Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

It took me a while, and 3 model builds to appreciate the new x-wings in TFA. I think they're a decent design, now. Not too sure about the other ships... The T.I.E. in the new teaser I like.

But that paint scheme is awful, sorry. I get the sort of homage to the OT flight suits - maybe, but the design doesn't match the craft, imo.

The other screen grab posted from resistance looks cooler, I even like it, but that is not the Star Wars aesthetic - it looks too animae, or even contemporary auto paint job-influenced. If the did the entire new fleet and uniforms like that Resistance colorway, I may be able to get along with it.

Back in the OT, you could almost feel the WWI & II influence in both the vehicle designs and the colorways. That aesthetic, to me, is as much a character/presence in the saga as the Jedi are, and I miss it.

The white and orange is definitely a throw back to the Joe Johnston/Ralph Mcquarrie X-wing. Though the scheme itself is new as they kinda already did that with the other X-wings.

And to me it looks more WW2. They had some pretty bright and colorful aircraft.

And then here's the New Republic flight suits for a T-85 pilot

I don't watch the show but I'm not crazy about the artwork for it. It's not bad per se, just not my style I guess. One of the many reasons I haven't bothered to watch it.

My hope (and this is me speaking generally about movies, not just Star Wars) is that we will see a renaissance in movie poster art and even films not in the speculative fiction genres that get the artistic treatment like they did back in the 1980's. I'm so fed up with crappy photoshop art. Most of it lacks composition and style. Subsequently it elicits zero emotion from me, which is what I feel the best poster art has always excelled at. So much so that I have owned many of the iconic posters from my favorite films over the years because they are so beautiful to look at.

I love that they are trying to make actual artistic posters and not just the photoshopped stuff. This one has the Drew Struzan feel which I LOVEEEE! This feels like an attempt at generating some sort of emotional response from the viewer with it's composition rather than just the lazy marketing of putting recognizable faces haphazardly on a sheet of paper.

So is Finn not a main character anymore?

Oh! I was so focused on the Kylo side of the poster that I missed Finn's omission. That's a huge mistake not having him there! He's one of the leads in this new trilogy and one I'm surprised they over looked.

It's cropped. Not the full picture.

OK . That makes more sense. It would be a huge mistake to not have one of the main leads on the poster. Do you have the full image of it?

I can't find it. But people have seen it, apparently. If you look at the big poster with Ben, that you posted, you see more TIE fighters at the bottom.

to me the orange x wing feels more of a tribute to the X1 bell

it was common for prototype or experimental aircraft parts to be painted orange. Yeager asked for the entire X1 to be painted the orange, and i always love this idea...

Poe having that experimental jet engine in ep8.. i think he likes trying new stuff and wouldn't put it past him to do the same concept as Yeager

That would really be cool if Poe is flying the first T-70 made. Maybe it had some stuff that the standard production models don't.

It sounds about right. I think the presale for TFA tickets went up for sale the same day as the last major trailer which was also in October if I recall.
