Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release) (Spoilers)

I'd bet Luke boxed up Vader/Anakin's remains and took it with him, then interred them in the new Jedi temple as Anakin Skywalker, then when Kylo went nuts he took them and now he talks to them and probably meditates to them.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if we find Luke had a hall to remember ALL the Jedi killed during order 66 and up to Obi being killed by Vader.

you k w thought Luke took vaders helmet after the cremation. But now reading the visual dictionary it says near the helmet " scavenged from endor" . By that saying it just doesn't make me feel like Luke scavenged it.. Idk anymore lol

Since Vader turned to the light side and became a "force ghost" at the end of ROTJ shouldn't his body have "faded away" like Obi's and Yoda's did? Leaving just the mechanical suit behind?

this has been debated for years, I guess u can say it's still a grey area.

qui gon didn't disappear because we learn in the clone wars he didn't complete his training in the ghost trick and was the one who discovered it. he wasn't able to manifest himself like yoda and obiwan ( though there is controversy because he does manifest himself in one episode but we don't know if it's him or the force pretending to be him)

we know yoda and obiwan finished their training with help from qui gon. and with the completed training achieved the ghost trick, I think maybe that anikan was so powerful with the force his spirit manifested without as much training as yoda and obiwan needed

I still think darth Vader practiced this ghost trick training in the black pressure chamber we see in ESB

He was clearly able to manifest himself, and reverted to a non-charred state (even had fancy new Jedi robes ;) ).

I really hope we don't get some Darkside Vader/Anakin ghost in the next film..

I for one would love to sit through a 3 hour E8 and would be awesome to see a ghostly evil Palpatine very much like this dude

Yes, love me some LOTRs [emoji14]

Seriously, if Jedi can manifest in a ghostly form why not Sith?

For better or worse, I wouldn't be surprised if Vader/Anakin showed up as some sort of weird dual identity ghosts in the next one. When Anakin physically died the two personalities separated into the ether or somesuch. The darkside Vader persona appears to talk with Kylo and the lightside Anakin persona appears to talk to Rey. That was an idea that was apparently explored for TFA but I'm not sure how I feel about it. Weird stuff for sure...

Now here's a thought to ponder:what if the "Anakin" who shows up to Ben/Kylo is actually 'ol Palpy?? and the real Anakin is talkin' to Rey?? I could see it as Palpatine was a powerful and dangerous person.

very clever

Why not have the final battle in episode IX have all the Jedi and Sith that ever completed their training involved, something like this but more "blue". ;)

I would prefer it if Kylo was being manipulated into his actions by Snoke, and the Vader connection is just Kylo's own nutty idolatry at play. Frankly I hope we don't see any ghosts in the next movies at all (and please NOT Hayden!). Really the last thing this franchise needs is to start pulling the PT into the plot. I like to think of the poor story points as a regrettable drunken evening fading into memory. ;)

Man, GL really screwed the pooch with the force ghost thing. In the OT, ALL Jedi became ghosts. Anakin returned to the light, goes to Jedi heaven. Easy breezy. Clear cut redemption tale. Then in the PT, QGJ doesn't fade, and now Anakin's ghost makes ZERO sense. Because Vader hadn't been learning how to manifest himself from the netherworld of the force, or whatever mumbo jumbo Yoda said in ROTS, so...he gets a free pass? Good Lord I almost wish that Disney would just declare the PT non-cannon. It screwed up so... friggin... much.

Of course there is always the possibility that Anakin never got a force ghost, and either Yoda or Obi Wan just created that to make Luke feel better, I mean they pretty much lied to him for the entire trilogy, so one more time isn't that unlikely.

Can't trust those Jedi masters....

Totally agreed. What baffles me is that he decided to needlessly complicate things and open this can of worms but then never followed through on it. All we got is a scene shoehorned awkwardly at the end of ROTS where Obi-wan is basically told "oh, by the way...Qui-gon has discovered this little thing called immortality and he will train you...off screen of course." Wtf...If George didn't want to explore this seemingly huge development a little more thoroughly, why even bring it up at all? He could've easily just let us continue to assume all Jedi could do it and always have. It was just a thing they did when they died.
