Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Pre-release)

Rebels Vader still had eyebrows, so maybe he loses them in some other fight.

Either that or he was testing if mobile phones could set petrol on fire.

It could be that at this stage Vader still needs the occasional immersion in a bacta tank to help with the healing process. He's just so messed up from Mustafar that what we saw at then end of Ep. III was only the beginning of his treatments.

i wonder if its not a tank at all... and just a beam of light, lighting something up... all in all this beam looks cold to me...

I wouldn't have a problem with that being Vader in the tank. I mean, his body was pretty messed up, and even by the time of ESB, the only time he can take his mask off and stay alive is in his meditation chamber.

Whose to say he wasn't constantly using a bacta tank up until his death? Once he gets the suit, we never see him out of it again, ever (except for force ghostie). Surely he has to get out of the armor periodically. Even Vader still sweats. Gotta do something while it is being cleaned.

Agreed Jkno and I don't like the idea that he gets injured again. I want him to seem like an untouchable, unstoppable force. I notice there seems to be a tendency lately to do this weird "battledamaged striptease" with Vader where his life support suit and helmet get damaged and ripped away during fights in some of the other material (namely The Force Unleashed and Rebels) and I always found that to be really dumb. Thankfully TFU is no longer canon but unfortunately Rebels is. Nevertheless, I don't want to see RO continue the trend.

See that doesn't bother me in the least.

I think I'm sort of in the middle on that one.

I do think that it is realistic to expect that Vader would have had some need for replacement parts or another suit or whatever during his long time with it.

BUT

On the other hand, he's supposed to be SOO powerful...one would expect that when he gave himself fully to the Dark Side that he would be pretty much untouchable by most everyone he would encounter.

Tough call.

Well it makes his suit seem oddly flimsy and with the emphasis that the suit is a self-contained, sealed life-support apparatus, he seems to be depicted doing pretty well even when it's torn to shreds. Makes no sense. Beyond all that, it just makes him look weak.

We have no context yet so it's all academic.

I'm not reading any spoilers for this film, but I think it would be cool if that was Vader in the bacta tank, and the only time we do see him in this film (or one of few times) is when he's fully out of his suit, all vulnerable and horrific ...
