I just assumed this is a different time, and they didn’t just pull lightsabers and ballet dance around unless EXTREMELY necessary.

Right…

“I could end this, but I’m going to dance around and do ‘Force-Fu‘ with you and your 6 inch butter spreading weapons instead…”

;)

The Force works in mysterious ways, indeed.

Did any Jedi pull a lightsaber until Mae pulled knives? She definitely reached for both Trinity’s and Sol’s as they hung from the belt.

Weirdly this series hasn’t bugged me like the last few…

It’s no Andor…. But what is?

How can you blame the dastardly duo of Yoda and Obi-wan for being so evil, manipulative and cunning? Shouldn't it be the fault of the one's who taught them? And the one's that taught them? And the one's that taught them? And the one's that taught them? And the one's that taught them? And the one's that taught them?.........................................................................................................lol

Because in their view, Yoda and Obi-wan are just the equivalent of The Emperor? No wait, The Emperor is good now...it wasn't his fault...Yoda covered up the murder of his wife and that's why he turned to the darkside as well...because Palpatine was a padawan of Yoda at first and another Jedi ( OBi-wan's Father) caught them violating that strict code of falling in love with someone and murdered his wife to protect the Jedi Code...lol...which ultimately led to Anakin secretly marrying Padme and a perfect means of manipulation by Palps...but had not Yoda covered it up...nevermind, i digress

I've said it over and over...It's only an upside down world that has to turn everything that is rightside up, upside down in order to justify its position.

The reactions to this show are giving me 'The Last Jedi' vibes. It sounds like more deconstructing classic SW for its own sake.
Yes...the articles seem to support that and are unapologetic unfortunately

Well... I'm the one that brought up Yoda, & that was based solely on what's shown on the screen, so please enlighten me as to where I was wrong?

I'll even forget what I alluded to in the HR novel because it's not of interest to most here.

I'm legitimately curious.

Apparently, Episode 3 will be another “Last Jedi Moment” for the saga…

Tune-in to see.
So those that are watching should be prepared to be subverted by subverted expectations...or the fact that the fan base will openly see The Acolyte do a "Holdo" in an attempt to do lightspeed through the OT ? Lol

You don't think that take isn't an extremely cynical view of one of the most iconic characters in cinema? If he's such an awful character, why is he cherished by millions as a hero? A flawed hero, but hero nonetheless. The logic doesn't gel. He's not an anti hero.

Never said he was an awful character, but he DID make some bad decisions. Being an icon doesn't absolve a character or make them immune from criticism.

Here's my life in SW & the reason why, at 52 years old, why I still love it so much...

When it came out, I was 6, & it had robots & spaceships & lasers & creatures & a really, REALLY pretty girl. That's the totality of was it was when I was 6.

The beauty of it was that, as I got older & matured, so did the story. For a space fantasy, it was incredibly deep in areas, & as I grew, I was able to see the emotional struggles that the characters were going through. It was growing up WITH me, part of that was realizing that even my childhood heroes could be & were, human & capable of making mistakes in actions & judgement.

I know that not everyone feels that way, & it seems that the simple idea of looking at huge parts of our childhoods with the eyes of an adult is taken personally.

My point was this... I, & I alone, think Yoda will absolutely show up & will be the reason the Council doesn't know about the Sith, & when it happens, everyone will cry foul & claim that it's some sort of character assassination. My point is that deception for the sake of the "Greater Good" is NOT out of character.

I mean, the Jedi thought the Sith died out 1,000 years before. Now AFTER the Jedi thought that, the Rule of Two was established. So, how did Yoda know about that at the end of TPM? That question to me isn't canon breaking, but an interesting avenue for some story.

I'm all for flawed characters, because I too am nowhere near perfect. I also see more depth in these stories as I age and the humanity of the characters only deepens in large part because of their flaws and how they overcome them. If I got too worked up about it, I apologize.

I mean this is the guy who started stealing Luke's food and beating his droid for 20 minutes before telling him who he really was. I'd imagine after being 800 years old he hasnt had a perfect stand up reputation every time.
Dude I hope that’s sarcasm and you being funny.Yoda acted that way to test Luke and see how Luke would respond. I am sure Yoda did have a stand up reputation as he could admit his faults, learn and grow from them.

No apology needed Brother.

We disagree on certain viewpoints, & I've been told by a mutual friend that I shouldn't get worked up about it either.

I'm just at a place where I don't have a ton of avenues in my life to really discuss my interests & passions, so I love getting that interaction here. I get excited when new SW stories come out, no matter the media, but it seems like that's just not going to be possible here, & it's my fault for expecting it.

I don't say that in a 'poor pitiful me' way, but I'm just not going to waste my energy trying to have conversations about things I enjoy, while having to wade through the constant repeated negative opinions, memes, & general crapping on the subject of a thread, all made mostly by folks who aren't even going to watch it.

I just brought up the Yoda speculation because it was mentioned earlier in the thread, & my thoughts were based on what's actually occurred in the past, not simply because I had a negative opinion of George Lucas, Irving Kirshner, Frank Oz, or 20th Century Fox.

Bottom line, I stand by what I said as an opinion & discussion point, but didn't mean to disparage your opinion of the character. Hope we're cool.
