Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release) (Spoilers)

still, it's hard to believe someone at disney would have let something like cousin slip by them. either in accidental recording, or in making surethe word wasn't clear enough. you'd think a recording of this proposed word would have popped up by now.

Did anyone notice when, Kylo took off his helmet when he was talking to Rey that he placed it in what looks like ashes. I am assuming that is Vader ashes. And the fact he says show me again the power of the Dark side. Does he see a force ghost of Vader?

I noticed that as well. I bet you are correct on those being his ashes... But then again, there was so much thrown at us! :)

Addressed so many times since we first glimpsed that saber. Luke was alone in that particular one of thousands of debris-clearing suction tubes. The crumpled whatever that fell past him down into Bespin's atmosphere was neither his hand nor the saber hilt -- unless one or the other of them managed to suddenly resemble crumpled cardboard.

Maz said there's a story to it. Hopefully we'll be privy to it in some medium...

I think there's going to be another flashback sequence in EP VIII. I was looking through IMDB.com and noticed that Harrison Ford is credited. I dont know if this is nothing more than an oversight and the page hasn't been updated, but I think another vision or flashback will help us understand how and why the saber wound in Maz's hands, her relationship with Han and her furry boyfriend - not to mention cool! ;)

JJ has zero to do with that game.

Agreed - if they are in fact cousins it does lead us to believe she is a Skywalker. BUT... this could be another misdirect. Which personally, I have no issue with. Let them confuse the heck out of us. We wont know until we see EP VIII. I love it!

Don't see it on IMDB.com

Yeah, but is that canon or EU stuff that Disney tossed out?

I tweeted to Pablo Hidalgo of the story group asking if he could confirm we never see the saber falling out of the shaft with Luke and he confirmed what we see falling in ESB is part of the weather vane Luke lands on.

Pablo also confirmed the dialogue is "curses".

a few years ago there was a thread on the object falling in empire. some argued it was lukes hand but before too long, somebody posted a screengrab. it was not a hand but a mechanical object resembling nothing like a hand or a saber so aye.

that is how i knew that rumor about a hand with a saber in it floating in space was most likely false and a horrible fan idea.

Actually, it was the opening of the film for a while and had concept art n storyboards. I don't know if they did any visual effects of it, but it was true. I'm glad they dumped it.

I am too. That was one of the few spoilers I had heard about early on and thought it sounded pretty silly. In fact I discounted it until the lightsaber showed up in the second trailer. I suddenly began to worry that it was true! The survival and recovery of that lightsaber still gives me a little heartburn but I guess we can just chalk it up to "the will of the Force".

I was relieved that they stayed true to the trend of the OT and let the intro shot be a star destroyer.

There was a lot in the original story following the lightsabers travels!

A nice training session for Daisy Ridley and John Boyega - a bit spoilery though:

That's what I'm thinking. Only thing is I don't see Luke taking his fathers helmet only. All speculation mind you but taking his dead fathers helmet alone seems a bit morbid...where as I can see him wanting to give his father a proper resting place....meaning all of the remains.
Then, if you consider Kylo Ben taking the helmet from his dead grandfather's grave...you kind of get a deeper sense of how messed up Kylo Ben is. I dunno....I think there's got to be something more to the fact that Kylo has Vader's helmet. How did he get it? Were the remains hidden in some temple? Did Kylo go to Endor to find the remains? Were the remains even left on Endor?
It just seems to me that Vader's remains would end up in some protected place...a jedi temple of sorts seems to make sense, and Luke appears to have had one.
Again, just thinking out loud here...and sure, I guess I'm wanting to believe there's more to it. :)

David

i have to agree with you, i too believe the remains were brought some where. all joking aside if the remains were left on endor i think the ewoks would have a field day.. look what they did to make a dumb set...

we dont know, it could be possible that reys identity could have been revealed in the ep7 and then cut. supposedly theres almost another hour of footage that was been cut, along with a 20minute scene dedicated to just chewbacca

maybe they were going to reveal reys connection, and then changed their mind. and maybe just maybe infinity dropped the cousin ball

my friend gave me a link he found on Facebook, the article talked about all the scenes that were finished and then cut for the final film. one of the scenes that was cut was the lightsaber in space, I'm so curious if we end up getting this on a bluray bonus. i too agree i much rather not see the saber falling in space, and i like how Maz pulled a LOST and didnt tell the story but saved it for another time

i figured it was just found on bespin and traded/sold/and stolen its whole life after until a force sensitive obtained it and gave it to maz

I had always assumed it was something from his belt that is falling. I never once thought it was his hand and saber. It's always looked like a pouch of some kind. :)

Apparently, since I have the TFA book, it explains how a certain trader found the saber and brought it to Maz's castle place. I guess there are people living on the ground in Cloud City!

pretty cool, Boyega looks like he is using the light saber like a baton in that scene as well, they did well with that
