Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

They barely promoted it...in a 22-minute video, they gave it maybe 2-3 minutes, and then pimped all the other new shows.

Just using a notable anniversary as an opportunity for nuTrek.

Honestly, this is why I pay absolutely zero attention to ANYTHING that modern Trek does these days. If it wasn't for this thread, I wouldn't know the depths of their stupidity.

Maybe more people should just go find something better to do than hate-watch all this garbage.

Yep.

I only pay attention to the news stories and occasional discussion.

It's dead, Jim.

Hope the rest of the animated Short Treks won't suck like that.
It's a show's 50th anniversary and they decided to mark the occasion by producing and broadcasting THAT mental diarrhea???

Supposed Star Trek Day promotional material presented by CBS / Paramount with Shatner’s Kirk and Nimoy’s Spock conspicuously absent.

Boy, the franchise management just continues to dump on its legacy and profoundly misunderstands why that legacy is there in the first place.

Missing off Kirk and Spock and having crying space Jeysus, and the empress instead is an insult to the fans.

I only watched the trailer for these, and knew they were going to be purile. Are nine-year-olds writing these? Nose picking! Bras!! The principal is a doodie head! Snicker tee hee hee!

Just announced. The book will be released December 13, 2023.

Just in time for the holidays.

Because its the 50th anniversary, it would be really weird to celebrate the 50th of TAS some other time. But seriously, TAS is the least known of all the Trek properties, any excuse to raise its profile is a good idea.
At the same time, the writing team on Lower Decks seems to be fans of TAS since they've had several nods to TAS on the show. They've mentioned events from TAS, a couple of characters, as well as several aliens. I suppose that with Lower Decks also being an animated series, it's rather fitting that they acknowledge their predecessor.

But have you had the switched bodies episode yet? Or the twinning, or the possession, fungus brain fever, fake poison with fake antidote extortion to complete a secret mission..... This cheat book has a few more but General Hospital can only go so far in helping this generation rewrite Star Trek....Wars....or whatever the director was never really into as a kid.

Wow…

Again… Vulcan suppression of emotion is NOT genetic.

These “writers”….
To be LOGICAL, this genetic alteration would make them Romulan. Only training makes you Vulcan. And just to be clear, were they really implying that they would also have Vulcan weapons training genetically implanted, thus the hallway scene?

Again… Vulcan suppression of emotion is NOT genetic.

On the other hand – TNG did establish that Vulcans have both brain regions and neurotransmitters responsible for emotion suppression. That already suggests a possible genetic basis.

And the writers here remembered that Vulcan emotions are naturally more powerful than human emotions. They know their stuff, they're just being flexible with interpretation for the sake of entertainment.

No, I am sorry, I am attempting to have a real conversation about how absurd that trailer is and we devolve back to the one and only questionable trait. So let's focus for a moment on the morphic changes that rearrange their tissue. No. You could change every cell to be a vulcan cell but the organization of existing tissue would not change without considerable amounts of time and then maybe never. It is why plastic surgery is permanent. This is not free for room to move as a literary form of creativity. It just doesn't work. Transporter accident, yep, serum, nope. Next, now we know how to use vulcan weapons? Next, what happened to all the iron in the blood that is now copper.... also transporter yes, serum, no. At this point they would all die. Having now changed their cells to become vulcan and not having the copper necessary to fulfill the needed blood quantities, they would instantly suffocate. It simply doesn't work on any level at all. Could have been transporter, could have been disguises and could have been mind melds transferring the actual training, techniques, emotions and experiences but we got handed Freaky Friday & Face Off, Vulcan style. I get suspension of disbelief, myth, legend, coincidence but taking a fully science and physics based show and just running with "wouldn't it be cool if" and just going with whatever comes to mind? This writing has the very distinct feel of Alex Rodriguez who had his children coming up with his storylines. Think Spy Kids and Shark Boy and Lava Girl. I loved both but they weren't Star Trek, they were extreme dreamlike stories. I just now remembered why I had stopped watching this thread. My apologies, carry on.
