Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release) (Spoilers)

Because Lucas thinks he has to explain EVERYTHING to us,or himself~who knows but he sure likes to explain it all and try to tie everything and everybody together in someway.

If he kept it up we might find SW took place in one small padded cell......

Why does every single Star Wars thread constantly devolve into prequel/GL bashing? Why can't anybody just stick to the subject at hand? And everyone who does it says they disavow them anyway, so what's the point? I just don't get it.

People bash Lucas because he took the original films we loved, and stuck a bunch of random crap in front of the scenes we are trying to watch, then made sure all the random crap makes stupid noises to draw even more attention to it, plus he changed scenes that didn't need changing.

As for the prequels, if you were old enough to have been a kid when the first star wars came out then as an adult the idea of a new star wars film was so amazing, that when it actually arrived and you sat down and watched it, the slow gradual realisation as the movie went on that this was not star wars, with only tiny hints of what it could have been.

So yeah, understandably, we are still a little bitter.

Really the last thing this franchise needs is to start pulling the PT into the plot. I like to think of the poor story points as a regrettable drunken evening fading into memory. ;)

I totally disagree. Already, the critics are starting to shift their view of this film. They are picking up on it's calculated OT nostalgia act.

If they want credibility back they will let the whole franchise in organically. I'm not saying that they need to work in a lot, but a trip to the jedi temple on coruscant would actually add to the film.

It wouldn't feel so contrived

I generally like the Prequels, though I agree with a lot of the problems and I was old enough to see two of the original movies in the theater. I just don't see how people who thought the Prequels were so horrible are embracing a movie (TFA) that didn't bring anything new to the table other than a few characters. I guess fans are happy if you just throw the same stuff at them over and over as long as it's familiar.

Oh, I'm sure featuring acting that was actually good, likable characters, humor that didn't feature fart jokes and something that looks and feels far more like SW than the PT ever did had just a little something to do with the overwhelmingly positive reception. Yeah, the story was derivative of ANH but it's hardly the travesty some of the few haters seem to make it out to be. It's a valid criticism but there are far worse things they could've done. TFA isn't perfect but the positives far outweigh the negatives in my book.

TFA did have some lame jokes. Han Solo blindly fires at a Stormtrooper he didn't know was there. Do you think if that had happened in the Prequels that people wouldn't still be screaming about it?

The timing was good on the jokes. Someone said something about "Droid please" being too modern. I didn't take it that way at all. His voice didn't get all high pitched, he was merely pleading with BB-8.

Yeah, Han was way too situationally aware, but that guy was in his peripheral vision, so not a stretch.

I was screaming when they put Jar Jar in. I guess he was the natural evolution of Ewoks...

The "Droid please " thing was annoying because it was a whedonism. A lot of the humour was ripped from firefly.

is this when finn is negotiating with BB8 about revealing the hidden base?

Yes, he was asking BB-8 to give up the Resistance location

True, Han killing Boba was pure luck, whereas, that blind firing scene was just demonstrating pure skill...

Definatly. Han has had possibly 50 years of blaster use at that point. anyone would probably be able to do this when they are a 50 year veteran of master blaster :)
