ST: Strange New Worlds Canceled

In my opinion, Season 3 didn’t get off to a good start with episode 1. Ridiculous solutions to the crisis (but it is Star Trek I suppose). There were some new clips in the opening sequence that I liked, like a Klingon D7.

My friend, what could you possibly have done to have felt that you deserved such torture?

Unfortunately they're 0/2 for me this season. "Hegemony, part II" was technobabble-driven plot trash, and "Wedding Bell Blues" was a story in search of a purpose. I have no idea what "The Trickster" was hoping to get out of his stunt, and neither Christine or Spock really learned anything either. And to directly rip off the ending of another TOS episode like that...

I’m with you on that. I just had to mentally push all that aside and watch the episode.

Of all the crap they’ve called Star Trek on their streaming service, this is the closest one to the Trek I like

Speaking of remakes, how many Voyager episodes were direct remakes of TNG episodes?

My friend, the unique way in which SNW is consistently described….

If it were a restaurant, this would be the typical Yelp review:

That's kind of insulting to those of us who actually like the show. I rated the new episodes so poorly because I expect better of SNW -- and usually get it.

Not sure how my critique and observations of statements made regarding the show are personally insulting (unless one is involved in creating the product)? That’s certainly not my intention.

Help me understand.

So many people have complained about Spock in this show, and yes, he’s been the butt of several jokes. He’s ‘too emotional’ to be Spock.

But, I also understand what they’re doing with him. This is a younger version of Spock. He’s trying to balance his Human and Vulcan sides.

The Spock we knew had deliberately subsided his Human side and his emotions.

We’re seeing Spock grow into that man. Watching him be in love with Christine and her rejection of him, makes the TOS Spock I know seem even more powerful. When she later was in love with Spock, he’d already buried that part of his past along with its emotions.

We’re now watching him become that version of Spock.

Other than season 3 of Picard, this is the only New Trek that feels close to the old ones.

I barely made it through the first season and dropped it like a hot rock. Saying this is the closest thing to TOS is like saying fast food is the closest thing to fine dining because at least it's not crap.
