Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Pre-release)

I don't think this is true. This is set before ANh. TFA is like 30 years after RotJ.
Do we really know how old Phasma is?
Also, Phasma is >6' while this character is not.
Imperial lifts?

I don't think it's true, either. Just spitballing. They took great effort to craft her as a sympathetic, scruffy underdog. If anything that's the complete antithesis of how Phasma is portrayed.

No, clearly she is dressed as a tie fighter pilot.

So judging by that last shot she is either impersonating an Imperial guard/officer in order to infiltrate the Death Star or ...

... she breaks from the team, joins the Empire and ultimately becomes Phasma.

"What happened to the days of Star Wars when it was 100% dudes! I only watch Star Wars packed with dudes!"
- a good 25% of RPF

Ummm, not sure what you're talking about, my friend. There were lots of girls in the OT: Princess Leia, Mon Mothma, Aunt Beru, the Tonnika Twins...the list goes on and on.

The Wook

so in the Star Wars series so far we've seen Obi Wan wielding a lightsaber like a katana, Darth Vader with essentially a black samurai helm also wielding a lightsaber like a katana, Darth Maul doing Wushu ...

But when a Chinese man hits a stormtrooper with a stick we suddenly refer to it as a "samurai scene"? LOL.

People forget Lucas originally wanted Toshiro Mifune to play Obi-Wan Kenobi. There are early drawings of both Kenobi and Vader with heavy Samuri influence. Donnie Yen's character isn't so odd for me in this context.

I also recall a lot of people b-tching when The Raid cast in TFA didn't get to do anything but get eaten by CGI monsters

So wait, referring to the above as a "samurai" is considered offensive?

Genuinely curious...

No more offensive that the Cloud City citizen being called 'Ice Cream Guy'. He's dressed like a Samurai, fights like a Samurai, but hes Asian so we cant dub him 'Samurai Guy' until we learn his real Disney generated name.

Next on the PC block is Slave Leia. She will now be known as 'Geographically Restricted Unpaid Laborer Leia'.

Lets get back to talking about this new flick coming out.

For the most part I'm pretty excited- but now we have the same walkers 30 years- or whatever- before Empire? And Mon Mothma is still in the same dress in front of the same green battle map thing? Everything doesn't have to be the same, does it? But like I said, still pretty excited.

Bad Star Wars is still Star Wars. Worst case scenario- you get it.

hmm, I never heard that before.

or I could be thinking of the death star two.....I know I saw one of them in the documentary.

my mind is so scrambled these days it's easily getting things mixed up.

Yeah, probably the second one.

Heres a link to a quick version of the story. Although there is a much more detailed one with several pages I've read before.

This takes place more like 5-10 years before TESB. I don't think Mon Mothma has ever been shown in front of one of those green battle map things in the movies?
