Sherlock Coat opinions/info?

That looks fantastic! Way out of my price range though. Too bad.

Would you ever consider making his suit coat or scarf?

Suit coat, no problem at all... scarf probably not as that would have to be done in a large run and I'm sure a "close enough" could be found easily on-line.

The original maker actually has an almost exact current model of the scarf.

Btw, coat looks beautiful Indy.

Paul Smith. Though, now that I am looking I don't see one with both the correct tassels and color. Hmmmm.

Hey all! I've been keenly following this thread :popcorn; so much so, I just had to make an account :p

I'm going to a party in about 4 weeks. I'm planning to go as Sherlock (BBC/Cumberbatch of course :p) and was thinking of ordering the CosplaySky wool coat. Anyone have reference to timeframes, as far as processing and shipping times are concerned? I live in Australia and need it by the 1st of Dec, which is 20 working days from now... giving me just 1 day leeway with the posted time of ~19 working days turnaround :/

And for those who did order that coat: did you measure over the suit/what you'd be wearing under it? For those who took more detailed measurements: exactly which measurements did you take? Did you give any margin of error to the measurements (e.g. if the chest measurement was say 42", did you add 1/2/3")? Especially paging joker1 here :p

I know I did kind of back myself into a corner by not deciding on the costume until now, but any help would be most appreciated! :)

I would order it ASAP- the big problem is going to be shipping but from China to Australia hopefully it won't be too horrible?

I'd put on the suit and then measure, but be careful because you don't want it to be too big. And I'd suggest accurate measurements unless you're really really nervous about it.

Cosplay sky is generally pretty fast about getting things done, and you can probably rush the order if need be. I have their coat and I love it- I just wore it for Halloween the other day! Easy, simple, comfortable. :)

Good luck! Keep us updated!

Hey thanks heaps for the reply! Yeah, will be ordering in the next 6 hours (at work right now).

Your coat seems to fit you quite well! If you don't mind me asking, what specific measurements did you take other than what's mentioned on the site? Last night I took some quick measurements while wearing my suit jacket. So far I have chest circumference, waist, width across shoulders (from left to right shoulder seams), shoulder length (measuring from my neck to edge of shoulder seam). I should also probably measure the armholes... can't think of any other measurements.

Is there anything else that I should look for or specify in the order? Haha sorry for all the questions. I'm 182cm/65kg (6'0/143lbs), so I really don't want to drop $200+ on a coat that looks baggy on me :p

Oh, great to hear. I'll see if they can speed up the process at all. And to be fair, the 21-day policy does seem to be worst case scenario, so hopefully it will be here before the big day (1 Dec). I'm also looking forward to wearing it in everday situations.. :cool

Thanks!! I sure will :)

I wonder if you could sumbit RayR's measurement pics of the Belfast as well. They make alterations that you suggest, so why not suggest they make it perfect. :D

As of 2 minutes ago.. it's been ordered!! :D

TheLark: thanks for the idea! I actually hadn't thought of doing that, so upon your suggestion, I pasted a link to that photo in the comments section just before completing the order.

misswolverine: I did ask if they could process it in 7 days (the minimum time mentioned on the product page). Hopefully they reply positively! :) Also seeing as I probably have a day (or so?) before they actually start making it.. if you do see this post today, I'd really appreciate your advice with the previous questions I mentioned! $230 is a lot of money :confused but seeing as that gets me a Sherlock coat??!! The choice couldn't have been easier :lol I still really want to get good value/fit for my money though :confused

PS for misswolverine/anyone who ordered this coat: how did/do you specify coat length?? 1) measuring straight down the side, over the sleeve part, from seam of shoulder to the hem? 2) simply measuring from where the collar meets the back (see the bottom part of 'R' in Ray's measurements), to the hem? 3) some other way?

... oh dear. I'm sure all the seams and parts mentioned above have their proper names, none of which I'm familiar with. I'm quite the noob, aren't I :S haha but thanks heaps in advance! :)

Coat has now been posted by Cosplaysky!! :D I got the tracking number at 7pm today (Australia time, UTC +11). I must say, they've been very accommodating. I asked that the coat be delivered by next Wednesday 28th (give or take a day), and they've been considerate of that.

If it comes out well you MUST let us know exactly what you said to them so others can follow. I've been wanting to order one for a few weeks so i'll be interested in seeing your coat when it arrives... did you get the linen or wool version? You've probably said but maybe I missed it. Good luck and let us know when it's here!

Just out of curiosity, did you devise your own pattern for the coat, or were things like RayR's measurement photos used as well? I just noticed the rear clasp on your version seems a bit longer and not as thick (or wide rather?) as the original Belstaff.

The back is so my favourite part!

Please be sure to post pics along with your review of sizing (in relation to your requests of Cosplaysky) and material!! :thumbsup

Well, that was quick - as of 9am, it's in Sydney and on board for delivery! Gotta love express air courier. Sent from China via DHL on Saturday afternoon, in Sydney on Monday! I'm at work today, but someone will be at my place to pick it up, so I should be able to try it on this evening.

Definitely will do! Honestly I'm not sure if I even mentioned it previously, but I got the wool version, and specified a few extra measurements in my order.

Sure thing! Prelimary pics will probably be up today, but I'll have time for a full review/opinion piece on Wednesday.

Can't wait!! :D

It has arrived!!! In one word: PERFECT! :D

It arrived at my house shortly after 12 this afternoon. I got home from work a short while ago and quickly tried it on. The only thing I feel might not be 100% about it is the size of the shoulders, that may be a bit on the small side - and even that is not Cosplaysky's fault. I should've probably allowed a couple of extra cms in those measurements.

More comprehensive write-up and photos coming soon.. for now, I'm kind of exhausted :p
