Limited Run Star Lord leather Boot Spats by Danny

Re: Star Lord leather Boot Spats

DannyLopuz THANK YOU so much for making such a quality and beautiful product for a very fair price. Enclosed are pics of the extreme weathered hand painted [metal heat wear effect achieved via airbrush in 3 stages of acrylic color paints: blue, purple and bronze] 3D resin rocket boosters test fitted to the boot spats. Will be using doing some trial and error test with this product: 3M Dual Lock reclosable fasteners to mount the rocket boosters to the boot spat. And then the front spat to the shoes to prevent it from twisting side to side during your convention walks. FYI we will be using the other pair of boot spats to build another set of high resolution 3D Rocket Boosters from joatrash.

Re: Star Lord leather Boot Spats

Danny, these are awesome. If I can get in on a run, I'd love a pair too. Pm me for payment details, and I'll send it away.

Re: Star Lord leather Boot Spats

I'd be interested to see how the dual lock works for you. I used to for the fastener on my belt and it works great for that. For my spats, I used a sheet of kydex V, cut two 3" squares from it, and then heat-gun formed it to match the slot on the base of my rockets. I then riveted the two squares (one formed and one flat) together, trimmed to shape, and then riveted to the spats. The pockets look good on the spats, and the rockets slot-fit and stood up to three full days of Con, no issues.

I used a 1" x 2" piece 3M Dual Lock near the front of the spat and that is it. Front is kept tight and that works perfect but the side spats still flare out more then i like. Still better then before. The 3D Dual Touch failed at the spat points. It works OK overall but for my long term plan I'm going to pop out the old rivets from the spat and rivet them permanently to the shoe. How did you mount your boot rockets? Would love to see pics of your set-up. Currently having some space problems mounting the boot rockets. Due to the rocket booster base plate measuring in around 3" x 3 3/8" i may have to cover part of the back strap hardware just slightly and high enough to not get them knocked off during the conventions as you can see in picture number 3. This is our current hiccup.

Re: Star Lord leather Boot Spats

So this kind of shows my mounting solution. Kydex 'pocket, riveted together and to the spat. I had to pla e the pocket near the back between the straps to get it positioned right. No problems at all with movement or walking.

The 3M Dual Lock tape was successful in securing the front boot spat down to the shoes and the boot rockets. I plan to add some weathering to the boots spats and call it done! Looks too bloody new IMHO!!! Been wearing them around the house to break in the leather and add some much need creases, wear and tear!!Thanks hazardjsimpson for the explanation and pics.

Re: Star Lord leather Boot Spats

No prob. I started with the dual lock on the spat/shoe connection myself, but it came free of the leather FAST once I actually wore them a bit. Now I use a strap / magnet system to hold the spats down. Much better.

If the dual lock comes free i may look into some some type of a screw rivet and rivet them permanently to the shoe itself just to be safe. THX.

Re: Star Lord leather Boot Spats

Hey Danny,

Any update on the latest run? Just wondering if mine got sent out or not since this was your reply 2 weeks ago:

"This last run was limited, only 6 pairs were made and I updated the ones I did send. However I bought the leather and left it with my leather maker, so I will be able to send all pending shipments this friday tops."

If it was sent, is there anyway to get a tracking number? Thanks!

Re: Star Lord leather Boot Spats

Anyone else finding the straps are too short on the spats?
I tried them on finally today (I was waiting for my pants to get here) and there is quite a gap between the strap and buckle, it's not a huge deal and it's an easy fix I was just wondering that's all.
BTW I still love my spats!

Re: Star Lord leather Boot Spats

Anyone here from Canada that ordered a set of these spats? If so, how long did it take for them to arrive?

Re: Star Lord leather Boot Spats

Same for me.

I'll send you guys the tracking number tomorrow, I'm not at the office but I'll track them down for you as well so you have a more complete information.

they usually don't take longer than 15 business days, if you send me your tracking number I can double check that is correct and give you the updated data. For what is worth the helmet hasn't arrived yet, so customs might be slow.

It's been a bit longer than 15 business days but I'm not too concerned. You're right, they're probably just being held up at customs. Hopefully my helmet arrives soon!
