Star Lord helmet AND accessories!!! by Helagak!

PM me your email address, Braytak. I'm in the same Mac boat with you.Another RPF member converted the foam files to PDF for me.

Thanks so much for sharing these files Helagak. I can't wait to try doing a print when I have time.

Kevin your print turned out awesome with the wood filler!!! That stuff does wonders for 3d prints.

Thanks Gents. I just bought a Da Vinci XYZ from Amazon yesterday. Went in on it with a buddy. It has some proprietary software and such so not sure how I will size the files down to the 88% or whatever. I can't believe I bought a printer just to print this mask. Thanks so much for the reference files! If anyone has any experience with this printer let me know if you have any tips. I think I am going to jailbreak it based on what I have been reading.

I'm using a Solidoodle 3

Working from a Makergear M2, myself. It's doing a pretty decent job!

I'm actually finding the parts a bit hard to fit together. I'm 100% sure the printer's producing them accurately, but there seem to be pretty decent gaps between certain sections of it.

I also only scaled it to 90% instead of 88% because I have a big head. :V

Re: Star Lord helmet by Helagak!

So, it was requested that I model the armor for star Lords arm armor. As seen here:http://www.imgur.com/C0LdRsW.jpeg
So, I did!

The foam pep file is available below. It was modeled in the same space and unfolded at the same scale as the helmet. So it SHOOOOUUUULD Be about the right size... Have fun! =P

Post in the WTB section.

Helagak, thank you so much for posting these! I was thinking of trying to pep the helmet for a gb!Starlord for SDCC next year and this will make it so much easier than just modifying something else.

(Though, watching others do a 3D print one, I'm tempted to see if the library will let me do such a big project on theirs--you all make it really tempting to try!)

Hi I am completely new to the cosplay world/3d printing. After reading the comics, then watching the movie I have really wanted to make the starlord mask.

Anyways, I was wondering if I had a friend who could 3d print all the pecies for me, could I just stick them together and paint it? Would I need to custom scale it? How would I go about doing that? I'm using autodesk 123D Make, is that program okay? Should I use another program instead?

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could answer these questions for me!

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Much like obeseweiner, I'm new to the cosplay world, but I've always tried my hardest to make awesome costumes for theater classes and halloween. I thought I'd like to try my hand at making a Star Lord costume.

I don't own a 3D printer, but there are some people in Austin that charge around .35/cm3, does anyone have any idea how many total cm3 this build is?

Since 3D printing might be out of the question I will then try the foam route. Any suggestions on assembly, or tips that differ from the original design?

I'm new to the cosplay world, like sircotton and obeseweiner but I want to make a Star Lord costume for Halloween. I don't have access to a 3d printer and was wondering if somebody could make a pepakura file for Star Lord's gun.

Thank you in advance,

AkitoDecimo

It was a pleasure working with your model :)
I also added some more detail lines on the side, the tubes, and the details on the back side of the helmet with some reference shots that haven't been out there before :)

This thing is near flawless. One thing I did notice between the real helmet pics from SDCC and this model is that the dimple/bridge thing on the forehead is a bit wider on the original.

I know the one uses a solidoodle 3, I am going to try it with a da vinci xyz in the coming days. I don't really think it matters as long as it can do .stl files and has a large enough printer area.

What did you use for the lenses? Just some Lexan with red vinyl? They look pretty good.
Nothing so fancy! From another project long ago, I had 2 circles of cut 1/8th in. acrylic sheet. Then I colored them red with a sharpie.
