Show your custom Lightsabers!

I noticed that not only the prices of graflex are going up but pretty much all flashguns.
I dont know of theres a custom saber craze or if people are just buying up anyt flashgun thinking its the same ones used in the films.

Some of the former, a lot of the latter is my guess. That's why Graflites are so over-priced. People assume they are THE Graflex. If you don't know from Star Wars props, and you hear camera flashes are selling hot, and you go look at Graflex and Heiland prices, you might think you're sitting on gold.

Thankfully there's still the occasional buy-it-nowers just getting rid of junk.

Also, I scored a Canon Y cheap because it is so complex and pretty I was terrified I'd butcher it beyond repair when I decided to customize it. Apparently I am losing my mind or sleep bidding because I ended up getting two extra not one.

If anyone wants to trade for it let me know. I'm hot for a DMB 3 cell, a 3 cell minicam or a Busch if it's extra cool... Or if there's any Peaks out there in the world that Scott hasn't already modded...

I didn't know that there were 3 cell Minicams.... I don't know which one I have now :wacko

Sorry! I meant the D cell minicam. It's still a 2 cell. Most minicams are the C cell mini.

This one:

Finished another saber yesterday, from a 2-cell Minicam flash, King Sol clamp, Novus 820 calc bubbles, 3d printed grips and neck from Shapeways, and a shroud and neck detail from a 2-cell Heiland. The "guts" were detailed with a brass sprinkler part from Lowes.

The Shapeways parts were given multiple coats of Plasti-Kote automotive filler primer, sanded smooth, and painted. The Heiland shroud was stripped, sanded to give it a brushed finish, then tinted with a light coat of Testors smoke clear to match the nickel plate of the flash body, then clear coated for protection.

The belt hanging loop is a small leatherwoking buckle from Michaels, attached to the flash body with a metal strap taken from the flash's battery contacts. The buckle was aged by soaking it in toilet bowl cleaner and salt. Grips are attached with super glue and seven 8-32" stainless steel socket head screws, drilled and tapped.

There's one on the bay-- but dude is delusional about it's worth.

Mine did too!

This was my end result:

I always forget those reflector clamps I have a million of and toss aside most of the time can actually make cool low-profle shrouds like that. Looks awesome.

That's the King Sol I remember seeing on Ebay, DS. It looks like you're off to a good start. I like King Sols almost as much as I like Peaks.

Broilermaker recently made a good shroud utilizing one of those reflector clamps.

A KS reflector clamp-based shroud was my original plan for my "Graflite Challenge" Lightsaber, but I went another route.

Thanks Scott.
Thats a sweet Graflite saber. Nice and beat up.

Im not quite done with the reflector clamp.
Im planning on cutting down the reflector bars and attaching it to the reflector clamp.
Have to figure out whats the best design though.

Also have an old Speedgun that i dug up recently...unfortunately its a bit short, which kind of bugs me.

Anyhow, heres a custom saber i made some years ago. Shortly after i was done i ended up not liking the design so i removed the clamp to use on another project-

I like that a LOT. It's like the missing link between prequel and OT sabers. Personally, I'd just put longer grips on it and call it a day. Very, very cool!
