Star Wars The Acolyte (tv series)

I'm glad some fans are enjoying this series, good for them. For me, all I can say so far is it's a miss. I found the dialogue and story weak, none of the characters were interesting to me, and the Trinity / Matrix / karate non-sense was a bit much (I don't care if that fighting style is sourced from one of the millions of Star Wars books out there, maybe that's where it should stay).

And this character..................

looks like she's about to do a 3 hour review on YouTube of why the Star Wars Galactic Cruiser hotel was not worth it.

I'll finish the series and hope it finds it's footing, but I'm not optimistic.

Wish I had the time to catch up… I will like to add I liked the first two episodes, I also like tigers and long walks on the beach with a starlit night

I also like eating live bees and having needles stuck in my eyeballs.

I had very little interest in this when it was mentioned.

Then I saw cast and creator interviews with some (what I thought to be) over the top ‘Star Wars saved my life’ and other tribble that made me groan.

And of course, I even went on record calling out other SW shows that I thought missed the target.

But, out of curiosity I watched them. And they weren’t as bad as I was expecting them to be. I had biased myself against them because of watching silly people on interviews saying silly things.

The first two episodes were entertaining. Not ‘blow you away, epic’ by any means, but entertaining. Enough that I’ll continue to watch them.

I think some are just attuned to hating any new Disney Wars because it’s become the cultural expectation now.

Again, Mando season three, TBOBF and Ahsoka all fell flat for me.

I liked Kenobi, even though the plot was dumb and canon breaking, but come on Hayden was amazing in it!

Andor is the only solid win for me.

So far this one has promise to me.

It’s a strange dichotomy where fans HAVE to hate any Disney Wars in order to be TRUE fans.

But then again, hate has pretty much become the driving force in our culture anyway now, so I shouldn’t be surprised, I guess.

I count find a pic right now, but that makeup for Torbin (Dean-Charles Chapman) was dreadful. I assume we're getting a flashback for a younger Torbin, but maybe trying to "age-up" a 20 year old who looks 12 was too big a job for a bad fake beard and a balding wig (plus the cartoonish scar). It made him look like a pedophile (though, idk, maybe that's what they're going for)

I just looked at that Torbin guy like "oh.... weird alien design... must be of some race with weird facial hair"

Wasn't thinking flashbacks, ha. Just jumped out as really bad makeup - like the green woman.

Logan girl's makeup doesn't bug me though. She just looks like another Star Wars/Trek alien. Human with face paint. but less paint-looking.

Side Note: I'm glad none of the main characters aren't whatever Ahsoka is. Their non-moving tentacle heads have always bugged me.

That one Jedi's hair though... Milli Vanilli as he's been called. Yikes.

I'd rather he had the tentacles.

So the opening "scroll" said 100 years before the empire, so that's like 119 BBY?

I'm mostly curious about the dark side mystery figure (so spooky ) even though that idea is farrrr from unique. Hope they don't pull a Snoke . I like their helmet design. Very similar look to Kylo and his gang of friends but I like the toothy mouth look. Looks like a shark lol!

Lots of aliens at the bar was a plus for me as well :). Still on the fence about the show, CGI was no greater than a 5/10 but the sets were cool. In terms of the story, not a fan but what can you do. Hopefully nothing crazy is added that changes the PT and OT.

I would have liked a different voicebox for this character... Something like cobra commander or may be like slythering Parseltongue.

Yeah, I saw that and IMMEDIATELY thought "dude said wrong name. I get what he means tho", and didn't think about it a moment longer... then find out he's being dragged?!?!

People need to chill.

Also, there is ZERO chance that Harrison Ford could answer a single question from a Kid's Star Wars O.T. trivia book.

This. All of this. The hate on that dude for getting the name wrong is so forced.

There is no hate, 99% of real normal people could care less about that actor or what he said. It's all manufactured clickbait bot driven algorithmic nothingness. If you believe in this stuff then I put you in the same category of adults that still believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

It’s really no different than at Celebration when Hayden was asked if he likes sand. And the MC was expecting him to deliver a line he’d done 25 years earlier.

You could see it on his face that that’s the last question he wanted to have been asked.

Yeah, fans can get full of themselves and feel entitled to be ‘raging’ when a star can’t remember a throwaway line in a scene that was done in one take.

Shatner said it best. “Get a life!”

And I guess I'll be "that guy", probably because ya know, I was born in the 1900s and have a teenage daughter, but did we really need a scene with Yord and his shirt off, standing in front of what appears to be an adolescent female Padawan? I know the actress is 19 years old, but kinda putting off chomo vibes and was completely unnecessary as far as the story goes. We get it, you're cut, and not one of those Hoveround Jedis we see at the Cons, but that was as cringy and pointless as a shirtless Kylo Ren.

But people complain Star Wars is sexless. Same with Marvel…

So can’t really win there.

Was really weird tho.

Pretty sure Kylo was because ex marine Adam Driver is like “I do NOT have to run around in the shower to get wet!!!”

This is one of the internet's oldest meme's from the 90's AOL days....act accordingly. When smart phones came out you had from 2k9 to 2019 to grow up and learn this lesson. After 2019....buckwheats

Ignoring your particular choice in meme at the moment for this situation, you seem to have completely missed the point of my comment. I already claimed that the "hate" towards the actor was forced (AKA manufactured, clickbait, whatever other term you wish to use to describe how performative it may be). Regardless, such comments about the actor's "inability to remember simple facts" were still made, and are still just as annoying genuine or not. It's not a matter of believing it, it's a matter of delineating between genuine criticism or sound and fury signifying nothing. Something the Star Wars fandom LOVES to do. Scream their heads off about minor things that no normal person could give a crap about.

Look at that, I made the same point you did without resorting to using a tasteless, outdated meme.
