Spider-Man Puff Paint Tips.. (Pics)

They get considerably thicker...the best thing to do is a few tests on some scrap fabric so you know the level you want roughly.

I would also invest in some metal applicator tips for straighter more precise lines...

The paint is called Tulip brand puffy paint...though I've mixed my puffy paint with TULIP brand soft matte paint...as I couldn't find any matte puffy paint anywhere... Screenshot_2014-10-20-18-46-16-1.png

So I'm having issues with air bubbles in the standard Tulip Puff Paint bottle. Whenever an air bubble comes through, it splatters the paint which is just awful! Have you run into this problem and how can I avoid it??

You can see in the picture the two spots that splattered and mind you, I was going incredibly slow and being extra cautious.

ALWAYS force the paint to the front of the bottle by tapping it down or shaking the bottle downwards. Keep one eye on the tube for air bubbles and don't press until you're empty. Shake it down every few inches.

Yup I definitely agree with FirstPick always force the paint to the tip....other than those 2 spots your lines look really good though man!

First post ever, so please excuse my ignorance. I couldn't find a more relevant thread.

I'm actually trying to make a black Symbiote Spidey costume just because it seems easiest to do for a first ever costume.

I'm starting out for a stock standard 'black shiny metallic zentai' suit. Is the 'go-to' tulip puff paint adequate to paint the symbiote spider symbol on the front? Note that I'm not putting webbing on the costume; I'm going for the latex look. Hence, I think that optimally I should be looking at a different type of paint. I have concerns that the paint will either not go on correctly, or that puff paint isn't the way to go, or that it'll look ridiculous against the shiny metallic. It's a big issue just because the symbol is, of course, huge relative to the costume.

Has anyone worked with shiny metallic material? I couldn't go done the printing route just because I'm super new so wanted to start out under simple knowledge and a good foundation.

Hey good question man....Hmmm....personally I stay away from puff painting spidey symbols...just because the puff paint look for a symbol is too lumpy and uneven...I found these school folders made of neoprene and did my symbols in those and then painted a nice "rubber" texture over top...

Your symbol is white right?

That may be tricky...I'm gonna look into a few options that might help...but personally i wouldn't puff paint such an important part

I'm in the process of planning a symbiote also.

I'm not a big fan of the metallic zentai suits if this is the one you mean.....as they do look a bit "gimpy"

I have got some slightly shiny/wet look material that I'm going to puff paint on and see how it looks, howver I am going to be painting the webbing and bricks

I agree...I'm not huge on the "metallic" myself...I mean with modding anything can look pretty great....but overall I'm not the hugest fan...

What sort of shiny/wet look material?
I'm curious

Here's an actual pic

I toying with the idea of screen printing a ASM2 design in dark grey/black onto it and then puff painting over the top for a ASM2/Symbiote hybrid design :)

I should stress the "toying with" part of that sentence

spidey suit back.jpgspidey suit front.jpgSpidey Mask.jpgQUESTION??? I have acquired a very nice Rami Style suit that has the Puff Paint in a metallic silver color for the webbing. Here is the issue, it's broken over several areas and I want to repair it. The seller was a bit to large for it, pictures of him in the suit, and has seemed to stress a lot of the web lines causing them to crack and break. Since I've never worked with the puff paint before is it possible to remove it all, or should I just remove the broken and peeling sections and try to fill in the gaps. The suit is not a sub dye print, it's on red and blue fabric. I love the look of the suit, and I am hoping I can do the repairs. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. He also drilled small holes in the lenses, why I have no clue I am assuming it was because of fogging issues. I've already ordered a new set.

Really unfortunate that you got the suit that way....still looks awesome though!

My advice personally...I wouldn't try to remove it and start over...you may end up making it worse....that stuff bonds super well....

I would definitely try to fill in the gaps...maybe carefully use an exact knife to make uniform cuts on either sides of the broken areas....that way when do your retouches it will look flush...

Just my opinion.

As far as the lenses...the drilled hole thing is crazy....all the previous owner would have needed is some anti fog solution.

Cheap and effective!

I got lenses from tjack....in my opinion his work with face shells and lenses is excellent.

Hope this all helps!

THANK YOU! I wasn't sure if I could fill in the areas or not. The pieces that have broken lose I have removed. I do have a TJack face shield with McFarland lenses, not sure how they would look on this suit, I'll probably just get the rami style that he had on this suit. I am thinking of putting in an invisible zipper though, the one across the back just bugs me. I do love the print though, fits me perfect. I have to add soles as well, all and all for $110 buck I'm not complaining. I think I can finish it off for another $80 or so.
