Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Star Wars suburbia seems a bit odd to me too, but a galaxy far far away can’t be all Imperial corridors, Yavin temples and Coruscant skyscrapers. So far it looks like fun.

Yeah…this guy may show up as the HOA covenants enforcer, I suppose:

Vader HOA Enforcer: "I see you have chosen mint green for your metal car cover. Both of which are in direct contradiction to my orders. You built it yourself, I see, and that's why it looks like a disintigration or as my friends used to say, 'well placed blast points'. To match your sarlac pit or what you have been calling an in.... ground... poooool. I find your lack of taste disturbing."

When I was a kid I started writing ideas for what might happen after ROTJ and I had a kid find Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber. It led him and his companions all over the place, finding more of Luke's belongings eventually leading them face to face with the Jedi Master himself. They discovered that Luke had foreseen and purposely planned for their meeting all along with the goal in mind to see who would respond and follow their instincts to the end, no matter what. Along the journey they would encounter trials, temptations, discouragement and ultimately, discover what they were made of...thus, the start of the new Jedi...Corny for sure, but as a kid I thought it was awesome.lol

Not bad at all. Especially for a kid.

The best stuff is corny as hell. It just has some edges polished by good writers so modern audiences will roll with it.

'Jaws' is about a giant killer monster attacking a town. 'Raiders' is about a tomb robber finding an ancient treasure with magic powers. 'Star Wars' is about a farm boy getting his father's sword from a wizard and rescuing a princess from an evil knight's castle.

Thanks, looking back though, Luke wouldn't be so self absorbed to believe his personal belongings had any special relevance. Even with his legend spreading like wildfire, I feel he wouldn't be the type to let it go to his head. I would picture him using his hands, helping to rebuild and inspire those around him to rebuild what was destroyed by the Empire and their philosophy.

When I was a kid, I also wrote a short story about Luke, post-ROTJ…

In my version, Luke was a chronically depressed soul, hiding like a coward, and waiting to die on a craggy island, somewhere…
