Star Lord helmet AND accessories!!! by Helagak!

Hey guys total noob here.

I opened the pdo files with the viewer and all it looked like this with all the pieces off paper and scattered.

Can anyone help me with this?

he took those out for pep cause it would be ssouuuper difficult to fold with the cardstock........those little details would be easier to scratch build or 3d print.......

I've been trying to figure that part out... The only shot I have seen so far that lends any helpful info is this one:

You can barely see the little clips that the guns hook on to. And then, BOOM, I found this:

Money!

Here's a another shot i pulled from the trailer. I can't even begin to understand what's going on with those holsters and belt! Are the holsters part of the pants themselves?

My plan was to make a belt, then have some straps hanging off the belt with a metal hook to hang the front of the handle on. This design looks much more complicated.

holster.png
it almost looks like a two part holster, a leather base (circled in red) that is sewn to the pants and the belt that has the clips coming down to attach to the leather base (circled in green).

You might be right Justin. The other problem is that that's a rendering...which could have changed from the actual costume.

A friend of mine is going to sew the pants for me, and what I may do is craft that 'holster shape thing' out of leather and just velcro it to the legs. Not really sure, sewing leather to the pants might prove to be difficult. The whole belt/holster/pant thing looks very complex..or it's very simple and we just don't have clear shots of it!

Thanks, jhym! i'll take a good look at that post.

First, I give great thumbs up to Helagak for his work.

I have just one issue. The side pipes are not all the same. The all look the same on his Pep. Not trying to trash anyone and I am supah-dupah grateful for his work, but just wanted to mention this discrepancy.helside.jpghelsides.jpg

On the subject of pants and holsters, I've been looking at those images a lot over the last couple of says as I've been working on my pants. I'm 99.9% sure that's not how it's actually set up. The two darker vertical strips are actually part of the pants and made of the same material as the rest of them. The sort of triangular leather "holster pads", as I've been calling them, look like they actually are connected to the belt. On one side it even looks like there's a loop from it hooked onto the metal loop on the pants, though the other just runs under it. They do hold pretty tight to the leg though, so maybe they really are sewn onto them and just look connected to the belt. Either way though, the breakdown of the pieces is definitely different than what you have circled.

Red is the leather pad, green is part of the pants

Next is the blurry screenshot from when he draws the guns. This is where you can sort of see how tightly connected to the pants they are. In the second version, I've circled where it appears to go under (right) and through (left) the metal loops on the belt. This shot makes me think the pads may be attached to the pants and just run under the belt, but I'm still not sure.

I agree with you. The vertical hip pockets look to be part of the pants, not made of leather. the holster pads on the other hand, i'm not sure if they're attached to the belt, the pants or maybe even both.

This was my plan. Some sort of strap that had a hook attached that the front hand guard could rest in.

Excuse my 2 minute drawing from illustrator. But after seeing these pics, rather than just a strip, a full holster pad with an hook integrated in might be more accurate. but still, should it attach to the belt, or the pants or both??

From the behind the scene photo the way that the gun moves with the leg I assume the belt, holster, and leg padding are all attached together with some sort of clip

IronManic, I assumed the rendering is different from the actual one used but the only few clear shots I've seen of the holster are the same style as the rendering where it is tight up against the leg with no gapping while walking

GUUUUUUYS! i finished! This is my Star-Lord Helmet thanks to all of you guys who helped in the made of the pep file. I used a foam bed for yoga or something like that, tubes from a breather that my grandma gave me (its ok she only use it to sleep), plasti-dip, gray metallic and gray pearl paint, some wires to fit the tubes, also light foam the one you can bought at your local stationer's shop, also the gold paint is from one of those cans of acrylic paint, the lenses are made of cellophane, amm i think thats all. If you wanna keep an eye on the process please feel free to visit my Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/spinoprimeofficialpage

Here i was starting to build

Based on a quick scene in the IMAX preview, I'm leaning towards the leather pad being sewn on to the pants, so that's probably what I'll do

Captura de pantalla 2014-07-08 a la(s) 00.42.37.png
i cant print yet cause is so slim :( and is giving me troubles to print

@SpinoPrime Nice Foam Build!!

@jhondesousa sorry about that. It seems to be a tricky part to print. I was going to go back to the model and increase the thickness for you, but I left the jump drive with all my base models on the other side of the state this weekend!! x_x

One Idea i have it drop the piece into your slicing program (or netfabb would work well!) and orient it so it is standing straigt up (doesnt matter if its sitting nicely on the bed at this point!) then have it pointing directly in either the X or Y direction and the go and scale up the oppisite direction. this will in effect increase the thickness without effecting the other dimensions. Hope this can help.

Hey guys! I'm completely blown away by all the great work going on!:thumbsup What with summer classes, my grandad visiting, and a trip to visit family on the other side of the country, I have no idea how I'm going to get any pep work done. Factor in the fact that I've lost my (3rd) flash drive this year that contained a fraction of my pep files from the first 2 drives, I guess I'll be playing catch up :facepalm I'll just leave this interesting comparison I found earlier today.(Click to expand and get all the small details) RxhqvUF.jpg
