Wow! Yeah! Single compressor stage and single turbine stage! And it worked!
4000-112 (commercial, for the 777)
looks a bit different inside.
But you can see the fan, blue LPC, purple HPC, combustor and the turbine stages at the back.
So, you have alternating rotating (blades) and fixed (stator) airfoils, with reduced area as you move through the engine. Fun stuff.
Everyone likes to say “rocket science” but rockets are far easier to engineer actually.
