Sherlock Coat opinions/info?

The Abby Workshop seller's selling another version of it with Dream Cosplay watermarks... $10 more with shipping (to me at least). Hows this compare with the others?

if anyone's interested in the cosplaysky coat, just found out for now they have ran out of their specific black wool for now. on the plus side I found out that they will make slight adjustments to the coat for you thought, so you can have it a little more actuate if you want.

On a slight side-note. Me not being comtempt with any of the gloves i can find out there, i was considering asking Magnoli if he was willing to make a replica pair. The problem is, i can't really find any reference photos of the real gloves, does anybody have some good reference photos of the knuckle-holed leather gloves Sherlock wears?

Sherlockology has a fairly good reference photo on their gloves post:

Just a shout-out to everyone who's posted in this thread and helped make finding and/or creating Sherlock's coat a little bit more possible - thank you! I've been lurking around here silently for a good while, and thought I might as well say hello.

I'll be attempting to make the coat, myself. I'm still hunting for the right fabric, waiting for samples, finding new ones, and I'll hopefully begin to modify a pattern this week. Finding a good scarf has been a bit problematic... but we shall see!

I too would be very much interested in an accurate replica.

Here's a photo of the fabric I'll be using, as well as a homemade button! I have a friend who's a machinist, so he machined it out of some plastic he had lying around, and then I painted it. The paint isn't as bright as it appears in the photo, but I may still test a darker one.

Both = spot on. Gorgeous finds!!!

The details are a little large, but impressive considering it was machined.

Thank you! Yes, slightly large, I admit. It does look a bit better now that some of the extra bits of paint have been cleared up. Well, tiny flaws keep me humble, I tell myself. =P

Was that fabric a local find or the online? That's better than many alternatives I've seen.

It's online, actually, from Denver Fabrics:

Black/Pewter Stripe Wool Jacketing - Discount Fabrics

I wasn't sure about it myself, until I got it; but when it arrived I discovered that the wrong side of the fabric actually has that check weave that makes it look like a grid at long distance. So I thought, hey, I'll just use the other side. xD

I don't know if you already did, but I contacted Cosplaysky. They say that thier pleat width on thier updated pattern is about 8cm (roughly 4"). Just putting this here for other people who might want to know.

Looks like a very well made coat you have there Indy, and if I'd not already organized for my own one to be created I would definitely consider it (although my project might end up looking terrible so I'll keep an eye on yours in future).
You should consider getting the buttons that Risu is making though. They're screen accurate and look a treat.

Can we see a back view of the coat?

I know Risu's are more accurate, but I certainly like the idea of genuine wooden buttons. For more photos visit my site. ;)

Just out of curiosity, did you devise your own pattern for the coat, or were things like RayR's measurement photos used as well? I just noticed the rear clasp on your version seems a bit longer and not as thick (or wide rather?) as the original Belstaff.

We based on our pattern on photos from one of our customers who owns an original (I believe they may have been posted here as well... I can't remember).
