No it does not

Come up with your own story and see if it turns into a money grubbing Franchise.

Come up with your own ideas and roll the dice.

Thats the topic of conversation I have been having with people in the Industry :lol

And grow is the perfect word for. Star Wars needs to grow beyond the Skywalker’s and the OT cast.

I'd be more forgiving of the film's flaws if they just re-worked that entire sub-plot, especially by replacing the sacrifice of Holdo w/ Ackbar.

This is how I feel that whole thing would have played out better, removing the entire canto bight excursion

- Holdo still in command per Leia, despite Ackbar surviving
- Still a jerk to Poe, doesn't tell him the plans nor Ackbar
- Poe still thinks something's up, starts trying investigate
- Holdo turns out to be an FO infiltrator (hell, even just someone who felt it necessary to surrender to the FO under pressure of getting killed), she's the reason they were being tracked by the FO fleet, was purposefully expelling fuel to slow the ship down w/ out causing suspicion
- Poe stages the "mutiny" but fire fight ensues
- Leia wakes from coma in the moment, and kills Holdo
- The entire debacle took too much time, the ship is near dead in space, but Crait is nearby- Leia orders evacuation
- Ackbar stays behind to protect the fleeing vessels, does the hyperspace jump into Snoke's ship

I'd honestly have preferred something like that over what we got. Get's rid of the convoluted plot to get Finn and Phasma to fight for all 5 seconds, get's rid of Holdo and gives a more fitting death to Ackbar.

Do you have kids?

I still think it is a really cheap tactic to start throwing around labels and trying to discredit criticism by those means. It hasn't been a part of the conversation as far as I know, so what good does it do to bring it up here and start throwing out those accusations?

Also, what a horribly biased article. Here is how it reads:

"Everyone who doesn't like this movie HATES women and voted for Donald Trump because they are a bigot and misogynist. Let me tell you why! Because we found one guy on the internet that used bots to drive down the score and he said some things we didn't like or agree with."

At this point I think even Lucasfilm doesn't have a clue what's happening.

I've shamelessly stolen the rest of this post from elsewhere as I thought it was excellent -

.

Great movie.. Im going vote on RT right now :thumbsup, and tell everyone how "fresh and new" this movie is...

A tracking device placed via missile etc on the Raddus before it jumped away the first time would be such a simple and useful explanation behind it being tracked, they can't jump away until they find it, and teams can't scour the external hull as they're under fire constantly. Job done.

"You're sure the homing beacon is secure aboard their ship?"Wilhuff Tarkin, to Darth Vader[src]

So we figure they are using some kind of tracking

Perhaps but it’s being reported that way from a lot of media reporting sources. There have been some ugly stuff thrown at Kelly Marie Tran’s Wiki page.

Irrelevent questiong but hey I'm game :lol

Yep and she and her friends laughed and cringed at the latest travesty put out by the Mouse

I meant no so much as to whether you have kids who like or dislike he it, more that without Disney aquiring Lucasfilm and growing the franchise centered around new characters we would have nothing. George was done. I for one prefer more new content that I can share with my son then the alternative.

And we're just prepared to lump people who are critical of the film and fringe hate groups together because of small bits of evidence?

Is that a royal We? I didn’t write the articles, it never really crossed my mind. I’m not a SJW looking for monsters around ever corner.

I disagree , I think Disney was just the highest bidder

There is a difference between growing a story or concept in isolation and then simply asking and expecting everybody to accept it unquestioningly at face value because thats what you'd like them to do. Without any critical input back how do you know the strengths and weaknesses of your ideas or how to correct them?
That ,to be honest, sounds more than a bit off ( and I'm being polite here).
OK Rian lets play this game. Using your rules and logic of course.
There were several moments in TLJ when significant changes are made to how the universe in Star Wars operates. And the repercussions of that are quite tricky when you actually THINK about them.
Lets get imaginative using what Rian has brought into TLJ to grow it a little (in other words let me sprinkle a little creative dung on his ideas).
The apparently new ability to transport and materialize matter and objects via the Force was one of them. I like it. It has, how should I say this , dark possibilities.

I find myself asking wouldn't it be easier in the future just to pinch a blood vessel closed and give somebody a "Force" heartattack than to bother choking them around the throat, thats alot of time and effort . Next time go smaller. And deadlier. A tiny pinch of the fingers and wham they are gone (without any of that grandstanding of course). Nobody notices , natural causes and all that and its a win.
ORRRRRRRRR. Lets Force materialize a small blockage into somebodies major blood vessels. Don't mess about with a couple of dice!!!!
Or if thats a bit too dark why not go the old fashioned way of assassinations with a humours twist and transport a thermal detonator into somebodies trousers instead?
So ,for example ,Kylo has to drop his pants in front of the whole of the First Order just as he is giving a rousing speech!!! Oh the laughs that will get. Benny Hill, who was obviously using his Force ghost to influence the slapstick you injected into TLJ ,will love it. The rest of us, not so much.

I know that the use of "Force projection" killed Luke in the end , but did anyone else notice that Rey managed to get Kylo wet in that scene where she was semi sheltering under the Falcon without any seemingly conscious effort at all?
I'd highly recommend that she uses "Force poison / toxic gas " next time, its easier and sneakier than a lightsabre. Just use "Force skype" to get Kylo attention, he always seems pretty desperate to talk to you ,distract him somehow Rey (use your imagination) and zap, teleport, arrgghhhhhhhhhh, job done! . Millions of lives saved!!!

Then of course we have the Thor-yoda powerup as the "Force ghost" that " brings the lightning" down to fry the tree. Actually wouldn't it have been better to do that to that persky hyperspace tracker, or the First Order command bridge or even Kylo when he's least expecting it ? He hasn't even met you afterall and what a shocking surprise it would be, particularly if hes taking a bath (he does like to get his shirt off doesn't he?).
No. Lets fry the thousands of years old symbol of the Jedi order instead. Thats the real enemy. Not the First Order whose killing virtually everybody who matters of course. Notice did I, you didn't bother to help Luke out much when it really mattered did you? Let him die you did. Disappointed I was.

The general idea of "ghosts" in the SW universe so far as I can tell is that they can offer questionable advice but not do much else. If they were able to physically start fracking about in the real universe anytime and where they liked, you're really going to end up asking what in the hell have they been doing when the living people are really up against it and the outcome matters. Can Luke not like " Force haunt" Kylo Ren by suddenly appearing over his bed with a light sabre!!!!! Wouldn't that would really freak and creep him out!!!!!
Damn they have already done that haven't they???!!!
And with these endless possiblities really openning up to them now (as Rian wants us to grow) what can they really do in the future? Once these rules are broken its pretty hard not to keep doing it and pushing the envelope.
You can argue I've now grown the ideas in the Star Wars universe as Rian says we should. But did we really want to? Do we want "Force ghosts" to be able to return at will like "Ghostbusters" or have Jedi able to project false images of themselves like " Loki" in a Star Wars universe? I'd say not. This isn't Marvel.
If it was perhaps I'd have liked it better.
And then we have the new hyperspace " issues".
See my next post.

They should have just had a droid stay back and be the Hyperkaze pilot then the chick in the Oscars dress could have went to the after party. In fact it should have been C3PO.

It would have not only given him a dignified reason to be in the last two movies which has been sadly lacking but it would have provided Disney with a prime opportunity to kill off something else with special meaning from the past for no logical reason, with a logical reason.

No big loss for the all important bottom line either, kids dont buy C3PO toys nowadays do they Bryan?
Do they sell the red arms just on their own?

After reading through most of this I feel like Luke. Just let it die. We are all older and the glory days are gone. Let the new gen have their thing however bad we perceive it to be. I've learned to live with it and see the wonder in my children's eyes. It makes me smile which I don't do a lot of lately.

Disagree that George was done making new SW films? Disney was always George’s first choice to sell the company to.

I agree GL was finished with SW movie making..

I would have loved to know who GL's second choice was.. New Line...Fox.. Bad Robot...lol
