiberglass one now. Coby was right, to make the resin one work would cost more than to just make the fiberglass. The fiberglass version is as light and strong as a styrene kit and works great.

Oh and by the way. The Starship is now ready, they're $600 and include decals and photo etch parts.

You mean you're not an Ash fan? :D

Yeah. Sticking with what works sometimes is the best route. I'm sorry your alternative didn't work out as expected, but am glad the 'old' standby fiberglas one has been so successful.

ASH...lol.... the ASH-HO in Alien, eh?...LOL. All I see now is Bilbo Baggins spitting milk and waving wildly. LOL.

I think sticking with FB is a great decision. Super strong and light. Plus can be lit at your whim.

Richard...how are the molds holding out? :confused

I know you've been a casting machine. :p

How long do those things last anyway? :confused

I have been hearing of HUGE smiles on those that recieved them so far. :D Probably exactly like the drool pic ya posted of me when John showed me. LOL

I think we need a drooling icon for this board and even this thread guys.

Thanks man and HAPPY BIRTHDAY... :cheers

I think I can get about 6 or 7 more out of the molds, then this ship is going into retirement so I can concentrate on the other projects.
