Huh? No one in the movie transported or materialized matter / objects via the Force. Are you talking about the dice? They were an illusion, as clearly evidenced by the fact that the vanished in Kylo's hand. They were never there.

Again... NO ONE MATERIALIZED DICE. They. Were. An. Illusion.

*Heavy sigh*

Oh, hey, did anyone else notice that Snoke explicitly said that HE was the one creating the connection, so why would Rey require any conscious effort?

As Harlan Ellison once famously said (paraphrasing here to keep it brief): "No one is entitled to their opinion. What people are entitled to is an INFORMED opinion. You keep ragging on this teleport nonsense which wasn't even a part of the film. In debate terms, that's called inventing a strawman argument.

Now, if you missed the part where the dice vanished, making it clear they were an illusion, that's fair. But let's be clear: No one "force teleported" anything. The entire sequence with Luke at the end was an illusion.

You do realize, don't you, that new Force abilities have been invented in almost every film to date? It's almost as if Lucas was using the Force as a plot device under the guise of "growing" the franchise from the very beginning.

Then explain to me why Kylo Ren wiped a handful of water off himself after talking to Rey in that scene with her after she got wet under the Falcon. Remember he said he could not see her. It didn't disappear but remained after the connection was broken. Was the lightning that Yoda used to strike the tree an illusion either? My entire point is when you start showing all these seemingly strange new uses of the Force they stop making a cohesive sense within the context of the mythology. I'm arguing that I have "grown" it as Rian says we should using what I have seen ,without any real explanation for it, as he shows it being used in TLJ.

The dice had weight, mass & the chain dangled & swayed between Kylo's fingers,...it was there physically......& then it vanished

Luke sat down....held Leia's hand & passed on the dice to her....he stood & held Leia's face as he kissed her on her forehead,...in a scene full of lens flares by the way

The projections had matter, weight & effect on surrounding objects when and if Luke wanted them too

Be careful with those edits CutThumb, *some* people take great offence at that, especially if its only a few seconds after the initial post. :lol

And by *some* I dont mean Bryancd.

I seem to have a problem where if I write much more than a sentence in reply the post doesn't go through but hangs around for ages and I loose it- so I have to keep adding it bit by bit. Excepting for my hyperspace post which I think is going to upset a few people so I'll wait for a while.

All good, It was a joke aimed at someone else. I`m far from perfect like everyone else and like everyone else have to make adjustments and additions from time to time. Only after a reasonable time of course, not like the next day etc

If the dice were actually there... then magically faded away.. and Luke could manifest solid objects..

Makes you wonder if Obiwan actually threw something in the hallway to distract the guards. Rather than a mind trick.

Serious now..

Im not following the ice "wolf/fox"

Was it someones pet? Why would it be so worried about if the "humans" followed or not.

Or was it really Luke?

Calling lightning out of the sky is no more or less a "strange new use" of the Force than the Emperor using Force Lightning. Or are you saying you're only OK with zero explanations for new Force powers as long as they are only in the original films? Because I missed the part where we got an explanation of the Emperor shooting lighting bolts out of his fingers.

That new power would have sure helped him against Sidious

I literally watched a hypnotist convince a room full of people that one hand was holding a brick (causing their hand to drop) and the other a balloon (causing their hand to rise).

If people in the real world can be convinced that something they can't even see has a physical impact on them (weight, etc.) by a hypnotist, then I have absolutely zero problem suspending my disbelief that a Jedi can trick people into believing they are interacting with a physical object when they are not.

I agree.

I simply don't understand how someone can say "Nothing was explored, and no questions were answered". Perhaps they didn't explore what *you* wanted them to... or they didn't answer the questions that *you* wanted them to answer... but that's not at all the same thing.

NOTE: *you* does not refer to jlee562
Youre kidding me right? JJ brought up tons of questions in TFA that I liked, and was waiting 2 years to see where they go. You know, he is telling a story after all, and thats what this new trilogy is supposed to do. Out with the old, in with the new. Fine. I get it. It wasnt just *me* wanting things answered, its the entire point of a trilogy/story. What in gods name did they explore? Canto Bight? Im talking about PLOT points of TFA, you know, the new trilogy. If Anakins saber was worthless, how did it "call" to Rey in TFA? How did Maz even get it? Who is Snoke? Why is he so powerful? How did he scramble the remnants of the Empire into the FO? What caused Ben Solo to turn to the dark side? Who are Reys parents, why is she so adept in the force? There are a ton of things that JJ set up to find out, the creative and interesting part of TFA, to be rubbed out in TLJ by Rian. Like many have pointed out, its stupid, and not "edgy" or "fresh" or even fun. Not only that, but its a disservice to the fans, because all of their favorite characters go out with a whimper. And its not like this is the second in a trilogy of movies we have never seen before, there are 7 other movies to come out before this. Was Yoda so powerful in life that he can control the weather in death? Did Yoda know Rey took the books, and thats why he burned the tree? Luke just died of exhaustion? Cmon. JJ now has to figure out how to end the mess Rian did. And as far as we know, this is the only trilogy we get with these new characters.

And +1 to why they didnt have a droid pilot the ship to jump to light speed into the other ships. They had 2 others ships to do that with, why the last one? The volley of lasers drove me insane. What happened to tractor beams too? Why didnt the FO use those?

Yeah, because Yoda clearly has to be a static entity not capable of learning ANY new tricks ever. Like, for instance, the ability to come back as a Force ghost after death. Clearly he must have known that trick all along and was merely lying when he said it was learned from Qui-Gon...There's just absolutely zero possibility that after death he might have been able to continue to explore using the Force...

I`ll take a giant leap and assume that *You* is *Me* I dont have any grand ideal for how the latest trilogy should pan out and have never commented in those terms, I mean Disney themselves clearly dont either. If I did have some sort of clear structure I would`nt be pitching here, I would *fax*it Disney and get a free trip to LA.

I`m only reacting to each movie put before me and pay good money to do so actually. If you saw the context of what came before that question then you would know why it was left unanswered. *Happy*?

NOTE : Oh by the way, I never said what you posed in your statement, that was someone else.
She is referring to me, and what I said. Her statement is ridiculous. Why does anyone want questions answered?

Ep IX.. 4.5 hours long

Maybe a cartoon... the trials, tribulations and heartache of being a Force Ghost..Staring, Oz as Yoda..Neeson as Qui-Gon.. and Guinness as Obiwan...Christensen as Luke....

Special guest Samuel Jackson

Just kidding about Luke...Hamill

I can finally say that I get SOME of the hate for this film & the reason behind it.

First off, again, I loved this film, for very personal reasons, which I may explain in a bit. I loved what Luke was teaching about the Force, in that it is neither good nor bad, but instead just what binds the good & bad together. The Jedi & their dogmatic view of the Light being the right, was exactly what brought the Order down. Luke, free to study the Force on his own, has discovered the true nature of the Force & that's what he needs to pass on.

Here's where I GOT the hate fans feel... Several months ago, I received the last Darth Maul comic series for a gift, & being pumped up on SW ATM, I decided to read it last night.

Mild Spoiler here...

As he was fighting the Jedi Padawan, taunting her with the Dark Side, & her responding with the Light Side...I absolutely DID NOT CARE in the least, because of where we are in SW right now, I see the conflict as petty & ultimately, wrong on both sides. Then I had the realization... Good luck with enjoying any Jedi based stories from here on out, & I wondered, did the TLJ just ruin SW for me?

I have to say, it may have tainted my view a bit, but since I like where I think it's headed, I'm ok with that. I've grown, the story's grown, I'm good... But I get how some may not be. I've accepted the balance. Which brings me to my personal feelings for this film.

As I've shared, I'm less than 50, & despite my best efforts, I've found myself disabled.i have issues with mobility, dexterity, & vision. This all hit me as my kids were finishing high school & heading off to college & the Marine Corps. I was a fairly good musician, & usually kept the road hot each weekend traveling with my kids & friends. Then in a little over six months, I could no longer drive, I could barely read, I had to quit my job of 16 years, I could barely hold an instrument, & my kids were going into a phase of life where they didn't 'need'me in a daily basis... Basically, everything I thought I was for the past twenty years were almost gone, & it sucked. Not telling this for sympathy, just setting the stage.

When who I was, was gone,I had to figure out who I am. I felt I had become someone that has spent a life amassing knowledge & skills that would no longer have any purpose, so I questioned, did I 'waste' all that time? The answer was an unequivocal NO!... because I began to teach & share what I knew. I had the time to teach, because I want trying to DO myself, & guess what I learned? Some of these folks have greater ability in things than I ever did in my prime. I can tell them how to accomplish things that I'd never be able to accomplish, but I knew HOW to do it.

I'm at total peace with where I am, & that's the greatest thing in the world.

I identify with this Luke. I've tried to do great things. I've failed. I've been arrogant & questioned what the point was. I've also come to the realization that it's not about who I am & what I can do. It's about what I have learned & what I can share.

In my little corner of the world, maybe one day the story of me, will be better than the me, & if it furthers someone else, then I'm OK with that.

First, thank you for sharing your story!

Second, I completely agree with your assessment RE: Luke. I personally felt this was one of the most powerful messages I got from the film. :)

So whats your explanation for the water then ????? And Yoda is supposed to be a "Ghost". Why doesn't he help Luke fry Kylo a bit with his newly acquired power. That would have shocked Ren AND LUKE would not have had to DIE!!!! Why waste that energy burning a tree when he could have roasted Ren or even Snoke for that matter. Yoda acts like a bit of git to me.

Well you took a mighty big leap, there... and as it turns out, you're DEAD WRONG.

I didn't think it was necessary to call the person out that i was quoting (not wanting to start a rant) so instead I used *someone*.

Screenshot (440).png

Nevertheless you wasted at least two posts using *someone* as a jab at me, and as it turns out I wasn't even talking to or about you.

But then, that's what happens when *someone* makes an assumption and runs with it.

NOTE: that last time *someone* DID in fact refer to Mr. Webber
