In the article talking about how the Lando D+ series is dead, the creator said:

Simien has a live-action Star Trek comedy series starring Tawny Newsome on the way, announced at San Diego Comic-Con. The logline: “Federation outsiders serving a gleaming resort planet find out their day-to-day exploits are being broadcast to the entire quadrant.”

Star Trek: Truman

Why, just…why?

Another easy pass. Section 8-31.

I wonder if the Vulcan episode will be fixed with having the transporter overriding their Human DNA back into their bodies?

No…a healthy serving of buttered flapjacks served up in Captain Christopher “Pass Me The Bisquick” Pike’s ski lodge / officer’s lounge and they will be “right as rain”…

The Great Bird Of The Galaxy would be rolling over in his grave….if he had one

How they greenlight this and not something like Legacy....i'll never know. I'm not saying they can't do a comedy, but as the post shows, It's literally a take on the Truman Show. Not to mention, in all the shows and movies I can't think of the people of the federation watching a TV show. Closest i can get is the Orville episode that beamed reality TV to a planet in S1.

Yeah…they killed Star Trek: Legacy—a project fans have actually ASKED for—and greenlit Star Trek: Space Kidettes and Star Trek: The Truman Show.

I don’t get it.

I put it in the same was Lucasfilm seems hellbent on doing things with the ST characters. It's the stuff 'they' created and want to double down on their vision regardless of what the viewers say. It wasn't the current braintrust that came up with Picard (i don't think anyhow) and therefore a spinoff from that isn't what 'they' want because it wasn't 'their' idea.

I'm not necessarily against the futuristic SFA series...The truman show copy...they gotta A LOT a work to do there to get people interested. A LOT. And, i'm not sure it's something they can do.

In the 90's, i think there was a time when TNG, DS9, and Voyager were all on air. That's 60ish episodes a year and people made all of those successful. I don't know if they won't want to do so much at once, if they're scared, or it's the arrogance of 'it wasn't my idea'. But, They're doing 3 shows more or less at the same time and in the end that'll total 30 episodes give or take.

If all the new shows being discussed, the one with the most promise seems to be Legacy. I don't see the other two garnering nearly the same interest from actual fans. From a business model, it would seem the one with the most chance of success but, they don't seem interested in considering it and the only reason would be 'it's not their idea'.

Maybe they should concentrate on one show with 26 episodes instead.

Holy Hilarity!! The villain from Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future?? That’s some innovative design work, there.
