Sherlock Coat opinions/info?

This may be a dumb question, but where are you getting your wool from cosplaysky? I can't find it on their website, or do you have to ask for it specially?

The wool from cosplaysky is 1.5 metres wide. You need to contact them directly at info@cosplaysky.com and tell them how much you want. It's $20 per metre and shipping is free. After contacting them, you deposit the money to their paypal address.

hi, guys! long time, no post.

has anyone had any experience with the abbey workshop coat? i've seen one on ebay and it looks pretty nice. if anyone owns one, would they be able tto write some info/post some pictures?

many thanks :)

I the like the way that coat seems to hang in the photos. The interfacing must be a bit firmer or something, whereas the cosplaysky coat kind of slumps where it should be crisp.
I checked if they were selling their wool by the metre, but it was a no.
That's my 2 cents. :p

Amazing photos!
The actual coat made from some sort of tweed. And this is 100%, but what kind of tweed..
RayR, I have only one question - your coat must have labels, which has an information about fabric and how to wash and etc.
So, if there is any info about fabric on coat?

The label doesnt say any detail about the Tweed, It says Dry Clean Only

I am not sure what measurement you mean. Please be more specific. Also, I am not home much, so the reply may be delayed, but I'll do it as soon as possible.

From the bit I can see, it looks very good. Yes the Tweed does look the part! And Great Job on the buttons!:thumbsup Can you give a link to Risu's, please. I missed that.

Not a great picture, but these buttons look to be the correct color.

Oh no Ray your fine. It's concerning the Cosplaysky coat, just wanna compare the pleat width of your official one (4") to misswolverine's as I received an email from them explaining they've altered the back of their pattern to be more accurate (triangle stitch, darts, vent length etc) But I didn't ask about the pleats and as their pictures are still outdated and she owns the most recent one, I wanted to be aware if it's gone down from the 6" width it looks like in the outdated pictures. (should just ask them:facepalm)

hi Everyone, happy Sunday! ;)

This coat is my next project - and so far I am just getting the material list ready. it really does seem like a hardcore tailoring coat. And I am making a male version (for my husband, he does put up with my constant mess, specially during Pre Pax Prime maddness, :) and a Female version for myself.

Cant wait to study my notes on tailoring techniques! ;)

Just thought i'd pop in again, while browsing the Paul Smith webstore, looking at things i'll never afford. I found this coat in a fabric somewhat similar to the one found on Sherlocks coat.

The good news is, might the fabric/pattern become fashionable? If so, i'd suppose there'd be more people making it, thus it would be easier to find.

Is that fabric too melange? I think the fabric should be more charcoal/black and just 20% of grey yarn? Sorry, I was trying to find a suitable fabric all weekend. but no luck!

I have a new Sherlock coat fabric! This one might be a pain for other people to get though, since I got it in Korea! I was visiting Korea a couple weeks ago, and I decided to shop around in the fabric district. There's a huge building filled with vendors selling fabric. Most of them only have fabric swatches. After a couple hours of searching, I came across this fabric. After a confusing exchange in half korean and half english, I ordered eight yards. There ended up being more confusion a week later when my mom called to coordinate picking up the fabric and they had the wrong pickup date. My mom (fluent in Korean) ended up picking up the fabric for me after I flew home, then mailed me the fabric.

What do you think?

hey guys :) no computer for me = not keeping up with the serlock awesome-ness!

just wondering if there's anyone who has experience with the abbey workshop coat..? it's a little inaccurate from the pictures they have on ebay, but the wool looks to be a better quality than the cosplaysky wool. as it's getting colder i'm thinking of breaking out the greatest coat in existence, but i've seen this new coat and quite honestly i'm liking it. any help would be appreciated :)

I'm also interested in any opinions on the warmth of the cosplaysky coat vs the Abby workshop one.

I'm from new england where winter temps can average about 30 degrees F. I just really love the style of this coat and after reading through this entire thread am blown away by what you all are creating!

Sadly, I am not at a point where I can do this myself, so in the $200 range, are either of these coats going to be acceptable in a New England winter?

Thank you in advance and keep up all the great work!
