All the new lightsabers that are "blade masters" are made so they can attach to other sabers. They're pretty cool. Doubt it's a movie thing.

I wouldn't say the entire concept failed. The fact that they got fat and happy and became too complacent was what killed them. That's no reason not to try to fix what was wrong and start over. I'm sure over the years the Jedi did more good than bad. Plus it's obvious the bad guys have no problem creating Force users to oppose the Republic/Resistance or whatever.
I'm also pretty sure GL wasn't a fan of the EU version of Luke. I don't think Luke would ever restart the Jedi Order. I think he would train a few select people to wander the galaxy and be like Kane in Kung Fu.
This may have been answered already, so sorry for asking. I know the broad strokes of the movie, but as far as what Kylo wants, is he tracking down the GRAFLEX because it was originally Anakin's?
The saber somehow can help them find Luke, so Kylo and Snok want it to find and kill Luke and the Resistance wants to stop them. What is more clea is no one knows where Luke is and the saber is the key to finding him.

I was in line at TARGET for the FF release Thursday night. I was talking to a casual fan that knew a few spoilers & we got to talking about Kylo's motivations in seeking out Sith artifacts, especially Vader related, & she goes, "AH! That's why Luke's old saber is so prominent in the trailer. Kylo Ren would want it since Anakin built it.".
After all the spoiler info I've kept up with, that suddenly clicked & made a lot of sense to me. :facepalm
Just thought I'd check here to see how plausible that'd be.
Kylo is definitely interested in completing the work he feels Vader began in controlling the galaxy but him being a collector of Sith artifacts has sort of gone away from the rumors.
So on fathead.com there are new images I'd not yet seen of the cast and ships. I've zoomed in on the images using the zoom feature adobe flash that is built into the site, is there a way to pull the high res image from the zoom, the entire Hi Res image, not just the zoomed part? Which would be pointless on a galactic scale. A handful of Jedi would be wiped out with no problems whatsoever for the Empire. Yes Luke by himself toppled the Empire, but I doubt he would have done it had Vader not stepped in. The Emperor would have most likely killed Luke.
But maybe the Force doesn't want to be used as a Galactic police force.

Yep, there was. I was very sure it was going to be released, and had heard way back that this was the proposed date. Its apparently a much faster paced trailer with far more of the big effects and action scenes glimpsed and cut into it (I guess because they are fairly completed) and it was supposed to support the marketing impact of Force Friday. After that fifteen second teaser I'd have said it was a dead cert but nowt happened. I do know sales of TFA product were very strong and perhaps they decided not to go with it, as it could have pulled the focus from all the toy product posting on social media.Its a different age of advertising now and FFriday was trending very heavily on the net. If the trailer had hit maybe the product interest would have dropped away. Certainly items like the remote BB 8 have benefitted hugely from all the social media coverage its had, but that will all tail away towards the end of the week.

First is that because of the rather negative feedback from the fans about Luke having a very restricted appearance towards the end of the film, they've had a rethink and are going back to shoot additional footage. This seemed likely seeing as they were there very briefly last year.
Then a lot has been said that this is for EP8 which is also just as likely given the 7 ends where 8 will begin, and given the seasonal filming restrictions on the island it would make sense to get out there and get the footage shot now whilst they have the time. But a lot has been said about the fact that EP8s script is not due to shoot until spring next year.
Given that the cut of EP7 has been seen, it could be they (Disney and JJ) felt it could have done with a slightly different ending,
I'd guess its likely that it could easily be a combination of all the above. Given that it is unlikely to need a lot of effects work a lot of the footage could easily be added to the end of 7 if its dialogue heavy, and they could continue shooting footage needed for 8 as well. Given that Rogue One is also shooting now production work hasn't really shut down so its not like its a hard restart.
