Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

I stopped caring long before J.J. destroyed it. I don't care now. Nothing anyone is making is Star Trek. Make all the crap you want, I'm not watching. I'm not giving anything a chance. I'm through.

Yep.

I watched the 2009 movie, and I was done. I watched the first part of the two-part prequel to the pilot of STD that aired on CBS, and I was twice as done. Absolutely nothing since has interested me. Quite the opposite, in fact. Aparhy mixed with utter contempt.

My one and only concern is protecting the legacy of the real thing, and not letting these vultures win by rewriting or supplanting it.

That should be the goal.

I don't really care about the legacy. The original exists. They can stamp "Star Trek" on anything they want, I'm just not going to pay attention. I have the DVD and Blurays of everything I care about.

The rest can rot.

That’s all good and fine, but the history books must not be rewritten, and actual STAR TREK must be preserved and defended for future generations.

I keep hearing that Strange New Worlds is good. Also, that the 3rd Season of Picard is good. So I'm going to try a couple of Strange New Worlds episodes. And that 3rd Season of Picard eventually.

I thought a lot of people like the reboot Star Trek and I was one of the few that didn't. Maybe some are starting to see the light on that one. As far as I'm concerned JJ Abrams and crew did a lot of damage to Star Trek, Star Wars, and Mission Impossible. Sure the movies were profitable but I can't enjoy watching any of them.

It is. It's sitting right there on my shelf. It's not going anywhere, no matter what stupid crap they make today.

Don't underestimate their stupidity. There may well come a day when they take it off of streaming and stop producing physical media.

Supposed Star Trek Day promotional material presented by CBS / Paramount with Shatner’s Kirk and Nimoy’s Spock conspicuously absent.

Boy, the franchise management just continues to dump on its legacy and profoundly misunderstands why that legacy is there in the first place.

I found myself wondering why they've been pushing the 50th anniversary of THE ANIMATED SERIES so hard, lately.

Then they started releasing these VERY SHORT TREKS, which apparently make fun of TOS and TAS. And they're selling "Kirk Is A Jerk" shirts.

We're descending into the terminal stages of self-parody and deconstruction, now.

You're kidding.

...Just checked. Sigh, it's a thing.

Because its the 50th anniversary, it would be really weird to celebrate the 50th of TAS some other time. But seriously, TAS is the least known of all the Trek properties, any excuse to raise its profile is a good idea.

Much too early to say, the first one didn't. Just be glad the trailer specifically said they were non-canon, or we'd never hear the end of it from Memory Alpha.

And if a fan made their own Kirk is a Jerk shirt tell me you wouldn't think it was a hilarious deep cut.

They barely promoted it...in a 22-minute video, they gave it maybe 2-3 minutes, and then pimped all the other new shows.

Just using a notable anniversary as an opportunity for nuTrek.

Honestly, this is why I pay absolutely zero attention to ANYTHING that modern Trek does these days. If it wasn't for this thread, I wouldn't know the depths of their stupidity.

Maybe more people should just go find something better to do than hate-watch all this garbage.
