Star Wars: Battlefront

I hope one of their expansions includes the first order and some battles with that. Pretty critical while the iron is hot with the movie out right now.

They've already announced that's not going to happen.

Downloadable content "for this release of Star Wars Battlefront," is fixated entirely on the original trilogy (Episodes IV through VI), the EA Star Wars Twitter account said.

Ah okay I didn't know that announcement was made... so behind on the times keeping up with news.

Well this game should be fun for a while, but seriously bad move not developing anything for TFA content.

I do hope to get to run around a Death Star docking bay and prison areas, or a Star Destroyer bridge...

They said no death star.:(

Star destroyer was not mentioned yet.

Death Star would be a massive hit. Maybe they are saving it for number 2

OK, here's another games industry truth: bad games are almost never only the fault of the publisher. Not speaking of Dice/EA but the notion of publishers "ruining" games by forcing features (or making the development release a game too early) is simply not true. Games get released buggy because the developer uses up all the time and/or money and no more is given because the sales would not come close to break even and some cashflow needs to come in. And most often it's the developer making crazy design decisions! I can't even begin to tell about all the crap decisions I've steered dvs clear of as their producer... Something I didn'tlearn or realize until I myselfhad been on both sides. (Look at how many independent developers exploit Steam early access...)

EA isn't doing the match-making, the game is, and you are getting thrown into an in-progress game somewhat you don't have to wait for a new one to start. (You still get lots of points for participating, even if you lose, so I think they did a good tradeoff there.)Spawning can be a bit wonky at time though. But in the last week or two itvfeels like matchmaking has become a lot more balanced.

Thank you. I've always suspected as much. People love to put the blame on the publisher, but at least part of the blame should go to the developer for mismanaging resources.

The classic example I use is the development of Star Wars Galaxies. People talk about how brilliant Raph Koster is, but I've always maintained that he is significantly responsible for the terrible state of SWG on release. I mean, yes, if SOE forced him to include Jedi at the 11th hour, then yeah, that's not his fault, but there was plenty else wrong with that game on release. People loved the idea and the potential of SWG, but I maintain to this day that the game on release was pretty much crap, and that Raph bit off way more than he could chew in designing the game, given the resources he had to work with. I always praised City of Heroes (a roughly contemporary game), which started small (being basically all about combat) and gradually added new features (e.g., crafting, alliances, etc.) as it went along. You need a solid core game that does what it does very, very well, and then you can build on that by adding features. Starting off with a gajillion "features" where none of them really works well is just crap design.

I am HATING EA! New PS4 battlefront bundle. Try to go into game, EA is associating my PSN account with my old invalid email address... Going through all kinds of hassle to get this sorted out!!!!

This game has serious game play issues

I want to love the game but they have spent way more effort on the aesthetics than the actual game experience. I don't feel enticed to play more than a couple rounds before I get bored or switch to Halo.

These are my major gripes

- Death. You die way too easily.

- Vehicles. They should have NEVER tied them to the powerups. They're sometimes damn near impossible to find half the time. I finally got the AT-AT one by happenstance, but that's still the one and only time I've actually seen that. Vehicles and such should be an incentive, like how CoD does based on your kill streaks during the game.

Too add for vehicles, during game types other than the squadron game type, almost every single time I've gotten a vehicle, I have to sit through the unnecessarily long intro of the vehicle flying in before getting control of the vehicle. You know what happens as a result of this "let's look at this cool starship model" spawn? A stupid AI ship SMASHES into my vehicle the moment it finally, almost sometimes before I get control of the vehicle. Every damn time! What's the point of it????

Vehicle blasters over heat way too fast! They fly like a damn steakhouse!

-Hand cards- Take too long to recharge/reset IMO. They don't reset if you die either, you're still having to wait for them

Probably more I can complain about but I don't really feel like spending a whole lot of time with it. It's sad. I was really hoping for more than what we got, game-wise. Battlefront 1 and 2 will always play better than this one unfortunately

To be honest I dont know if its my bad connection or what....but I havent been able to play a single round of Walker Assault since I got this game over 2 weeks ago, Keeps saying 'You have lost connection to PSN network'. So im stuck playing my rotation so far of Hero Hunt, Heroes vs Villains, (Which so far seems to have the lowest player count) and Blast. Sometimes Drop Zone.

I got my EA account email deal sorted and was able to enjoy about 8 hours of play. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Difficult game. Endor is very frustrating, hard to see the enemy.

To be honest, I hate the Endor Map the most. It is probably the map I usually quit whatever mode I am on and change to another mode when that map comes into rotation.

That is comedy gold for friends. " Come check out this awesome X wing~I'm dead already!!! Hit me up on my Twitch account to see me die repeatedly "

Could be easily solved if they would change the mini map and make you be able to mark targets like in battlefield. Then again theres alot that they could have taken from battlefield that would have made battlefront better.

Yeah vehicles should never have been tied to power ups. They should be feely available like in the old games. It was the best feature. The number of times I've managed to get hold of one only to be shot down immediately is just silly. Endor map is one of my favorites but I agree it can be frustrating. Maybe all these things will be changed with updates. They've gotta be reading everyone's comments don't they?Im still enjoying it mostly though.

I found myself stepping aside from the action several times just to take in the beauty of the maps. Wow is this game impressive to look at. Not sure of the map name, the one with the lava, imperial base. Little ******* figured out how to exploit the top of the base using a jet pack, sitting up there sniping. No one could see him lol. The Solo blaster is WAY too accurate and powerful!
Speeder bikes.... forget that noise! Flying the falcon is awesome. I was wrecking havoc until I plowed it into a mountain...

Then more than half of the players would wait back at spawn for them, and not many would play towards the objectives

I really hate the Solo blaster after my time with the game so far. I find myself often instakilled when I encounter an enemy with one.

Please forgive the beginner question but any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm completely new to DLC and don't play any games online. I have a code for the Battle of Jakku that I got with my preorder. I was able to redeem it, the notifications say that it was downloaded and installed. However, I don't see it anywhere in my game play. It's not showing up in the battles or the survival modes. Is Jakku only playable online, which I've never done? I'm on a PS4. I'm grateful for any advice as to what I may be missing or doing wrong. Thank you.

Yes its only for online play. When you click on multiplayer, above the choice of game types, there should be an option to turn switch between the Standard game and Jakku rotation.
