Star Lord helmet AND accessories!!! by Helagak!

Not wood filler, as you're not filling wood! Get some PC-11, it's a 2 part epoxy that is fully sandable. For any bigger gaps try mighty putty or any other clay-like epoxy kit (look in the plumbing section of your hardware store).

Damn. I need a 3D printer. :(

Another 3D printed version in progress.
I'm planning on using wood filler on this too, it's a one part wood filler which I've used in projects in the past. It's the Ronseal one in the purple tub.

I've also got some epoxy putty called Milliput which I plan on using to bridge gaps.

I've used it to great effect. If the gap is too wide say 1/2 inch-plus, I usually glue a support behind it, this way there's something for it to stick to.

Hey!

I have started making a Star Lord mask with the 3D print files. Here is what I have so far.

I then coated the mask in Rage Gold body filler to smooth it all out.

Excited to have it all come together!

hey guys, so again i have to ask for someone to convert the files for me cause i'm a mac user. is anyone willing to do that, pretty please? thanks in advance! :)

someone already converted them to PDF. Just go back and look for it in this thread.

Anyone looking to scale the helmet files
Scale all pieces by 0.8823529412. This should make for a perfect fit on a person with a 22.5" head. That allows for 1/2" of padding on either side. That size should fit most people.

Helagak, THANKS for sharing this model! I really appreciate your hard work & your generosity by sharing it with us all!

Sadly, I think I'm closer to fitting the unscaled model than the .88xxx scaled model! I just wanted to see if you could double check my math/guestimate before I try a print. Figuring on the .882... scaling, I'm guessing the original fit a 25.5" head? (good old cross multiplication!) So, to fit my 24.25" noggin, I'd need to scale it to .9706?

Thanks again!

Brian

after seeing everyones 3d printing helmets, I have to ask what the best kind of 3d printer would be for a cosplayer that wants to do this type of stuff frequently to get. I made my original star lord helmet modified from a iron patriot mask, and moled the rest with plastic weld and evo foam, and was about to start printing all the pieces out to try an all foam mask, but now everyone has me thinking 3d print might be the way to go.

for the foam unfolds, is this just using 1 size foam? it doesn't really specify so I was assuming it's the 1/4 thick for everything?

Hi, is it possible for you to share your pep files through Sky Drive? I don't like downloading through 4shared.. I have gotten a few viruses from that site and I don't wish to go through that again. Any help is appreciated!

Hello and thank you for the files!!! I downloaded the print files of the mask, then when I open them they are too large more than 9 ft!!! Could you please mention the real measurements!

Sounds like an issue with your software... What scale are you inputing? The files should be scaled to the correct size.

Hi Kevin I'm following this threat and I saw your progress, I downloaded the files then opened and every piece it's too large, I can scale without a problem, I only need t know the final measurement I mean already assembled.

Make sure you have your software set to metric, not inches when you open the files. Or, you can scale the size of your huge objects by 0.393701 (conversion from inches to centimeters) or 0.003937 (conversion from inches to mm)

The original files with its scale fit about a 25" head. Adjust the scale to your size accordingly.

Is this only for the 3D print? Or is it for all of them?
