Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Pre-release)

ROTJ armor is far more different from ANH armor than the R1 is.

Ok point taken. I think the subtle changes were from a costuming prospective IE easier to make or different materials from ANH. These troopers are a different design on the torso with the angle. 99% of the viewers will see original series troopers.

So nobody noticed the crashed black X-Wing in the background in the "Samurai" scene?

I'm so glad they put a lot of work into recreating the death star look of the original filming model. I think that made me the most excited.

I think what a lot of people miss about Rey learning the force quickly is that she is a huge Jedi fangirl. Luke had never heard about the Force, was very insulated about the Jedi from his uncle. Rey *knew* what you can do with the force, she presumably heard stories of mind control and such, and so she knew what it was capable of.

Well the fact that Rey is so oddly adept at the Force in an unprecedented way is kinda the whole point. I think we're *supposed* to wonder wtf is going on with her. Why is that happening? She turned Kylo's mind probe right back on him and knew what he was afraid of. It just snowballs from there. Of course it's weird. That's the idea. That's how I took it anyways.

Exactly. We agree.

So I just rewatched the Rogue One trailer for maybe the 20th time, and I love that closeup of the Star Destroyer. One of my main complaints about the CG spaceships in TFA is they looked like CG, but for whatever reason, this SD totally looks like a model. I think it's the subtle diffusion effect.

In the words of a very wise man, "dis gon be good."

Geez is every new SW film going to showcase some "Disney" princess....:rolleyes Samurai warrior WTF??? Forrest Whitaker.....awful choice. Another Deathstar film...:sick
Original ISD= awesome!
AT-AT's in the Caribbean=awesome!
Stormtroopers=awesome!

so in the Star Wars series so far we've seen Obi Wan wielding a lightsaber like a katana, Darth Vader with essentially a black samurai helm also wielding a lightsaber like a katana, Darth Maul doing Wushu ...

But when a Chinese man hits a stormtrooper with a stick we suddenly refer to it as a "samurai scene"? LOL.

Well yeah... how else would we demean and generalise an entire ethnicity whilst maintaining a smug air of white privilege and unconscious racism? :rolleyes

Well when you show up looking like you stepped off the set of Shogun it pretty much jerks you right out of Star Wars... Don't blame me... blame Disney.

Not racism. At worst, just ignorance.

I can see where you're coming from. It probably just doesn't bother me as much.
Conceivably one might have had the same feeling about a black man as a stormtrooper but I got over that, too.

I don't have an issue with any skin color. Characterization and costume design, yea I do.

Now, now, there's no need to resort to personal attacks on your fellow RPFers who disagree with you. You're better than that, JD.
Don't mistake a guilty conscience for a personal attack.

You're the one making it personal and accusatorial.
