Ok... but did you enjoy it?
Hmmm, I think it’s okay. There’s nothing that stood out to me as, “wow, I can’t wait to talk about this,” nor was there anything that was so terrible that it stood out as bad.

I think things are pretty dirty looking for it to be high republic, as stuff seemed cleaner and more crisp in TPM. I like the Jedi robes being a bit more flagrant. The green lady’s makeup needs better shading for it to look good. It was cool to see Nemoidians back. What else…There’s a fat Jedi. That a nice nod to fans.

I am into it so far. That hard part is sticking the landing, so we shall see.

However im very confused, new star wars show released and it is not being shredded here...i dint know how to react to that ;) ;)
It may not be shredded here for various reasons...fans are not watching it...haven't watched it yet...won't watch it...are being polite... lol. Conversely, I don't see an overwhelming amount of praise for it either, other than mediocre stuff. I see opinions of the set, costumes, feel, dialogue etc. "The look", which on those elements, isn't raving with accolades either.
Some people, I'm sure, are waiting to watch the whole series before doing a review. I did that myself for one show...can't remember which one, maybe Andor but anyways, the whole " no news is good news" I'm guessing, will be answered by next week...unless this buzz about the 3rd episode is another attempt to stoke the fire of controversy to get people to watch. Hmm, idk.

I like the suspense so far. Only killing 4 Jedi, don’t know quite just yet. The one took his own life willingly. They did something that seems as of right now, was bad and is being buried.

The setting is fine. It didn’t look High Republic, but wasn’t that a thousand years ago anyway?

The pacing was good. Slower when needed, faster when needed as well.

The fight scenes were original and haven’t we been asking for that?

Gripe. The Padawan is more than comfortable speaking up in front of and opposed to her master. And then the guy in charge just goes with her plan and dismisses her master. That seemed out of place. Sort of like STSNW where the crew get to be snippy with Pike all that they want.

A few notes on second watch.

Interesting first for Star Wars. A space walk with an actual space helmet.

The Jedi’s ship looked like a scaled down Klingon ship.

Also. I want a PIP.

There's just not enough "there" there to have a strong opinion yet. So far, it reminds me the most of Kenobi -- a pleasant enough diversion, but inessential. One of those projects where it isn't bad, per se, but you do wish that a hundred million dollars had been spent on something more vital.

You are a very fair minded person, thank you for your input. I heard that the main Jedi Master(Sol) was a very good actor and had a good performance, where the rest of the cast, not so much. Also, that the dialogue was very robotic, unnatural and the script was very weak. What say you? Do you think that was an accurate assessment?

I refer you to my previous comment about Kenobi.

That really is the closest comparison I can think of from the other SW shows. The acting is fine, the dialog is functional exposition peppered with a bit of character stuff. I did notice a line or two where Lee Jung-jae's delivery felt stiff or weird, due I think to him not being fluent in English. Otherwise, Sol is okay. He has a good scene with Osha. I like the actor, he's got charisma and good chemistry with the actress playing Osha/Mae.

A lot of how I feel about this show will depend on where it goes and how it all wraps up. I do like the look inside the Jedi at their height, there's hints of politicking and worldbuilding there that I enjoyed. The big mystery is "what, exactly, did the Jedi do to create a killer?" which isn't quite as riveting as a proper whodunit, but it's okay.

The only other thing that jumped out at me -- and I will preface this by saying it's not a knock against the cast or the quality of their work -- was the total absence of white men in the first episode, and the presence of only one white man in the second. It doesn't affect the quality of the show, but as a white man myself the large shift from other Star Wars media (and the media landscape in general over most of my life, to be fair) really was noticeable. It's the sort of thing you know has to be a deliberate decision and as such it rankles a bit.

Anyone think yoda will make a cameo?
I'm almost positive he will, & probably be the actual reason no one knows the Sith are still active.

He has a complete history of either being deceitful or flat out lying for what he feels would be the greater good for the Jedi, in EVERY era he's been featured in.

I won't spoil what he does in the High Republic books, but he refused to tell the Senate about the return of the Sith in the prequels because he felt it with give the enemies of the Jedi an advantage, & he & Kenobi used all kinds of lies/deception to manipulate the naive farm boy to kill their biggest mistake.

Based just on those three examples, I'll call it now that Yoda covers it all up.

In general jedi fighting without lightsabers wouldn't be my idea of good star wars ... but this didn't even make any sense.
Why would a jedi master engage in hand combat in a bar instead of directly force pin her opponent to the wall when challenged and read her mind to know who sent her, etc.?
I wanted to give this a try, but I guess I just can't watch this kind of stuff anymore.

Yeah imo it had a lot of mind numbing decisions, I thought wtf more than wow that was cool.

Yep, I noticed that too. It’s very odd to me that inclusion of minorities require the removal of all white men.

I quite enjoyed it. But it felt a bit like a run-of-the-mill crime drama just set in the Star Wars universe.

The only thing that took me out of it was that the guy from The Good Place was playing his character here the same way.

The green chick (Leslye Headland's wife) is apparently supposed to be a Miralan: the same race as Luminara Unduli and Barriss Offee. I miss a headdress.

As soon as Lucas made the prequels, all previous logic was thrown out the window… so this show is doing nothing different…

By this I mean in phantom menace he introduced speed runs…. Which I haven’t seen again and wonder why a Jedi hasn’t used since - I mean they did it on instinct…

When force pushing is an option, that Ahsoka vs woman with staff fight should have ended in seconds….

R2 having rockets in arms in ROTS and AOTC… that had so many uses in the OT (and yeah there may be a comic where they were taken out, but whatever - still makes little sense)

So every fight since the prequels i’m like “this coulda gone down way different if there was any consistency…”

Lucas/Filoni brought back Maul… so everyone complaining about not surviving knife stabs but Reva surviving a lightsaber blade… it doesn’t matter, and your god set the precedent, heh.

Now a prediction about the series!

They put a lot of attention on “not meditating on the past is doomed to repeat it” (or something like that)…

*I really should make sure that’s what was said before this prediction….

I think they’re gonna tie yodas (maybe) covering up what these Jedi did as a way to fix - or lighten The Last Jedi, Luke decisions (or passing terrible thought)…

I think these Jedi are going to find Mae, see a future in her like Luke saw in Kylo, and opt to end her on the spot… failing and creating a serious threat…

When put in the same situation Luke will be in later, these Jedi judges decided to go with first instincts… and make sure Mae isn’t a problem.

This is the Kylo story again… that ends up being repeated cuz it was buried the first time

*Ramble ramble*

Not sure that makes sense… half baked theory

And I do mean baked.
