I'm probably more forgiving with most Star Wars series than a lot of others here... But that trailer was so unremarkable. And, short of the title, and very few words, scenes, and sounds, absolutely nothing in it said this is Star Wars. Take out those very few key scenes, and I'd have had no idea that was even related to Star Wars.

I thought the trailer was a hoax at first. If this is going to be so far outside the box of the Star Wars universe, then the only reason for calling it Star Wars is to bait people into what looks like some very generic sci-fi fantasy.

On the other hand, even though it is a trailer (the hook that's supposed to grab us) that didn't work for me, it could still be good. It just doesn't look like anything I'd be interested in at this point. Especially something that focuses on kids. That in itself typically bores the proverbial snot out of me.

Yes, right down to the Prophets/Vorlons vs. the Pagh-Wraiths/Shadows.

There are many more similarities...even the way Sisko/Sheridan "transitioned" at the end.
It goes beyond just coincidental similarities. In case you didn't know, J. Michael Straczynski had pitched Babylon 5 to Paramount before DS9 was even in development, even gave them his show bible, which they kept, despite rejecting to produce Straczynski's show.

it certainly is different, but I am looking forward to this one much more than I was looking forward to the Acolyte or Ashoka

This has the potential to capture the lighting in a bottle like the Mandalorian did because it is so disconnected from the all to familiar trappings of much of the newer stuff

Anymore i try and avoid everything about new stuff i have an interest in. Trailers anymore, give away too much (and they make too many) or they misrepresent the content. Seems like studios also give away to much with press releases. I dont care who you are adding to the cast! Telling me a year or two out kinda ruins things. I know it is the quest for free publicity, but sony probably had to forbiiden by feige from releasing two pr statements a month apart saying mcguire and grarfield were joing spiderman 3. Part of the experience is supposed to be discovery wnd experiencing in the show. RDJ being revealed in doomsday or ff4 would have had 10x the effect, if not more, than announcing at comic con, though i get the reason they did it. It is now way too much about non creative suits trying the maximize every penny at the expense of what they are making.

Disney are probably slapping any idea or script they have with a Star Wars logo, just to try and sell it some more. Also means a lot less development as they already have so much background and planets, wardrobe and props they can reuse.

I have mixed feelings about this one.

The suburbia & high school parts of the trailer make me queasy. IMO that's probably straying too far out of SW's wheelhouse.

But the rest of the concept seems workable.

Well, this is a show that is clearly meant for children and not the wise elder sages of the RPF. ;)

Though it has that distinct “new car with a dead body inside smell” to it, that Disney is famous for, I am sure that it will be an enjoyable watch for the appropriate age group.

It can’t be any worse than the Saturday morning schlock that I watched—and loved—as a kid, like Jason of Star Command.

Yeah…clearly this is intended to be a show for children.

If any adults tune in, well, I’ll chuckle a bit if I see any histrionic comments regarding how upset they are at “…what they’ve done to my Star Wars…”.

Adults are not the target audience for this show, and that’s OK.

I will say….Star Wars: Suburbia

Second-rate fan films can now stop filming in neighborhood open spaces and can film right on the sidewalk and in the front lawn area and be in-universe accurate.

That’s awesome.

I love the whole concept of kids going on an adventure and finding some ancient relic that pulls them in where they come together to solve the puzzle and helps them grow in the process. It's a winning formula and every kid who I've ever met, longs for adventure and has dreams...atleast I did when I was a kid.
I mean, there is a good reason that stories like those tend to get made again and again...
