Star Wars Andor (Disney+ TV series)

Wow! Why does it have to look so good! My Disney+ subscription is up in November! Argh.... Just need to remember Yoda's words. I need to learn to let go.

Good to see Winspit Quarry in Dorset as what looks like Saw's partisan hideout (@1.07 mins). I was there 2 weeks ago!

See this is what Star Wars movies and series should be. Instead Disney became The Wonderful World of Wokeness, with the sequels and most of the TV stuff. Will it be enough to save the franchise, doubtful. But it is a small ray of sunshine over a bleak wasteland.

PS. At .31 seconds, did you see the two generals drinking their lattes from the new onboard Starbucks. ; )

This looks awesome, but I'm tired of being wrong. So I hope...

Personally, this is the best cast of any SW project. I loved Chernobyl, and I'm a devoted fan of The Crown. So seeing actors from both of those projects in the SW Universe gives me some hope. My last hope, before I give SW a break (for the first time in 45 years :( ) and get away from D+.

Two things are keeping me from getting all too excited…

One, the last two SW D+ shows have been lackluster at best as well as outright deceitful as to who the focus of their show was. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean this show will follow that trend, but it’s a possibility made more likely by frequency of occurrence.

Two (and this is more pertinent), they are having a three episode premiere. This tells me

a: Disney still doesn’t know how to make a television show in the modern era, and therefore the first episode or two will play like the first act of a movie. Acceptable in a movie, unacceptable when you stretch it out over half a month.

b: Disney has no hope that this show will do enough to pull in viewers, possibly meaning the show is no good.

c: Despite Disney’s insistence otherwise, Disney+ is an experiment that still has yet to pay off. When you have hard numbers that can be verified independently (like a box office), it’s easy to say “this movie succeeded” or “this movie failed”. It’s a lot harder to do that with vague viewer counts that have no way of being verified that also don’t necessarily have a tangible connection to profits.

I hope this show is good. But I haven’t necessarily seen any indication that this is a story someone wanted to tell, the Disney+ shows have gotten cheaper and cheaper looking, the music hasn’t been all that great in all but essentially one of the D+ shows and that same composer did a crap job on a different D+ show, and it’s just tiring to come back to the same stuff over and over again and have the same forum discussions over and over again, with no consensus because the content isn’t that good.

Haven’t watched Moon Knight, gave up after episode three of Miss Marvel…

Star Wars is looking to be the same….

I sense a great disturbance in the Mouse.

The 3 episode premiere is because it has been announced that the show will jump time every 3 episodes to show the growth of the character at distinct points in his life. Based on the different hair styles we see in Stellan's character, I'm assuming he plays a big part in Cassian's development as a mentor or inspiration.

This also addresses the complaint that there wasn't much Andor in the trailer- there WAS, but not a lot of Diego Luna.

The "look" is likely due to practical sets and real locations. But my real question is, with Disney SW track record, will this series be about its titled hero And/Or new female characters wedged in to push agendas?

Can I be labeled a toxic fan now? Or are puns going to get me canceled first?

The exodus of longtime SW fans from D+ is growing.
I signed up initially when they offered the three year deal at $4 a month. Those three years are going to be coming up this fall. How many people stick with it versus dropping it will be interesting...

The AK-47 blaster that one guy has bugs me so much, especially because I'm such a props/costumes focused kind of person when it comes to SW. It wouldn't be such a problem if they dolled it up more, but it's just a stockless AK-47 painted black. There's a few greebles stuck on there, but not enough to hide that iconic mag, handgaurd, and barrel.

Looking it over, if they wanted to hide it better, they should have cut down the magazine, modified the barrel, and replaced the handgaurds with ones more modern looking.

And I noticed these are Clone Troopers. We're either going to be getting flashbacks or time jumps:

ANY legitimate criticism makes you a toxic fan under Disney. If you're over 40, you're definitely toxic, so join the crowd.

Those yank me right out of any scene they popped up in. It's just incredibly lazy of the whoever did the props. Anyone on here could have done a better job.

This LOOKS sooo much better than kenobi in scope ,visuals, production and music. Kinda mad Kenobi didn’t come off looking this epic.
I can definitely give this a chance based on that trailer, maybe the story comes through…maybe?

Feels very rogue one- for some that is bad and others it’s fantastic. I line up with the latter. We’ll see.
