Seems to me like Poe has some exaggerated hand movements when he's flying the X-Wing, like he's overacting. Looks like the flight stick is too far in front of him and too loose. I wonder if this is a nod to some of the old vintage films (non Star Wars) that had closeup cockpit scenes. I remember watching some old WWII movies with my dad and the pilots did the same thing, like they were really trying to sell the illusion of flight and movement with those gestures. Some of the old space movies did the same thing. Like remember some of the films in the 80s (hell, even now) where they show someone driving and instead of holding the wheel steady they're constantly rocking it back and forth? Maybe it's just me, not sure why I picked up on that.
Also, I'm still holding out for Rey being Luke's daughter. Not that he abandoned her, but maybe left her with her mother because we was worried about his power, etc, and then something happens to the mother but he's already out of the picture. Wishful thinking.......

I can see it. Han's backstory information is awesome. But does the reference to his life as a "family man" being shattered by a "profound" tragedy that ultimately sends him back on the scoundrel path perhaps imply that at least one of his and Leia's kids were killed in the attack on Luke's training facility? Would certainly add some gravitas to Luke's self-exile as well if a direct family member was lost.
Okay, yeah, I gotta break my addiction to this thread within the next 48 hours....

Yeah, he's hands son. And he did kill, along with the Knights of Ren I assume, the Jedi students at Luke's academy. A synopsis a copied..
The New Republic is still around.
First Order an "emergent power" and "descendants of the Galactic Empire" are violating treaty restrictions by amassing power.
Starkiller is a "sun-targeting" superweapon.
Supreme Leader Snoke keeps his "command center" mobile (not Starkiller).
Hux (his page is cut off a bit) - His father was an Imperial (Brendol Hux I assumed from the book "The Secret Academy" and therefore the originator of the plan to raise troops from infancy). Hux doesn't have experience in actual warfare and relies on simulations (very interesting info there). Kylo does not respect him as a warrior. They both vie for the approval of Snoke. He has little understanding or patience for "the mystical side" of the First Order that Kylo represents. He needs Snoke's approval to use the superweapon.
Hux was a child when the Empire surrendered. His father is one of the Imperials that fled to the Unknown Regions, which the Empire had secretly been exploring (As guessed at from Aftermath).
Hux grew up with legends of the Empire saving the galaxy from the violence of the Clone Wars. He believes the galaxy needs to be saved from itself and that the New Republic is too weak to prevent "inevitable chaos."
Han married Leia (YES!!!). Transition to peaceful life wasn't easy. Called "former captain" of Falcon. He became a "family man" and successful "racing pilot." After a "profound tragedy" (wonder what that could be...) upended this life, he returned to being a "tramp freighter captain, smuggler and freelance law bender." Hooked up with Chewie again. Finds himself once again at the center of chaos. I really hope he is still technically married to Leia.
Maz is boisterous (probably a cover like Yoda) pirate legend. Started many young "brigands" in the "freebooting trade" (Hint at being Han's mentor as we already know). "Preeminent font of smuggler wisdom." "Preternatural gift for sensing the shifting tides of fortune in the galaxy." In her castle, Rey has an "overwhelming vision brought on by the power of the Force."
Maz has kept secret her Force powers and was never a Jedi, though she knew Jedi. She has a bust of Jedi Master Cherff Maota. She collects and protects various relics because she believes one may someday make a difference in the future (big hint that she has the saber).
Lor (Another cut off page) was part of an underground Force religion (The Church of the Force) during the Empire. They followed the ideals of the Jedi and believed the Light would return. He is not Force sensitive.
Kylo Ren - Confirms he studied with Luke and wiped out the other students to prevent the Jedi order from returning. And basically says he is Han and Leia's son without saying it. He has the most powerful Jedi and Sith blood in him. Believes it is his "birthright" to rule weaker beings in the galaxy.
Nicknamed "Jedi Killer" by those in the First Order.
He wants to become immune to the Light so he can succeed where Vader failed.
Confirms the guard blades are necessary to vent the energy and not primarily guards. Kyber crystal is "cracked" which is why it is unstable. It is made of modern components but is an ancient design (which was already confirmed at Launch Bay).

Missed opportunity for another cool costume to do (like the old fleet troopers or death star gunners).

without checking any ten pages of back thread so close to the movie release, a question from an entertainment reoprter friend of mine.
anyone know ifthey are doing a NY red carpet? or if the LA red carpets are going to be live streamed? apparently he thought one of them was.

I can see them fine. The only way I could see a Jedi Academy being wiped out is if Luke was not there. There's no way some upstart would defeat Luke. I hope that gets explained.
Yeah they said he betrayed Luke so it sounds like this happened without him being there to stop it.
