Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release) (Spoilers)

Rumors have been swirling around that Rey is Luke's daughter. Her Force vision, when she touches the light saber, leads us to believe she is next in line for the Saber. Luke's reaction to seeing her is very puzzling to me. I got the sense he didn't recognize her but through the Force he knows who she is or at least has an idea. He knew there was something going on.

If she is in fact Luke's daughter then, from what we know of Rey's ignorance toward the Force, Jedi, Sith, etc., her mother (who we've never met) must have NEVER told Rey about her father, the Jedi, etc. When Rey's mother learned of the First Order and their continued hunt for Skywalker, she hid Rey on Jakku. I think it was Rey's mother leaving her there. We know nothing of Rey's past... yet.

EDIT: We hear both Old Ben and Young Ben tell Rey these are her first steps... Is she a Kenobi? EDIT #2: That might be the dumbest question ever! NO, she is not a Kenobi! LOL

Ep VII created even more questions - which is awesome! lol ;)

So, how did Kylo Ren Ben get Vader's crispy helmet?
What if it was with the rest of Anakin's body, with Luke in some temple in and around the place where they were being trained? I guess, what if Luke took Daddy's remains to either keep them safe - away from the remaining Empire, or just to give him a proper resting place?
If by that token, what if Luke is guarding the remains of Vader?
Do we know anything about how Ren Ben got Vader's Helmet?

I don't want to read into it too much but has anyone discussed that part yet?

That's what I'm thinking. Only thing is I don't see Luke taking his fathers helmet only. All speculation mind you but taking his dead fathers helmet alone seems a bit morbid...where as I can see him wanting to give his father a proper resting place....meaning all of the remains.
Then, if you consider Kylo Ben taking the helmet from his dead grandfather's grave...you kind of get a deeper sense of how messed up Kylo Ben is. I dunno....I think there's got to be something more to the fact that Kylo has Vader's helmet. How did he get it? Were the remains hidden in some temple? Did Kylo go to Endor to find the remains? Were the remains even left on Endor?
It just seems to me that Vader's remains would end up in some protected place...a jedi temple of sorts seems to make sense, and Luke appears to have had one.
Again, just thinking out loud here...and sure, I guess I'm wanting to believe there's more to it. :)

HMMMM... I would like to think that Luke simply buried Vader's body on Endor. BUT having given this more thought Vader was more machine than man and I don't think a simple "campfire" would have done much to his metal frame. I don't pretend to be a SW EU expert. Is there anything in any novel that describes what the Jedi burial rituals are/might be?

Did anyone notice when, Kylo took off his helmet when he was talking to Rey that he placed it in what looks like ashes. I am assuming that is Vader ashes. And the fact he says show me again the power of the Dark side. Does he see a force ghost of Vader?

Eh.. since they basically just remaking the OT, she's probably Han and Leia's daughter they had while Kylo was off training with Luke and that will be the big plot twist in EP8- The First Order Strikes back. She looks younger so I could see it being they dumped her on Jakku after he turned, and why he was so concerned about "the girl" plus they make it too obvious hinting that it's suppose to be Lukes Daughter.

I want to know how they recovered Lukes Saber he lost on Bespin since we know Luke fell down the same chute and dump out over a planet.

Luke weighs probably 150 or so lbs. The saber hilt weight less than 5 lbs. Perhaps the lighter stuff is filtered into the junkpile and an Ugnaught sorting thru junk took notice?

First, I'll say again that despite rumors and leaks and speculation that is some hit and some miss, the movie isn't out yet and we have no real, clear knowledge of the content of the plot and its pacing. From what I know of story construction, I'm laying my bets on Finn deserting, his compatriots taking exception to this, Rey helping him escape, by chance or design, on the Falcon, that -- again by chance or by design -- the come into contact with Our Heroes, Hand and Chewie board first, we get that line, and the OT folks have some presence in the film for the rest of it. That moment above is most likely the transition from act one to act two. Depending on how much needs to be in the first act, and how long the total run-time is, probably about 40 minutes or so in.

Well, you're not too far off. Rey is portrayed as being a local to Jakku. Finn does desert and is captured by Kylo after torching a village searching for the saber. Po, sent to look for the saber is also captured. Po and Finn meet in the brig and despite not trusting each other escape and crash on Jakku where Finn at least is saved by Rey. They leave Jakku, but not in the Falcon and are captured by a pirate ship where they meet Han and Chewie. Then they get back down to the Falcon and escape the First Order. Or something along those lines. :)

Its funny reading speculations in this thread,.....even as recent as April this year

Addressed so many times since we first glimpsed that saber. Luke was alone in that particular one of thousands of debris-clearing suction tubes. The crumpled whatever that fell past him down into Bespin's atmosphere was neither his hand nor the saber hilt -- unless one or the other of them managed to suddenly resemble crumpled cardboard.

Maz said there's a story to it. Hopefully we'll be privy to it in some medium...

well, in the books, and it's been a while...but wasn't it mara that found it somehow in cloud city and delivered it to the empire? then the clone luuke used it.

One of the Ugnaughts retrieved the hand and lightsaber from a maintenance drone and was going to incinerate the one and melt down the other, but Vader tracked them and "persuaded" him to turn them over. Vader had plans, but the Emperor compelled him to bring them to him at the Mount Tantiss cloning facility on Wayland. Mara probably didn't see it until Luuke was wielding it in his fight against Luke.
