Star Wars: Battlefront

7 hours to download!!!!!!!!!!! and that is just the estimate.....You have got to be kidding me. The Battlefront Bundle needs to include a physical copy of the game.

Thankfully, I opened the box and started the downloads since the codes for B.F. and the extra Star Wars games are only good in Canada and the US.

I haven't gotten to sit down and play for a couple weeks. At this point don't even know why I bothered rushing out to get it at first...

got on to play for the first time in a week. Kept throwing me into the losing side of a battle that was seconds away from ending.
Join game, loading, spawn, run, DEFEAT. Join game, loading, spawn, run, DEFEAT. Join game, loading, spawn, run, DEFEAT

And THAT is why I don't buy games on preorder or right after release.

After waiting 7 hours on the download clock, all the game is walking around the Hoth Hanger as Vader while 20.922 GB more downloads. WOW!

This is a key point about doing research to avoid disappointment. I really feel for the people that bought the steel book edition only to discover that they too only had a download code.
Not only is this a poor joke but one PS fans have paid for.

On a bright note, the four classic games are fun to have and make me wish of a transfer of other old titles.

This thing is sounding more and more like Destiny's first year with a starwars skin on it. Hopefully they'll add more stuff before they start losing players.

What kind of connection do you have? I get 3+ mb at least from EA servers. (They can deliver faster than my connection can take.)

After speaking with a few experts on the matter, I learned to my surprise that Destiny has turned out being a rather big success, with a very steady base.

Been playing a lot of BF the last week and I'm having a blast. Since TFA came out, the player base seems to have doubled or even tripled on PC at certain times. It's not perfect, but I'm very happy they went with a more casual setup.

Destiny managed to save itself with the Taken King dlc but it still lost a good bit but brought more in which is normal for MMOs. It's just not my cup of tea, which is a shame as I'd like Battlefront if it had a single player campaign.

Yes, while my connection is currently poor! It will be worse to non-existent in less than two weeks.

I hate the fact that companies don't realize not everyone has Wi-Fi, Cloud or internet 100% of the time.

Oh, they are very aware of such things, but it's a numbers game. If 90% of your audience has the required tech, you cater to them and not the remaining ten unless you can appease them in some other way. (Most of the time you simply can't, or the cost of doing so would result in an enormous amount of money lost.) It isn't ideal, but it is the reality of things. You spend money where you will please the most people. It's also the reason companies often don't really pay much attention to a few people that are very vocal and complaining on forums. Often, a game that people say has "major issues" or bugs, in reality only has a couple things that affect a very small number of unlucky (and very vocal) people in big way, but in a way that is almost impossible to diagnose or fix.

I see it the other way round. Most people are annoyed with what EA has provided with this game and the only way to fix the issues is being vocal so they do something about it. I really enjoy the game but there's so much wrong half the time I can't be bothered picking up the controller. Lately they throw you in a losing battle only to play a couple of minutes and end up with you side defeated. The only reason this game sells is because it's Star Wars and yes even I am a sucker for that. I need my Star Wars fix but I just wish it wasn't EA providing it.I love what Dice has done immersion wise and visually it's the best game I've ever played. I love playing split screen with my son. Dice did an amazing job but my problems mainly lie with EA.

OK, here's another games industry truth: bad games are almost never only the fault of the publisher. Not speaking of Dice/EA but the notion of publishers "ruining" games by forcing features (or making the development release a game too early) is simply not true. Games get released buggy because the developer uses up all the time and/or money and no more is given because the sales would not come close to break even and some cashflow needs to come in. And most often it's the developer making crazy design decisions! I can't even begin to tell about all the crap decisions I've steered dvs clear of as their producer... Something I didn'tlearn or realize until I myselfhad been on both sides. (Look at how many independent developers exploit Steam early access...)

EA isn't doing the match-making, the game is, and you are getting thrown into an in-progress game somewhat you don't have to wait for a new one to start. (You still get lots of points for participating, even if you lose, so I think they did a good tradeoff there.)Spawning can be a bit wonky at time though. But in the last week or two itvfeels like matchmaking has become a lot more balanced.

I think I was better off waiting to get this. I knew what I was getting and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I doubt I'll put a few hundred hours in like CSGO but I think it's a pretty fun game

The game hasn't been the thing holding me back. It's been schedule commitments and complete lack of time. I'm hoping I can get on for a while tonight. For now though just zero time.

I hope one of their expansions includes the first order and some battles with that. Pretty critical while the iron is hot with the movie out right now.
