Star Wars Andor (Disney+ TV series)

With the quality of Andor, I’m hoping that the Favreau & Filoni team start pulling their socks up, they’ve been letting things slip recently

I'm not so sure that they've necessarily been slipping so much as not being given enough episodes in their shows to tell a proper story. 6 episodes are not really enough to tell a good story, certainly not a long and complex one. Just think of how bad Andor would have been if the powers that be had only given them 6 episodes to tell the story. It would have suffered the same issues that plagued BoBf, too much story, and too few episodes. Hopefully whoever approves/determines the number of episodes a show gets has been paying attention to Andor and will allow future shows to have more than a mere 6 episodes.

While it's true that droids are found in even poor parts of the galaxy, those droids are clearly well worn, well used, and are probably quite old, probably several generations behind the latest in droid tech on wealthier worlds. We also don't see many of them in any one place. outside of the droid army during the Clone Wars. So while they're definitely around, I'd argue that they're not exactly everywhere.

Something else that goes against droids being used for the production of whatever they're making on Narkina is that the Empire hasn't shown to be particularly big on using droids outside of some specific uses like probe droids and interrogation droids. We don't see many, if any droids on Star Destroyers, we only see 1 protocol droid and some mouse droids on the Death Star, and we've seen 0 doids in the ISB HQ.
Also I would think the Empire prefers it's prisoners to be doing something other than sitting in jail with a "free room and hot meals" if you will

It is free prison labor essentially so why not take advantage of it.

Why waste money on droids regardless of whether they are cheap or not?

It is about clearly about control and fear and keeping the riff raff locked away tight.

That they get some work out of them is a bonus.

You dangle some carrots in front of them and make them think if they keep their head down and get the job done they can eventually get released

For all we know they could be making useless trinkets that were never intended to be used and just get recycled right back into raw materials by other prison work groups to make more useless trinkets in a never ending cycle :D

Like Sisyphus rolling that boulder up hill endlessly

I doubt Palpatine would care if droids were cheaper vs making "criminals" suffer

And I am sure in the minds of the powers that be, if people actually got to go home after serving, how many would likely risk being repeat offenders to wind up back in a nightmare like that

Imagine if we saw another level of that facility, and that floor was just breaking those racks down into separate pieces…essentially having a prison assemble and disassemble the same things over and over as punishment.

That almost sounds like a excuse for incompetence. There have been countless shows telling a good story with 6 episodes or less, hell I have watched anime series that have better story telling than live action shows. Not the same in terms of format but how many movies have told a awesome story in 2 hours,Andor average run time is 50 minutes x 12episode=600 minutes. And for argument sake 50 minutes x6 episodes=300 minutes, you can’t make a good story in 300/600 minutes you have a F’N problem and should look for new monkey writers or be fired for incompetence.

"It turns out I can swim"

Its great to finally see Andy have a character he can literally chew up every scene and zero Cgi..
I've always wanted to see a vehicle that really shows his acting chops and this is it..

I want him in the Rebellion.
Andy Serkis is a badass actor and I was very glad I've seen him demonstrate, once again, his amazing acting skills, and making his character one of the most memorable in the Star Wars saga.

I was thinking about Syril Karn earlier and just having no clue where they are going with him. It occurred to me that with him seeming increasingly unhinged, I’m wondering if he does something drastic, like a suicide bomb outside the ISB or assassinating Meera for spurning him, and the Empire attributes blame on the Rebels. Maybe that’s another linchpin event (like the Reichstag fire, in a historical context)? So in death, Karn inadvertently contributes to the Rebel cause as the Empire further clamps down, just as Luthen wanted…lol

I think his plot is gonna be the one people were getting mad before the show about being slightly too related to current events. Basically we're seeing him radicalized from an idealist to a terrorist.
