Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release) (Spoilers)

Why must every design be groundbreaking or shocking?

The look of the other troops, characters are overall pretty original & impressive.
Maybe crossing him with Bossk reptile features would be better.
Otherwise he will look like some 7ft Gollum, kinda plain.
Look forward to hear his backstory. though.

Some really good interviews with all the leads cast members. Excellent insight into the actors and the characters! No spoilers so maybe not a good thread for this viddie!

Let's keep in mind we have no idwa what this guys story is, and that is what makes or breaks the character. I like the look, really odd and disturbing.

So they're not doing the 'eyes turn to orange' thing? That's cool.

Shame on you Bryan for bringing that Prometheus image up. Shame! SHAME! At least the artists didn't say the inspiration was a combination of Elvis and the Statue of Liberty.

He's not a Sith, at least I am pretty sure about that. And it give enough human face for Serkis to really act and make it real. If it was some crazy alien design you loose that.

I've been going back and watching all the available footage-- have you noticed that BB8 is different in certain shots? At some points his head sits either higher or lower against the bottom sphere.

I mean, in some shots it appears like the top dome doesn't have a flat bottom and it "cups" onto the lower section. Yet in other shots, the head appears to have more of a flat bottom and seems to "sit" on top of the bottom sphere.

Does that make any sense? Do you understand what I am trying to say? Has anyone else noticed this?

I have seen a couple of hundred pictures from the new movie, but so far one thing has been missing: No Twi'leks!
The first ones in Star Wars were Oola and Bib Fortuna in Return of the Jedi. The Special Revision of that movie got a Twi'lek backup singer.
Each of the prequels had several sexy scanitly clad females aides to senators and pod racers and there was a fat male Twi'lek senator and a prominent Twi'lek Jedi that was very popular: Aayla Secura. In the Clone Wars we saw a Twi'lek city and the Rebels series has a Twi'lek Rebel as one of the main characters. But where are they in The Force Awakens?
I had been looking forward to seeing a more "normal" Twi'lek male character in one of the new movies that I could choose to costume as - one that is not obese and deformed. But most of the aliens (as in "non-humans", I am not a racist...) seen so far have been more like Star Wars-versions of aardvarks, vogons and daggits ... but I am not built like Kiran Shah.

No Twi'leks in ANH and ESB either. I know they weren't invented yet, but still. Just as no Ugnaughts in other films, heck there are certain films we don't see certain aliens we saw in previous ones, or ones later. This movie he made the universe a bit bigger by adding almost all new aliens. There is Ackbar and Nien, Chewie of course, and probably some more we have yet to see. I know by going to different planets we've never seen before helps add the possibility of not seeing the same ones over. I am betting more familiar ones will turn up in the next 2 films as well.

I don't see Disney allowing girls with mesh see through tops in SW movies ever again.

They didn't always wear just those. Geez. Oola was the one.

And R2-D2 had difference in the OT, he had those leg struts where Kenny Baker put his feet in noticable in some shots.
