Show your custom Lightsabers!

My custom fabricated Lightsaber Nunchuks, made from 5051 aluminum round and pipe, took over 2 years designing, re-designing of various designs and styles, this is final look, this is also a double bladed saber that comes apart as a nunchuck typer saber weapon. This was made this for a Fan film for the main villain.
still a work in progress, working on putting Sith type runes and tribal patterns engraved into the hilt.

Man I remember those. I always loved your saber chucks. I remember several years ago asking you on the theforce.net Fan Films forum, how you weathered those. You were kind enough to teach me your weathering method so thank you very much. I wish your fan film could have been completed. It looked like it would have been epic.

These took awhile to design, the outcome was more wicked than the original concept, fabrication took some time and it changes were for the better. Also made for fan film used by one of the jedi knights,View attachment 480912View attachment 480913

Oh man, this is awesome! These bad boys are the one reason I got into making custom sabres in a big way. Never thought I'd have a chance to thank their creator for inspiring me to get started on my own sabre smithing adventures :D

That's some serious skills you have there dude and a high benchmark for me to reach in terms of fabrication skills, giving it my best shot though ;)

Even gone as afr as putting together a PCB fabrication lab and enrolled on an electronics engineering course to facilitate designing and making my own custom PCBs so I can finally add sound (and other things too). Call me crazy but that's what a padawan would do isn't it?

For my first attempt I decided to make the whole system using modules and make a bus PCB to plonk them on. This is the control section which is 19mm x 65mm (still WIP):

The peripheral modules all attach to this board in one fashion or another to form the whole unit. Though not labelled, the PSU section has integrated Li-Po charging.

Only just moved on to all metal hilts and started with alu, plans for a lathe are now afoot...

Peace brother and keep shining brightly, force be with you ;)

Everyone's sabers are sick! Here's a couple of my new builds.

Very nice. I'd like to do a custom with a Graflex front end like yours someday.

I have a chromed RE Graflex clamp on the way for my chrome plated Peaksaber project from a few pages back and there's a low budget Hardware saber in progress on the workbench right now. Pics coming soon when completed.

Thanks Scott! Looking forward to seeing your next saber.

Hi, Im making my own Darth Vader saber and I need some parts, does anyone know where to get the loose parts. I have the graflex Heiland so It will become the ROTJ version.

Well, my other one I posted, which as far as I'm concerned is my first, I think is too narrow to accommodate any electronics, so tonight I picked up a sink tube which I plan on going all out with.
Design, electronics, the works.
I glued a bottom to it, but nothing to really show yet.

Just picked up this old Winchester headlamp from the 20's because it instantly screamed "lightsaber" to me. I love the button on the front, and it looks nicely aged and machined, being a quality Winchester product. I'll post progress once I start tinkering with it.

Awesome find! You're right, it does look....forged in a galaxy far far away. I especially like the look of that button

Nocturne armor Revan I did an install on.

Had to machine quite a bit to fit all the components,

This was a quick project for me. (less than a month)

Less than $20.00 spent at the hardware store for the sink tube and the button head allen screws. The rest came out of my greeblie box.

This is an awesome looking saber, especially since it was mostly made out of random parts! Did you do any machining to modify the parts to fit together or did you just fit them together? If you can please, I would love for you to tell your story and your inspiration of picking parts out :)

Well, all I can really say about your guys work on here is that your light sabers will make a fine addition to my collection ;)

Seriously though, awesome work here. I'm super excited about my current saber project. I'll post pictures upon completion.

I gotta say the 2nd Star Wars teaser trailer is what inspired me the most. I know the RPF currently has Graflex fever, but I've already been there/done that/got 'em on display, so I came up with an idea to do something else.

I've always liked the look of Jeff Park's Mara Jade Lightsaber, so I decided to make a "hardware store version" that would at least have some similar features, like the grips and the control box near the emitter.

15+ years of prop collecting/building will create a good stash of greeblies, so that made everything come together quick. The center clamp is from a Peak 3 cell flash and the two clamps up front are from a Heiland Sol and a Syncronar. The emitter is from a Heiland, too, a leftover part from my recent Fett ESB Rifle project.

The textured chrome tape and some of the button head allen screws are leftovers from the Yodashouse/Blast-Tech days.

No special machine work. I didn't even cut the sink tube down to a shorter length and left it at 12 inches. The saber looks like a "Brute" when placed next to my converted 3 cell flashes.

I did take a scuffing pad to the sink tube, knocking down the bright chrome plating and making it look somewhat machined. Same treatment for the endcap, too.

The grips are made out of u-shaped strips of stainless steel. They were already cut to the length you see. I still have some more of this "grip material" in different lengths leftover for future projects. It wasn't very fun fun drilling the holes in them, though. There was a lot of cutting oil applied and dipping them in water to cool them down.

The tall Heiland clamp was stripped of it's black crinkle paint and wet sanded/wire wheeled to make it look machined/polished. The silver knob on the side of it is a vintage reflector knob, probably from a Graflex reflector. It was even the correct thread size for the existing hole, so no need to tap it.

I did have to drill and tap 25 holes for the grips, clamps and Covertec knob. I like to build props as sturdy as possible, and that's one of the best things about building customs...you can always build it the way you want it.

Thanks for the compliments and I hope I've provided some inspiration to my fellow RPF members. :cool

Well guys, I'm sure everyone here knows what its like when life comes along and puts a halt on your light saber build. I don't think I can finish it this weekend like I wanted to, but I'll go ahead and post a few progress pictures because I'm excited.

I thought this would look good in the top when the blade is not in place.

Just a pretty bland sink tube right now. After all the electronics are put in place inside I'll worry about the cosmetics.

Very cool.

Has that Jade look to it.

What did you use for the emitter? Looks like a bulb socket.
