So Cal Prop Party!! PICS START ON PAGE 33!!!!

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 **TODAY!!!**

Nope, the valet just got a LOT of extra business because people wanted to park their Mercedes next to the Batmobile.

Great party. Next year we need a bigger room, it was fantastic to see all of the creativity we managed to stuff in there.

Most of the movie car guys as well as my mother who stopped by briefly at the end made lots of comments about how much creativity and artistry was packed into that little room. From the original Silent Running robot arm, to the fellow in the back corner (sorry, I'm terrible with names) who managed to fit a stunning electronic light show into every piece he had, to the rocketeer jet pack, to the R2 unit with a compressed air blaster which got into a fight with Herbie... the list goes on and on. Fantastic pieces out there.

Last year I was blown away by the generosity of one of the members who gave me a vintage SOL flash gun to build a "real" Darth Vader lightsaber for my cousin who has downs syndrome. This year I made an attempt to pay the favor forward with a couple of books, bringing the car group, and I made our resident Dr. Who fan quite happy with a Tom Baker scarf which was just taking up space in the closet. Next year I'll see what I can do to top that and come a little closer to the flash gun level of generosity.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 **TODAY!!!**

Such a great day! I really can't thank you all enough for bringing your props and costumes. These are people that I had time to talk to you and get to know, so I apologize to all those that attended that I didn't get to know by name. Thank you!

Art & Kristen - Great to finally meet you both. Thank you SO much for all your help and time. It was really nice to finally put a face with the names/voices. Art went out of his way to make this event be better than it was last year, kinda like what he is doing to the RPF on a whole. THANK YOU!

Matt & Amanda - Such a great couple. I couldn't believe how tall Amanda (Laamberry) is. I always pictured her like a 5 foot tall pixie. Matt thank you for your humor, Multipass kit donations and your superior good looks! I bow to the almighty Munson. Here's to getting to know you both even better in the future! :cheers

Rob - Thanks for being a good friend and hanging with us. I hope to make the rip back down to your house sooner than later to finish up the Death Star. You are always a gracious host and please thank Diane for me also! I can't believe how tall Evan is getting! Man that kid is going to tower over you!

Michael - Seriously? 17 jokes about my 1 nut? :lol Only you could be so bold! I truly appreciate your help with deciding on the room at D&B. I look forward to having you hang out more with us in the future. Thank you again for doing what you did (you know what I mean) ;)

Nate - I wish you could have stayed later but I am glad you won the BTTF papers. I really hope that next year we will be able to have Boba Fett make an appearance!? :love I hope Michelle feels better and we would love to have another hot chick there next year! :thumbsup

Ross - Great to get to know you better. Thank you for the multiple beers! I look forward to hanging out with you and V71 someday soon at his shop. Your Proton Pack is seriously amazing! I aspire to have that! Thanks man.

Tim Allen - Is that really your name? :lol Great to get to know you. Thank you also for the beers. I think you trying to get me drunk and take my props but I'm not sure...:angel

Brian - A HUGE thank you to you sir! Your movie cars made the event! It was just too cool to see all the cars and their owners were just cool guys. I hope that they enjoyed it also. I know Paul did. You are just a really great guy and I hope that you can stay later next year! How was the furniture delivery?

Dennis - Thank you also for all your help. I really appreciate your attention to detail. It made the day run very smoothly. It's great to have a second-in-command. Now to start the location scouting for next year.

BrianM - Great to see you again. How about a 16mm screening soon? Thanks for coming and maybe we can get 3PO to attend next year? :love

Mike Davis - You are a party within yourself. Good to see you again.

Drew & Step- Nice meeting you and great helmets! I love your Fallout prop! Too cool.

Chris - Thank you for bringing your R2. My kids woke up this morning asking to see R2 again. It really was a HUGE crowd pleaser. You sir are awesome!

Again this could not have happened without all your support. It's because of Philip Wise that I had to set the prop party bar SO high. I take inspiration from him and his amazing party. So a thank you to Philip as well.

Fellow RPEffers!!!!

This post can officially be filed under "I don't want to mention anyone by name for fear of leaving someone out".

Here is my four word review of this gathering: Best. Prop. Party. Ever.

And I mean that in a number of ways. It was easily the best attended gathering I have ever been to. Just LOADS of people there. There were also TONS and TONS of props! So many props! I have never seen so many pieces gathered together into one place. I was also really impressed with the diversity of materials there. Just so many different film and tv properties represented there. It was insane. It was amazing to see so much talent on display too. Seeing pictures of something online is onething, but seeing it up close and in person just takes it to the next level.

The cars were also great! Last time there were a couple, but nothing like the showcase that was there this year. It definitely attracted TONS of attention, which is really great. I think at the next one, we should be flying a banner or a plaque or something out there pointing people to the RPF if they want to learn more. So much great foot traffic.

Of course, R2 is always a crowd pleaser, even if he belongs to the evil empire. I saw kids laugh and scream in terror. So fun.

But naturally, the best part about the entire thing was seeing all the great folks who I share this hobby with. Amazing to see so many familiar friends and faces, while at the same time meeting people who I've never had the good fortune to run into. As usual, EVERYONE there was just great, super nice, and very generous with their time and attention. While life online is often peppered with personality conflicts, disagreements, and drama, the prop parties always stand as an island of sanity.

Lastly, big thanks to all the industry professionals who took time out of their busy schedules to come down and hang out with us hobbyists. I always find it very flattering and beneficial to have some of the "big guns" come out to hang out with us "little fish", not only to share their wisdom and experience, but also to show off some great toys! Very impressive stuff. You know who you are!!!!!

Anyway, thanks so much to everyone who attended, organized, and contributed to making this the best prop party I've ever attended. I'm already looking forward to the next one.

I filmed a ton of video while there, and will be producing an episode or two of "On The Laam" that will recap the experience. Stay tuned!

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 **TODAY!!!**

You are saying you are not entertaining, Matt. I find that hard to believe.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! 3-6-2011 **TODAY!!!**

Matt I got a bunch of HD video from the party (and post video :)) if you want any of it.

Let me know

There was a little LED display left on your table after you left. Not sure what it's for, maybe a Predator thing?

Anyway, send me an address and I'll shoot it to you.

And a great turnout today, great seeing all the regulars again and meeting newcomers.

Thanks to Brad and his helpers.

If anyone is missing a small 3 cell hearing aid battery style holder, Mike has it. I kept finding parts and stuff on the floor while walking around:lol

Wow....and I thought it was going to be a small turn out???

Im truly sorry that I missed meeting some of you. Do I get a prize for the biggest FlavA-Flave size RPF badge?

Robstyle where were you? I wanted to meet the Quagmire!

The RPF t-shirts people were wearing!!! Where can those be obtained? Or is it only for exclusive only RPF elite?

jeez, where do I start. I had a blast. Next year for sure, I will make sure to pack everything sooner into my vehicle and try to get more than 1 hour of sleep. By the end of the party, I was stumbling on my own words, zoned out a few times, and stuttered a few times. I guess all that excitement kept me going until I collapsed at home.

Sooooo many people showed up, I didnt get the opportunity to speak with some of you guys. I didnt make it across to the other side of the room until a hour or two left of the prop party. There was just soo much to see. By far the best prop party. Captain Eo sorry bud for not talking to you more. After you introduce yourself to me I got distracted by some-one else and lost my train of thought. I went over to see your props. Really cool swords. Same thing goes to Risu. Enjoyed chatting with you last year, but just didnt get the opportunity this year until the end.

Rocketeer25, it was a pleasure finally meeting you. It is always great to meet a fellow rockeeter fan in person. Too bad you kept on refusing to sell me your jacket haha. I appreciate you bringing it out so Jeff and I can look at it. Thank you for the good chat and I hope you can make it out here again to chat with Jeff and I.

Art and Mirax, you guys are everything I expected. Very kind and welcoming. I enjoyed chatting with you guys and I can see the dedication you both have towards the rpf. Thank you guys for everything. I hope to see you both at the next prop party. Too bad, I couldnt talk you into banning Brad

Brad and Rob. You guys are the best. I always enjoy hanging out with you guys. Thank you for this opportunity of meeting up again. I lost count of how many ball jokes I made with brad. I have a few more, but with save them for a(nutter) day ;)
Hopefully, it doesnt take months for us to hangout again. Maybe dinner at Hooters ;)

Matt and amanda, a very cute couple. I must admit, I am very impressed with Amanda. She knows her stuff (except MASH ;)). It was a pleasure to joke around with you both. I especially enjoyed sitting on your lap Matt and us reenacting the scene in Titanic :)
And I am sure amanda knows what we enjoyed chatting about ;)

Jeff and other amanda, Glad to meet up with you guys again. I swear Amanda punches really hard. I finally renewed my pass to disney, so we definitely need to meet up there sometime. Also, it was a pleasure to meet Vek71. A really nice guy.

Micdavis.....the life of the party haha. It is always fun to hear one of your rants. Glad you and randy made it out.

Ross: Payback is a b..... haha...That will teach you to mess with me...i hope you enjoyed laying on the carpet for awhile haha

It was pleasure to meet new and old people....Tim Allen, nate and swgeek and among others....lear60man, glad you made it out as well..Love your hudson armor....noble, love your gear as well....just soo many names to thank....

oh yes, and Brian. Thanks for bringing your car group. definitely an added plus to our prop party. It was great to see all those beautiful vehicles in person.
It was fun meeting our large happy dysfunctional family.

Ill try and throw a lil prop party video together, I just got this new HD flip camera so that was my first outing with it. Hopefully the footage isn't to shotty/shaky from my drunken state.
