SPIDER GWEN Build (Pic Heavy)

I have had multiple issues with them in the past - from late shipments to files printed incorrectly to them actually forgetting to print parts of the file I sent them.
Just so I know, how did you go about rectifying the missprints? I'm kinda stuck budd

Ugh, so Fabric on Demand is crazy late printing my suit. It should have shipped by today (I paid for it 10 days ago), but now they say it might not ship until the 22nd, which is 10 days from today. I am kind of upset since I paid $40 on top of $150 to have it printed and shipped expedited. Has anyone had this problem with them before? I've tried to be really nice, but if it takes another 10 days, I'll basically have only a week to paint and sew the thing...

yikes.

I had FOD misprint my suit the same way twice (aka my third suit was correct). If you are not satisfied with the print, SpideyQueue send a picture and your complaint to Emily and she will almost surely make adjustments for you as she did with mine; my issue was my brick pattern faded in and out.

Hendo, I also ordered expedited shipping and received my first order late. When it comes in, contact FOD, explain how expedited shipping was anything but, and you should get your money back.

In my case they let me keep the two defunct prints which worked out well as I sold them for $70 a pop and made my money back. Unfortunately it took, essentially, two months for me to get a usable suit and I missed my Halloween deadline.

Sorry to hear about all of your bad experiences with this company. You'd think that they would have improved their weaknesses by now, because as a company, that's going to cost you clients.
Hendo,I hope you will receive your order soon so you can continue your building process :thumbsup

I wanna say they're bad but the service is really good on the customer end. I'm being treated really well! Might be a transition period that's internal there that we don't know about. Every company goes through it. But for real with the delays *sigh* it does get hella frustrating. I'm hoping they step it up a but.
On the plus side I might of found a local printer! As in 5 minute drive away! !!!!

I am for some reason comforted in knowing I'm not the only one.

The one thing I've learned when dealing with FoD is always always always ask for a test print. It's worth the few dollars just to make sure you're getting what you asked for. And to be fair, I've been dealing with Erin there and she's wonderful and really really helpful :).

Yeah I had gotten two swatches and those came in like 5 days with really nice customer service! I even talked to someone when I ordered by print to talk about the color swatches and expedited handling. Erin is mostly who I've been talking to. She is crazy nice, but I feel awful for that not really being enough for me. I want my print dammit Q_Q

I'm glad they at least seem to have a decent refund and reprint policy, but I sure hope it doesn't come to that. Here is hoping it comes in time for WonderCon... I suppose I can just focus on making the lenses for now, but I may have to rethink painting the whole thing : [

Thanks everyone for the feedback, actually really helpful!

Update: Making frames out of sculpey ($7.50)

1. I rolled this stuff out using two really thin workout DVD cases as an easy means of maintaining thickness uniformity. Then I made a sketchy mold of my mask out of foil to cook the sculpey on top of, since i'm not sure if the glue on my mask would have melted in the oven.

1. Frames.jpg 2. Frames.jpg

2. It bent pretty well, but would have been better if I was cooking it on the faceshell itself. I kept it thick so that I could set the magnets, but I think I can afford to shave some of it off; probably make the frames flatter instead of so rounded and puffy. I am worried that the magnets will just rip out and that glue won't overcome that magnetic force. Also worried about the frames shattering if I drop them. Anyone know of a good reinforcer?

The money I (hopefully) get back from my failed expedited shipping will probably go toward TJack lenses, but I thought it was worth trying myself the cheap way!

I know for foam you can use either PlastiDip to reinforce your item against tearing, cracking, moisture etc. while still letting it keep its supple qualities,or you use PlasticCoating to create a small layer of plastic over your item to make it hard and protect it that way; for this you would have to use Smooth-on (among others):

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MDwQg6CX25A

Whatever method you choose to use,in both cases you prepare your piece with three layers of woodglue.

*Be advised: I do not know whether this method for foam applies here for your lenses, but these examples do illustrate how to reinforce objects and I believe the product to be versatile enough to apply to multiple materials.

I hope that helps in any way.Good luck for now,Hendo :thumbsup

Update: Print arrived!

On the plus side, they got my print to me really fast after I voiced my concerns. On the downside, the black part is way too dark and the muscle base has been completely lost :[ I'm not sure if because it's black and white it's just not possible for them to get it to show up, but I think I am going to call tomorrow morning and see if I can get a reprint.

Not sure if anyone has had issues with this either. Blah.

Happened to me (lost my muscle base and a lot of my brick pattern). Send an email with a picture of that and a screen shot of the file you sent (showing the muscle etc) and they will print another.

They are willing to give me a 20% discount on a reprint. They said that the file itself doesn't have a high enough contrast to make the printing easy so I may edit it to up the contrast. They are really nice about it at least! I will hopefully find someone who wants to buy my other print.

This is what they sent me saying that the colors aren't different enough, basically.

Sorry to hear about the file :/ hopefully something works out, definitely see if someone wants it.

Yeah I had the exact same issue for my symbiote suit. Did you get it from FOD?
Speak to them, they are very friendly and issued me a free re-print

Yeah I got it from FoD. They are impossibly friendly, it's hard to even be mad! They didn't offer a free one, probably because they decided the values didn't have a high enough contrast for good printing in the first place (although I had gotten a swatch and the hexagon made it on there, I dunno). But they were nice enough to tell me what needed to be fixed on the file and advised that since I only live 6 hours away from them that their regular shipping would basically be the same as expedited. Should get it Tuesday!

Clooooooose enough, haha

Hey thanks! The frames are the bane of my existence so far; these neodymium magnets will be the death of me, lol.

Aaaaaaand roommate stepped on my frames. Back to square one with these...
I'm hoping I'm just getting all my bad luck out of the way right now and it'll be smooth sailing from here.
