Star Wars: Battlefront

Well I waited. My deluxe game hasn't yet worked after trying cold reboots and reinstalls for the Jakku battle. Got online last night and played til 3am waiting for this to open up to the public and still nothing. EA servers were down. Great stuff.

I had no problem DL'ing Jakku and playing it last night on my XB1.

It's a lot of fun!

My friend still can't access it for some reason either, and we are on Xbox as well

Yep me too. I just uninstalled everything AGAIN last night, ejected the disc, powered down, unplugged/plugged back in and cold-booted, reinstalled everything... STILL nothing. I can see the Multiplayer map, but no solo battle of Jakku available. I'm starting to lose patience, too.

Are you supposed to complete all other missions first or reach a certain level before it unlocks or something??? I really don't know what i'm doing wrong and am pretty tech savvy.

Jakku is a multiplayer-only map as far as I can tell. They really only included the solo portions so that people could get used to the controls.

Aw man wait a second......

So.... EA mislead us?

From what it CLEARLY sounded like from EA, they said you will be able to play the battle that leads up to the events of Episode VII. I was under the impression this was some sort of story mode element that told a small sideline precursor to Episode VII and not an aftermath multiplayer map.

GAH!!!! So I've had it this whole time and that's all it is.. a map.

Here I thought the map was a battleground used as a setup after the damage was done in beating the mission. I could SWEAR EA said you would see what happened to that downed Star Destroyer. They didn't say you'd just see it burning on the ground. I thought it was a whole mission showing an event of these things happening with the end of it ultimately being downed AT-AT's and the Star Destroyer crashing down.

That's lame.

Yep. Jakku is just a map. Those dlc packs better be damn amazing.....

I actually bought "Chivalry; Medieval Warfare" the other night. That cost me $20 from the Xbox store, and I'm having a great time with it! Graphics aren't the best, and the game isn't perfect, but it's a hoot for sure. If anyone buys that and wants to play with me, again, my Live tag is: Ol Papa Bunngle

This review cracked me up. Lol. ;)

Battlefront is and always has been a multiplayer game. Any "single player" components have only been included as tutorials- even the bare-bones "galactic conquest" thing in the previous installments. I've never gone in expecting Jedi Knight or that kind of game.

EA in a nutshell. That's good, you've taken your first step into a larger world. ;)
Apologies, I know it's fun to poke, but the argument that EA, UBI, Activision and so on are more evil money-grubbing and greedy than any other business on the planet is getting a bit old.

It's also complete BS and quite clearly done by someone with zero insight, as well as an entitlement mentality.

It's been several years since I worked for a large publisher, but I rubbish any notions of them collectively being these evil forces in the world out to stop people from enjoying their games. There are individuals at any company that are rotten eggs but that doesn't make the entire company evil. Every single person I've ever met working in games has been absolutely and genuinely committed to making the best game possible. If people had seen the exhausting collective effort that goes into a game like SWBF (which includes FUN THINGS like visits to emergency rooms with chest pains and spontaneous nose-bleeds at the desk due to the stress of getting things finished asap) then they would be less inclined to whine.

Murdering innocents... terrorism... extremism... THAT'S EVIL. Failing to make a game that pleases everyone and still wanting the company to survive to make more games isn't. Perspective is a great thing to have.

On a side note.. I spent an hour on Jakku last night and had a blast.

I don't think anyone would be calling EA evil, on the order of the other lovely entities you pointed out. Thinking someone would is just.... I dunno.

Anyway, without being facetious, releasing a game like this, where to get the game that they (EA) are intending to be the full experience, will ultimately cost you $130, sucks.

So relax, no one is worried about a game company blowing up their house or murdering their family. If people feel ripped-off (me included), then they have a right to say something. Since this seems to be a huge complaint about the game, then there is probably something valid to complain about.

Exactly. Most people feel this way. And before you say games cost a lot more to develop these days take into account that the gaming industry is way larger than it was 10 years ago and sells millions more games than it used to.

Darn these Multi-Player/Multiple Transactions games. Everything I've heard about Battlefront is pretty much narrowed down to two points.

1. The audio and visuals are fantastic. One of the best looking Star Wars games out there right now.
2. The Multiplayer, while fun, doesn't not having much staying power

And for introducing Jakku in such a lackluster fashion, there's also this garbage.

The game literally destroys you in the game and tells you that you did it yourself.

That is just one of about a dozen or so reasons I dislike EA. And it also falls far down the list in fact.

I have been on both sides of winning continuously or losing match after match in a row. Sometimes its ridiculous how fast a supremacy match can end

So, a fellow SW fan and good friend of mine bought this on Xbox 1 and was completely taken aback when I told him I had no plans of buying this for at least a year...until he played it and was disappointed(not the point of my story). However, in his wanting to share his pain or just get back at me, today he surprised me with an early Christmas present...yep SW Battlefront:lol!

I guess Gamestop was running a great deal and he picked up the Deluxe edition brand new for $30-40, I can't remember which. So of course, knowing what I know I had to pop this in to play it. Not so much to go in with a bad attitude and purposefully hate the game but to actually play it. I wanted to play this, I just wasn't going to pay for it until all DLC had come out and it was all one price.

So I played it...I've got about 2 hrs playtime and I'm level 6. I am having fun, but I keep finding myself comparing it to battlefield and most of my complaints come from that but overall I'm enjoying it. I'm still not used to the idea of meleeing in a SW game lol and I forget to even try, I'll keep shooting even if an enemy fails to successfully kill me and moves around for another attempt haha. I really DO NOT like the flying controls, the thrust/weapons balance thing is....interesting but when I can't accelerate/brake or whip my fighter around it seems kind of pointless.

So far I've only played drop zone(like 95%) and supremacy modes with one round of the fighters(ugh, I need practice)

Love running around with the DL-44 by the way:D

I wouldn't have enjoyed it if I went into this blindly...but lowered expectations has made it fun lol.

ah yes the DL-44 is the weapon of choice of many now unfortenatly. Then again its not as bad as the amount of explosive deaths in the game...
